  • Hey, I never found a way to make the treadmill more exciting.....guess that's why its called the dreadmill! Running and going nowhere is just mind numbing and you will find yourself giving up through shear boredom alone. Get wrapped up and get outside:) Shaun.
  • Have a look at T25 or Max 30. As there titles suggest there only short and give a good calorie burn .
  • Thought I'd heard the name Richard Simmons before.... He was that crazy robot from The Simpsons!
  • Hey, 7th week is certainly the best. My body certainly gives a big sigh of relief lol Gives my muscles the chance to fully recover ready for the next 6 weeks of hammering lol Shaun.
  • Hey, 6 days a week roughly an hour a day. M, F, Su is running. T, W, Th, is circuit training.... Ie T25 etc Saturday is my day off. Sunday is also abs day. Every 7th week I have a whole week off and focus on stretching. Shaun.
  • Hey, People may disagree with me on this but I'd suggest staying clear of those headphones which block out external noise.... You know the ear plug type ones. I bought a fairly good pair for running... Yer they blocked out the traffic noise but all I could hear was my internal sounds like breathing. The sound of my feet on…
  • Hey, Protein shake made with water for me. Usually fills me up enough to take the craving away while giving me almost my daily requirement of protein. My go to snack when I'm picking is celery. Yeh Yeh I know boring. But it fills me up till meal time, has very little calories and is a good source of vitamins and dietary…
  • Hi, Ideally you need a HRM that way you'll get a fairly accurate calorie burn figure. Using any other method means guessing. Cheers, Shaun.
  • Hey, I use iCardio coupled with a HRM. As with all smartphone running apps don't trust the GPS distance readout. I have noticed on a mixture of phones and apps that the distance is rarely if ever accurate. My 4.4 mile run always comes out at 4.6 and occasionally 4.8 according to the GPS. If you don't believe me zoom in on…
  • Hey, They do burn calories just not that many! Looking on Google the consensus seems to be less than a calorie per push up. Personally I wouldnt count them:-) Shaun.
  • Hey, Don't let anyone tell you that's slow! I'd be pleased with that time:-) When I started people scoffed at my 11 minute miles. After 1.5 months training my 10k time is approximately 57 minutes. That's 9.30 minute miles. Cheers, Shaun.
  • Hey, I can't offer too much but I would say avoid the tuck jumps and other jumps. Land them badly and you'll exasperate knee problems. I have bad knees from motorbike crashes so I try avoid anything that's going to jar them. Instead of the jumps I sprint on the spot to keep my heart rate up.... Having a monitor means I can…
  • Hi, I just treat them like any other food... Log the calories. The difference is the protein shake helps me reach my protein target easier and more cost/ calorie efficiently. They certainly won't hider your weight loss in fact for me I found they accelerated it! Not because protein shake are some magic elixir but because…
  • Hey, You don't have to deprive yourself. Instead of having a whole bar have a half? I'm sure you can fit it into your daily allotted calories. Today is pancake day and you can be sure I'll be having pancakes and nuttela. Why? Because I enjoy it... Just in moderation:-) Shaun.
  • Hey, I don't like the first 0.5 mile. My muscles scream for me to stop, my chest feels like im a smoker on 60 a day and my dodgey hip feels like a 90 year olds. I have a battle with my internal monologue.... You need to stop... No i don't.... Why you doing this..... Because I want to be fit... Etc Once my muscles are…
  • Hey, I was well on my way to 15st and decided enough was enough. I got chatting to my friend who was a royal marine about exercise and he persuaded me to start doing some training. I started insanity March 2014 and loved it. I went through the insanity program again but after a very nasty sickness bug and having 2 weeks…
  • Hey, Good thorough stretching before and after training helps me considerably. A really hot bath with Radox muscle soak is also great! Cheers, Shaun.
  • 4.4 mile run yesterday and 4 miles down the seafront when I get off shift at 2pm.
  • Hey, I suffered with this also. However after adding core workouts back into my schedule the back aches lessened and now no longer bother me. Insane Abs is what I do. Cheers, Shaun.
  • Hi, To calculate your calories accurately you really need a HRM otherwise your just guessing. Yer I know HRM aren't completely accurate but there not far off! Plus you can see when you need to push yourself harder. During T25 cardio I burn approx 280 to 300 calories. For the lighter sessions ie lower focus I'm looking at…
  • I think it's more to do with our bodies adapting and becoming more efficient. As you do the same exercise you get more and more efficient expending less energy and therefore burning less calories. Well that's my theory.... I'm sure someone will shoot holes in it lol Shaun
  • Outside and alone. Music on. Just me and the road... Bliss. For 1 hour I have no moaning boss, no nagging GF(she's not too bad I guess) and no screaming kids. It's my time and I love it.
  • Hey, Never struggled with motivation thankfully:-) I seem to thrive on routine so as long as I have a workout schedule in place I won't break it.... Even if that means running in snow storms or working out at silly hours. It also helps that I actually love working out. I run 3 times a week and am always looking forward to…
  • Hi, Just finished T25 Alpha and I can just about get through it all.... Just! I want to go through alpha again though just to make sure I fully nail it before moving on. I've also started to tie in a couple of Insanity Max 30 workouts. I use a heart rate monitor coupled with the iCardio app so get a fairly accurate…
  • Running uses the biggest muscles we have which in turn need a larger blood flow therefore a higher heart rate when their been used. My heart rate when running is between 162 and 175. At first I doubted it but a good old fashioned finger on the carotid artery revealed my HRM wasn't lying. I'm not unfit but I'm no pro runner…
  • Hi, It's not the apps fault:-) Without a HRM attached the app relies on GPS data which is not always accurate... Look closely at your route after running and you'll see a fair few deviations. If you use a HRM calories burnt are based on heart rate... A much more accurate measurement when couple with your stats... Ie…
  • Once a week at the same time...Saturday night right before my shower . I enjoy the suspense and the surprise/delight when the scales go down! Never used to get that feeling weighing daily. Used to do it every day but actually found it demotivating. I also started becoming a little obsessed with it. Shaun.
  • Failure isn't falling down. Failure is staying down. To fall is not to fail!
  • Hey, Mines instant coffee, white, one sugar. .. Only 60 calories a mug but when I'm having 6 or 7 a shift that's 360 calories! I burn that in a 25 minute training session! Cheers, Shaun.
  • Hey, Also bear in mind just because you didn't loose weight you still worked out! You didn't sit there on the couch like most people would. You got out there you did something and in doing something your body is healthier and stronger! You should be proud of yourself:-) Keep going, keep pushing. Rome wasn't built in a…
