  • Hi, Give myself a 500 calorie deficit/ day to start with. I then take off 100 calories/ workout. eg. 2 maxout sessions comes to ~700 (calculated by iCardio) so I adjust it to 500 calories. Works for me. But more than anything I find the HRM motivating. Shows how hard your working and if your really pushing yourself. Shaun.
  • Hey, I use mine for Insanity. Using the calories burnt figures I still manage to loose a steady and consistent amount of weight per week. More importantly It enables you see if your pushing yourself hard enough which is important for interval training. It may not be 100% accurate buts its close enough.....just make sure…
  • Hey, I'm a Technical Storeman for an airline. Most days where humping and lumping Wheels, batteries, engines propellers etc. Everyday we walk miles....our stores is spread over 3 hangars. Personally I keep my level set at 'Lightly active'. I don't log it as excerise because for me I feel it falls within my normal routine.…
  • Hey, Enjoy. I love Insanity/ beach body series...its my go to workout schedule. I'm Currently doing Max Insanity (2nd month insanity workouts) and Max Out sise by side. To say its kicking my *kitten* is an understatement lol Good Luck and enjoy
  • Hey, 6 days a week Sunday is a rest day. All cardio. Generally 1 hour a day Max Insanity workouts. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday these get doubled up. (1 Max out + Max Insanity). Lost 24ish lbs when I did the first round of insanity then plateued for months as I ate back every calorie I burnt. This time I'm pushing for…
  • To quote myself as I saw your photos 'Bloody hell'. Very well done!
  • The one you enjoy! Some people say weight lifting and some say cardio. However if you don't enjoy it you'll never stick with it. Personally I find weight lifting boring. Cardio is my thing and I feel so much healthier for it. Running, insanity, swimming etc........
  • Hi, Had both and both are really poor quality. Davina bike was very unstable and the resistance settings were a joke. Everlast bike was anything but. Lasted 6 months and I only ever used it a couple of times a week! The belt gradually lost all its 'ribs' over these 6 months until it slipped constatntly. The seat was also…
  • Personally id never count mowing the lawn as excercise. At the end of the day where does it stop? Washing the car? Hoovering? To me all of these things are taken into account by your base calorie figure. Counting these small acitivites seems a little bit like cheating. Not trying to be rude. Just my 2p

  • Hey, Just a couple of weeks poor eating for me and I intend to nip it in the bud come Monday. Been nursing a foot injury for the past few weeks....out went the excercise and out went the healthy eating gerrrr managed to loose 0.2lb but gain a small percentage of fat. Determined not to throw the past 5 months hard work…
  • Hi, IMHO very important so is the need for rest weeks. Your body needs this time to recover and repair. I have 1 rest day a week and one rest week every 7 weeks. Its amazing how much better you feel coming back to it after a week off. All those niggly little injuries feel better and you have much more energy! Shaun.
  • Run! Get done sooo much quicker lol Shaun.

  • Hey, I'm pretty sure most people don't even notice us runners. Its only since I've become a runner that Ive taken notice. I don't judge as I know the effort it takes to run even half a mile when your starting out. Just remember if people judge you your the one who has gotten off the sofa and are making the effort. Stop…
  • Hey, Well done on the 5K :) Very addicitive isn't it:) I found the more weight I lost the easier it got and the further I could run. The further I ran the more weight I lost. Its amazing how quickly your body adapts and becomes more efficient. By October youll be doing your half marathon easy :) I've trained hard since the…
  • Hi, I use Google maps and the 'Measure Distance' option. Click and drag your route. If you don't mind running back the way you came measure to 6.2 miles. That's way when you run back you will have covered your 12.4 miles or 20k. Cheers, Shaun.
  • Hi, Speaking from personal experience... I found P90X fairly low intensity. In fact my heart rate never got higher than 130 which I believe is good for fat burning. If your into Cardio you'll easily be able to do a P90X and then a 5KM....maybe more :) Shaun.
  • Hi, I had this exact same problem! I took a week off...which is part of my training schedule. The first run back after roughly 3 miles I experienced immense pain on the outside of my knee. I stopped and the pain went away so ran a bit more. The pain came back. I ended up walking home! For the next week even walking set it…
  • Hey, Not sure why people get so worked up by what calories others are burning. On a 10k run I burn 820 calories. Im 182 pounds and have a pace of approximately 9.45 mins/mile. I use a HRM and my heart rate averages 158 over the 10k run. Some of you will be shaking your head right now but guess what i'm loosing weight at…

  • Hey, When my HRM was on the blink I used the calculator on runnersworld.com. The calculated calories burned was within 5% of what I show using a HRM. For example.... For my 4.8 mile run I usually show 655 with a HRM. Without a HRM icardio calculates 775! Using the runnersworld.com calculator I get 680ish. Shaun.
  • I want to be a good role model for my kids. My lad sees me exercise regulaly and at the age of 4 he is already on the excercise bike. When I go running he wants to come with me :)
  • Hey, Rightly or wrongly I take a week off every 7th week. That means eat what I like, do no exercise besides stretching and generally relax and recover. This week i have put on 5lbs...i dont really mind. My body feels recooperated some injuries that were niggling have healed. Recovery week is now over and I know that I…
  • Hey, Max 30 is great. It also makes you challenge yourself by trying to beat your last 'maxed out' time. Coupled with insanity you can get one hell of a cardio workout. For example today I'm doing Max Challenge followed by Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I found Focus T25 too easy....in fact I found it got boing after a while.…

  • Hey, Many years ago I did a lot of weight training with a personal trainer. The only cardio I did was 10 minutes cycing/ dreadmill at the start to warm up. Yes I built a lot of muscle and had good muscle tone but my CV system was rubbish. If you'd asked me back then to run a mile I simply couldn't have done it. If you'd…
