Thank you so much for posting this. I wish there was a way of getting stories like yours out to people who aren't on MFP as well.

Many orthopedic groups have an outpatient orthopedic clinic for strains/sprains and then they would refer you to a physical therapist if indicated. If your doctor is a generalist - this might be the best way to get in. Most insurances do not require a referral to see a physician specialist - though they would for physical…

I lost most of my goal weight without feeling hungry very often - but as I have upped my calories, I sometimes have weeks that I am constantly hungry. Can't explain it right now.

You say you are still losing weight, so this is really only a concern if you want it to be. You might be able to lose weight faster if you were strict on weekends - but if you are still watching what you do - not undoing your good from the week - then maybe what you are doing is developing a sustainable new healthy life.…

I have 2 beautiful redhead children (girl and boy) - but I will not post their pictures due to age. Just chiming in to support the gingers!!!

Yes - this is why your menstrual cycle is hopefully coming back. If you have not seen an ob/gyn about this problem, please do. Going that long without a cycle with pcos can lead to cancer. Also - be prepared - this may be the cycle from you know where if it has been that long.

Agree - people have very different life situations and goals on here. I did delete a friend after the only 2 comments she ever made were both rather judgmental, one unsolicited and the other just rude. We were at different places though. She was 20 years younger and had lost a lot of weight - though she was still larger…

its a friend list - not a parent list. If they ask for advice -then be honest. If they ask you to hold them accountable then do. But I would not make unsolicited comments about someone's food intake.

If you have lost 20# in the last 2 months - I think that does make not weighing perfectly ok. Once you reach your goal weight and work on maintenance it may be harder because you will not have such a big area of wiggle room without the large deficit. But - MFP is just a tool - and if you are using it and it is working for…

I am in a similar spot as you. I have completed my first 10k, have a 10 mile run in a few weeks and planning a half in the fall. I am losing weight as I train - but I have slowed it to a slower pace - and will sometimes eat at maintenance for a week or so if I feel deprived and unable to keep the runs up.

Again - newbie here and not an expert - but as to the timing for stretching, most places recommend dynamic stretching before and then static stretching after. That means your warm up should include things like walking while pulling your knee up to your chest each step, then a slow jog where you try to kick your butt with…

yeah, yeah - we all understand that if people don't change habits, the weight comes back on when you go back to the old habits. So this study, poor though it may be - which is not uncommon in this field - just proves that habits are hard to break. It makes me think more about what we should be doing to prevent these bad…

shin pain - take some more rest days - go a little slower and do not increase your mileage/time or pace by more than around 10% per week - especially if you are new. I know this sounds like it will really hamper your ability to lose weight - but so will a chronic injury. On your rest days from running - you might try…

a bug that flew in my mouth while running

using the forerunner 110 - it works well with MFP

great job - be proud. I am thinking about trying a half this fall, myself. I just did my first 10k this weekend and have a 10 mile race next month.

I eat as many as I need/want to feel satisfied. Usually, I try to leave the majority of them uneaten - but some days I may exercise only to make up for a higher calorie day and so end up eating back all of them. You have to be careful how you are measuring them if you want to eat them back though. Be aware that MFP tends…

Quit that - not the snacking occasionally necessarily - but the giving up. A bag of chips has about 200 calories in it. That does not ruin a day. Even if you did not make up for it at all with other choices, it is only 200 calories. A pound of fat is 3500 calories. I do not know if you are in maintenance or still losing.…

Certainly there are things about genetics that can make it more difficult to lose weight. I still think the parts of the conversation you included make him sound threatened by your weight loss. You know, if you can do this despite genetics and it works for you, then maybe it is not all about genetics and he could do it too…

"Insulting your family"? - your "behind being too flat?" - I suspect he felt threatened by you becoming healthier and rejecting what he sees as the expected norm for what you see as a healthier choice. I have very pale skin so I am risking extreme backlash here - but it sounds like he was really trying to heap some race…

Great job - I also noticed more cheek bones at about 10-12# of weight loss.

You have to add a preposition after speak or spoken to link it to the rest of your sentence. Otherwise, they could just speak to themelves or the cat or to the computer.

Funny post - I am originally from Kentucky - so start it with a Y'all - and then either use "speak to and coordinate with" or "have spoken to and coordinated with". But could you get away with eliminating the first verb? Do you really need to mention speaking if you require coordinating? What if they coordinate on email?

You could look at the intermittent fasting groups. While there is no particular time issues - there are those that try to eat all of their food within a 6-8 hour time span and then eat nothing the remaining hours. This helps them restrict calories (it really is all CICO but how you limit CI without going crazy is why there…

There is no one answer to your question that will be right for everyone - so you will need to find your own best answer. BUT the posters above are on the right track with their guidance. If you want to lose 2 stone, you need a calorie deficit - and most of it will need to come from food restriction. You can burn more…

Great job - and if it makes you feel any better - your BMI is barely overweight and well below obese. 145 would make you normal weight

The human body is programmed to preserve functionality. Women need a higher fat percentage to be able to be fertile and nurse offspring. Men do not. Our bodies were designed to hold onto fat - this along with the lower muscle mass potential and smaller average stature makes it more difficult as a general rule. - but it is…

I know some people say this is why you should not weigh daily - but this is exactly why I do. If my weight goes up 1-2 pounds in a day - well I know I was not 3500-7000 calories over, so I just watch it and expect it will come back down. I don't get excited about weight changes (up or down) until I see them stay there…

thank you for the website. I am meeting with a trainer next week to start a lifting program and I wanted more background information before I started.

Actually, as I read further down the list - Rabbitjb, Tesha_Chandler and Springfield1970 have all given very sound advice - and phrased it better than me. The point is - you are only 12 days in. I think I may have actually been over my starting weight at that time - but I just kept on and now I am back down and almost at…
