This is me! It started about 3 years ago. I'm at a normal BMI and eat whole foods plant based with occasional lapses where sweets are concerned--have been working with the doctor on this, but I decided I don't want to take omiprazole, and it didn't help much anyway. I'm eager to read the suggestions here. I can keep the…

Adding you. (But I'm not from Wyoming).

Some of my favorite "quick meals" are a piece of plain tempeh, microwaved maybe 3 minutes, with store-bought hummus spread on it. I eat it like an open faced sandwich, and it really helps with protein and keeps me full. My quick breakfast is a whole wheat pita, microwaved 1 minute, spread with almond butter and topped with…

One of my favorite breakfasts is frozen, whole wheat pita, microwaved 1 minute and spread with 2 T. fresh ground almond butter and apple slices from 1/2 Pink Lady apple. It holds me til lunchtime.

I don't have the attention span for following recipes most of the time, but I've been roasting eggplant and red bell peppers in the oven for about an hour at 425F and then chopping them up and mixing them with some of my favorite hummus and chopped tempeh. It's my favorite food right now. I'm a vegan-leaning vegetarian…

I'm 57. I've been on here awhile already and originally lost 28 lbs, but I tend to backslide, so I'm currently working on the last 9 or so again. It's rough going at the moment, and I think some new friends could help motivate me. I eat vegetarian and aim for whole foods plant based as a regular thing but sometimes get a…

I've already lost 20 lbs on here but have struggled to keep the other 10 or so I originally lost off. I'm back to trying to lose 9 of them now, again. Sending you a friend request.

For me, for certain kinds of foods/drinks, eating in moderation is more difficult than just eliminating them altogether. When I give something up, I look for something healthier to put in its place. It takes awhile to adjust, but after awhile willpower isn't an issue anymore with those things. I would say get the junk food…

Sending you a friend request. Now is a great time to put some energy into taking more care of *you*. You'll have time for exercise and logging foods...and relaxing and having fun...! Consider volunteer work, maybe teaching English to new immigrants or working in a food bank, free medical clinic, etc... to stay busy, meet…

Roast an eggplant (I slice it in half and put it on a parchment-covered baking sheet) and some cut up red bell peppers together (I set oven at 425F for about 45 min to an hour). While it's still hot, chop some of this up in a bowl, mix in some cooked tempeh, cubed (I usually use half a package of Lightlife tempeh) and…

You can search out entries that include potassium count. USDA-based ones normally do. With care, you can get a pretty good idea of how you're doing.

We're the same age! Sending you a request.

Extra weight can for sure sap your energy and drive, and losing weight can bring it back. You can lose without exercising, but exercise burns calories and helps you feel even better, even just walking, as teacherspet said. This is a great place to work on getting your diet under control and taking the pounds off. I…

I think that feeling you have is what brought many of us to MFP in the first place. The good news is that this is a problem you can absolutely do something about. I gained my weight between age 50 and 53 and took it all off in 3 months. Keeping it off is the hard part, IMO. But this is very doable at any age.

A good group of friends makes all the difference in the world for many of us on here.

I pre-log, scheduling in a mid-afternoon "snack", which is, essentially, another meal. I'd never make it all afternoon til dinner with nothing. This means my other meals are a little smaller, but if I manage enough exercise to give me more calories, I don't feel deprived.
-
Certainly it's ok. I've used MFP to help me balance my nutrition a little more, too, and I have learned new recipes that make it easier to eat low cal without being deprived, but that's just me. It's a tool; use it the way that works best for you.

I've been chopping tempeh and seitan (sometimes both) into a big, mixed greens salad at lunchtime, and that really gives me a lot of protein for the day. Sweet Earth makes a lovely curry seitan, but I use Westsoy (frozen) plain seitan in salads. I can get seitan and tempeh in most grocery stores and all natural- and…

I struggle with the same eating pattern and share your frustration. My best advice would be to bring it up with your doctor. Some forms of therapy may be helpful. I haven't taken my doctor up on this yet, but I'm considering it.

I had no idea until my daughter showed the site to me 3 1/2 years ago. It helped me lose almost 30 lbs. Still maintaining/trying to re-lose the last 5 or so. Still working on most of the same goals as you, lainzain.

I put on 28 lbs immediately after going through menopause. I lost it here on MFP 3 years ago. I'm mostly maintaining now, with some struggle. Avatar is my daughter and her bird at the moment, not me! Feel free to friend me if you'd like.

I had a moment's hesitation when greeting a neighborhood friend who has lost around 100 lbs. I knew she'd had bariatric surgery and was losing but haven't seen her for a while). What came out of my mouth was, "You're a shadow of your former self! How do you feel?" I mulled my response over afterward and am still not sure…

I'm so sorry...Give yourself a little time to get through the next few weeks. This is a very rough time. You will feel better again, in time. Take the time to grieve and to remember and to heal. When I lost my dad a year ago, I gained a little back, and I lost it again. 3 lbs is a drop in the bucket considering how much…

I'm 57, a vegan-leaning vegetarian for 28 years--I"ve been a thin vegetarian and a heavy vegetarian and an in-between one. I also eat potatoes almost every day now; they are loaded with potassium and have lots of other nutrients in them as well. I've kept 23 lbs off for 3 years now and I hurt less and feel way younger than…

I have the same problem. What works best for me is eating just under maintenance calories and getting a lot of exercise to allow me extra calories...I do best if I eat more or less the same meals at the same set times just so my mind doesn't wander too much into other food possibilities. I share your pain!

I"d think about asking my dr. to refer me to a nutritionist for a one-time session to get some expert advice. I've been a mostly vegan vegetarian for 28-some years and have never had a problem with my hair. I log here for protein, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C most of the time but switch it up if I think I'm running low on…

Just two days ago we took some photos of us with our daughter on her birthday while we were out for dinner. I was absolutely horrified when I saw the photos later--I have gained about 6lbs since getting down to my goal weight, but I still considered myself to be in an OK range. But in the photos, I look like I need to lose…

Certainly I track veggies for calories. I also aim for the recommended 10 servings a day when possible.
