  • One of the 'old timers' on here once responded they follow the eat less move more plan which I have adopted. It was liberating when I realised it's all about the calories in and the calories out. I didn't need to pay a monthly fee to a weight loss company, buy the latest diet books or have an expensive gym membership. I…
  • I have found when I was heavier I had more wiggle room. I didn't need to track 100% accurately to still be able to loose at a good rate. Once you get closer to your goal that wiggle room disappears. If you are maintaining on what you are guestimating to be 1200 plus exercising you are most likely eating way more than you…
  • Try with smaller goals and break it down a bit. The larger number is over whelming to most of us but if you break it down in to say 10 pound blocks each of those is more motivating to achieve and tick off.
  • If you are doing everything you used to do and the exercise is new it could be that. When I first started at the gym doing weights it took 7 weeks for the whoosh to happen. That was 7 weeks of frustration and tears and thinking why am I doing this for zero return. Then wow woke up to a huge drop on the scales. Trust the…
  • Pick a way of eating that you can sustain for your whole life not just a couple of weeks. Do your best to eat to the calorie goal that MFP gives you. Weigh everything that goes in to your mouth that has calories. Be honest with your logging. Don't overestimate your calorie burn or underestimate your calories in. Commit for…
  • I was just having this weird thought to myself wouldn't it be funny/weird if they didn't put a tummy button back that would be great to freak people out.
  • My pet hate about the blogs on the main page is that most of the recipes don't include weights
  • I'm nowhere near ready to post a picture but just wanted to say this thread is awesome. Thanks to all of you rocking your bodies your beautiful bellies. I particularly love finally being able to put a face/body to the MFP legends
  • Just the name is enough. I am guessing some play on fuel. But after checking it out I usually pronounce it Hurl

  • Yeah I remember this from the first time I lost. I did look at it as if you had lost a very significant chunk of insulation. I felt better being active so did 30 star jumps or burpees in an ad break or wrapped up in a vest, woolly socks, blanket and even a hat. My husband thought I was mad as he sat there in shorts and…
  • Thought I had avoided the fitbit sync issues this week but no. Between that and the loss of my decimal point on the keypad I don't know what's more irritating. Hoping the next upgrade shows some improvement.
  • I used to snack all night long. Now when I have had my calories for the day I go and brush my teeth and that is my signal that I am done. That and pre logging. I try and leave room for say some Greek yogurt and some fruit (or something chocolate)
  • I have been using fitness blender videos on YouTube or through their website. You can select bodyweight only exercises. Also a range of stretching and low impact
  • My fitbit is giving me crazy calories back at the moment. I am set to active because I get 11,000 steps plus a day but it is also giving me an additional 550 calories back on top of this. I seriously dont trust it now and have started ignoring those which mean I am getting a huge 'deficit' but I am not convinced it is a…
  • For me I had to eat the minimum amount of fat possible otherwise I would be in agony. Unfortunately it progressed really quickly over a couple of weeks to not being able to eat anything without being in unbearable pain. I imagine everyone is different though.
  • Hey @TheImperfectMomma an often quoted phrase on here is - being fat is hard, losing weight is hard so pick your hard. It was a bit of a kick in the backside i needed to hear. From one imperfect momma to another I can relate. This is my second go on MFP. First time 2 years ago I list 25kgs and was starting to feel better…
  • I had my gall bladder removed 20 years ago. My Dr advised yes I could go super healthy or I could eat what I liked in moderation same advice he would give anyone else. You might find in the first year or so a high fat meal might travel through quite quickly though ;)
  • I was in the second week of couch potato and ended in the same position with pf. Has taken from July to January to be able to walk without pain. Will be avoiding running ever again! Went to a podiatrist found out I needed arch support and she gave me some exercises which you can find on the Web eg calf stretch
  • I'm 5'6" I am aiming for 69kgs (151lbs) that's the top of my healthy weight range according to bmi calcs. I am 2 weeks in to my mfp journey (currently 233 with 4.4lbs lost so far) so a long way to go but I think I will keep reassessing my goals along the way.
