The truth has always been true and logical thinking people knew the truth. Unfortunately there are a lot of hucksters trying to sell books and diets that are false. Money is a great motivator. The gullible are always looking for an easier path than self control.

I eat primarily as I did before but I have always been nutrition conscious and steered away from junk foods. I do tend to consume more nutrition dense foods and stay away from high calorie/low nutrition foods. It is a matter of satiety, 100 kcal of beans fills my belly much fuller than 100 kcal of ice cream.

I bought a set of trekking poles last fall. I haven't had a lot of opportunity to use them but did find them helpful for hikes in the snow last winter. They are recommended when hiking with a back pack to provide an extra measure of stability. They are also good for rough and uneven surfaces. I hit 60 years this spring and…

Walking is fantastic exercise. I really have no idea what eating clean means. I have always tried to wash my fruits, vegetables, and avoid dirty food. :)

Ice cream or pie is a nice substitute for cake.

Count alllllllll calories.

I eat a healthy, balanced diet and ignore the macros, they just aren't that important.

With one pound to lose, 1,500 calories is not enough food for a 6' 2" man. You will starve yourself. You did NOT gain 1.5# from a few extra calories, you probably just need to take a dump. Weight fluctuates constantly.

You have been scammed.

There is no reason to totally eliminate meat unless it is for some moral or ethical reason. As for not losing weight since Saturday - for Pete's sake, give it time. Life and health is a marathon, not a sprint. You lose weight by consuming less calories than your body burns, it doesn't matter if those calories are from meat…

Sodium and electrolytes are needed particularly if you are doing hard sweaty workouts. Avoiding excessive sodium is a good thing but it can come later. If your primary focus is to lose weight, don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. You lose weight by consuming less calories than your body burns. Reducing…

I read recently that there is no statistical relevance between car accidents in the USA and bicycle accidents in the Netherlands. :)

Low sodium pretty much rules out processed, prepared, or convenient foods. Is there a particular reason why you need to limit sodium? A low sodium and high protein diet isn't necessary to lose weight.

1) Hybrid is an excellent choice if only one bike. I have a whole stable but ride my hybrid a lot. It is very versatile for all surfaces and routes. I suggest aluminum with no suspension and only a sprung seat post. I am a strong rider and can outrun most people on road bikes while on my hybrid. 2) Aluminum. I have a…

You drank the calories of 4 oranges and two carrots.

Don't eat before your runs. What makes you think that running with food in your stomach is a good idea? I never eat before a run. Like others have said, try sparkteens.

Those aren't cages, I believe what you are seeing are elevated levels one on top of the other. Each level has a railing to prevent the animals falling.

This is the factory farm definition of that "Cage Free" label; Seriously, it is perfectly legit and meets the definition of cage free.

Hopefully you realize that grass fed doesn't mean much. It only means that at some time in the animal's life it ate grass. At least be certain that it is grass fed & finished. Many grass fed animals are on grain/feed for the last months to fatten them and add marbling to the meat.

To burn that many calories you would have to be chasing the fish down. No way it is anywhere near that amount, not even 400.

Hopefully all the nutrition conscious people here realize that up to 1/2 gram of trans fat per serving can be in a product without it being listed on the label. I assume all fake butters (margarine) have trans fats because to make a liquid oil into a solid it is hydrogenated. I could be wrong and some other process may be…

There really isn't such a thing as a "fat burning" exercise. Cardio exercise is best for burning calories. If you burn more calories than you consume, the body will use the stored fat as fuel. Weight/fat loss happens due to reducing caloric consumption.

I try to follow the recommendations of the EWG (Environmental Working Group). They are an independent organization that does testing of health/food consumer products. Every year they publish the "Dirty Dozen". ewg.org/

I prefer butter. Margarine is primarily vegetable oil.

I don't run first thing in the morning because I always wake up stiff and even a bit sore. If I was to run first thing I would have to walk and do some type of warm up. For running later in the day, my warm up consists of changing my clothes.

Define "work". It will make your wallet $200 lighter. It appears to be similar to a TENS unit which is for pain relief.
