I'm trying to avoid excess sodium (I retain water like crazy) and don't want to blow all my calories in one meal, so I end up at Panera a lot. It's a style of food I like and they make a really good salad.

I have performance goals as well (rowing) and found that I did need to increase my intake (accomplished by eating back 90% instead of 50%). I'm losing a little more slowly, and my training performance has improved. I'm in taper week right now and am eating close to maintenance.

She's vegan. So for her, zero is the correct amount of eggs. Current science says dietary cholesterol does not affect blood cholesterol in most cases. So egg it up! :)

You could also hang out in the kitchen while they cook, and get an idea of the ingredients that way. It's usually safe to choose a similar (high-calorie) restaurant entry to cover a homemade food.

You can eat more, but in a controlled way. When you're within a couple of pounds of your goal, add a 100 cals a day for two weeks. If you're still losing, add another 100 for another two weeks. Eventually, your weight will stay the same. That's your maintenenance calories. Your weight will still fluctuate by a few pounds…

6 days a week, 75 minutes most days. That's warm-up, stretch, the workout, stretch again, and cool-down.

Do you know how many calories you were eating every day before you started dieting?

The grass is always greener. :) I was 44G, am now 36DD. I dare not even dream of being a C.

The eggs are actually a good ice-breaker with neighbors. They're helping you solve a problem. I'm a total introvert, so I get it. I've lived here for three years and have only spoken to one of our four neighbors. And, hey, I'm always up for doggie time. Just let me know when and where. :)

@DarkSinestra - That one always makes me laugh inside. They always say something like, "But... it's free?" Thanks anyway. I'm good.

I have a friend with this problem. She does three things: 1) Freezes her extras (egg-stras?). Cracks them into a freezer container in the portions they typically eat. A hedge against non-laying days. 2) Drops them off at the community food pantry. They sometimes have refrigeration. And eggs are so much better for the…

My goal for weight loss is about 65 lbs (24 remaining). I'm seriously considering finding something that weighs that much and putting it right next to my bedroom mirror. I don't ever want to forget what I'll have achieved and what it took to do it.

Be helpful and friendly on other people's posts. And when you see someone who has things in common with you, or you could learn from, send them a request, with a note about why. Just like life, really. :)

Are you guys talking about a standard toaster oven (size of a breadbox), or a stand-alone second oven (size of a microwave)? Not clear from the context.

How about some bodyweight exercises to start? No equipment required. https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/

Have you tried it black? It actually took me a second to figure out your question because in my head "iced coffee = ice + coffee." :)

Macros matter if you have related medical issues or if your current mix isn't satisfying to you. Otherwise, you're good. :)

Your weight-loss rate is good. Perhaps you need to reset your expectations. If you're eating back your exercise calories, make sure you're not overestimating your burn. It's very easy to do. There are lots of good PCOS threads on here. Short version of what works for me: 1. Set to 1.5 lbs/week. 2. 150g carbs or fewer. 3.…

I think family is important, but I'd move. Life is too short for this sort of *kitten* and this is an ongoing problem that will only get worse. We live 20 hours from my in-laws and 12 hours from my sister -- on purpose. My parents are totally fine and not intrusive, but I still won't live closer than a half-hour. It's…

If you'll be pulling or cutting it off the bone before eating, yeah, just weigh what you put on your plate. If you're keeping it on the bone, weigh it with the bone in, then after eating, weigh the bone and other remains and subtract it out.

As long as you're operating on a calorie deficit, you should lose. Exercises that help most with that are cardio ones that you can do consistently and over a longer period of time. So depending on your current fitness level, the specific exercise and appropriate intensity will change.

Fat can also be lodged inside your abdominal cavity, where it's invisible from the outside.

I sometime lure myself to the gym by saying I'll use the sauna afterwards. But then I'm all heated up from the workout so I just go home. :)

Whatever pattern works... For me: Breakfast 2nd Breakfast (snack preworkout) Lunch Dinner Evening Snack or Dessert

I overeat in a couple of scenarios: 1) If I don't plan well. I eat too much at breakfast and lunch, and then I can't squeeze dinner in and be satisfied. If I pre-log, I avoid that. 2) Carbs, eaten without protein or fat, tend to make me hungry for the rest of the day. If I stick to moderately low carbs for the day, about…

Independent running stores and Fleet Feet Sports stores are good choices. Big box sports stores won't be able to give you the guidance you'll need. ETA: Go to Google Maps and search for "running store" near you. Expand your search to multiple counties if needed, but there are usually one or more around. Especially in…

Athenas are awesome! I did a sprint last year when I was 220 lbs. I'd started training at 248. I looked at the data afterwards and was pleased to find that while I finished in the bottom third, my run time was actually in the top third! Gotta find my wins where I can! It was great fun and everyone was super supportive!…

I had a session yesterday with a rowing coach who also works with elite high school teams. A couple of the kids came into the boathouse while I was in the middle of a timed test. I was clearly distracted and worried about looking ridiculous and middle-aged in front of the very fit teenagers. She leaned down and said…

MFP gives really high numbers for calories burned when you enter manually. Which is why I don't use them. I've never logged more than 600 cals, even when I was heavier, and those were really big workouts. And even then, I only eat back 75% or so.
