This is a really interesting question that I've never really thought of. I've struggled with a healthy eating pattern for most of my life. Some of that was fixed with education. A lot of that was fixed with therapy and thyroid medication. But I don't really see that so much as a personal failing. It is more like a huge…

I cook LOTS and freeze on days off, cook extra serves on days I have time, and crock pot on days I have time only in the morning. Additionally I buy specifically for meals I want to eat within the month (week/ fortnight) and divide them up- e.g. I have 1.5 kgs of cubed meat frozen for a stew I'm going to make next week,…

I didn't have to turn sideways to fit through narrow gaps between parked cars. 10 kgs ago I was always a paranoid that I was going to set off an alarm because I'm a bit clumsy and just couldn't fit through them very well.

Have you told her doctors your fear of her ripping out the feeding tube? I honestly can't imagine how they could think that would actually stay put if she can't understand why it's there and hates how it feels on her skin! Some people are stupid. Honestly I think you may need different dietitian. They obviously aren't…

I love it. My husband ends up putting foot in his mouth "I've just noticed, there's a lot of people fatter than you now." .... That's not how compliments work dear.

One thing I've learned is my mom ruined some veggies for me as a kid and my husband's mom ruined a heck of a lot for him-- because they were cooked in a way that wasn't nice. E.g. asparagus- I hated it until I had it lightly steamed with a little butter on it instead of boiled until it was a soggy mess. Experiment with…

Brother's say the nicest things. I asked mine what he thought of my pig tails once and he compared me to the witch in The Sword in the Stone- Mab, when she was being really ugly with the snout face. Jerkface.

Yum???? Had to google that and it looks amazing! Yuck - read wiki and it's raw? Eww Tamales?

Yum! Duck?

All kinds of yuck and yucky feeling. (Allergic to wheat so the thought of anything with bread turns my tummy) Liver & onions?

I agree- although I add the disclaimer "unless it's in your job description". I've had chemists and roller coaster people ask me if I was pregnant. I may pout a little but it's better than giving someone the wrong dosage or doing something that could cause miscarriage. However, I get that one all the time now working in…

I totally agree. My celiac test came back negative a few years ago but I recently found out I was allergic to wheat due to swelling, rashes, and particularly logging what I eat & how I feel. Logging symptoms as well as food helps for other things too - Like I've figured out I'm not so lactose intolerant, but I can't handle…

This is how I like to have it too. Although I usually add a little bit (2-4 tbsp) of pineapple juice instead of the chunks, just enough to thin down the bbq sauce a little and it comes out like a sloppy joe for the amount of sauce in it. I hate mayo so I really like the idea of yogurt instead, so trying that sometime. Does…

Oddest ever- "Your eyes look like they're from a Rembrandt painting". Some 70 year old lady who came into my work. I remember just saying "uuum thanks?"

Coconut Peach Ice cream: 2 x 400ml can of coconut milk (full fat), 5 Tbsp honey/sugar, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 4 peaches (pureed). Whip using a mixer until very bubbly. Seal it into an old ice cream container or some Tupperware and freeze. Take out every half an hour and whip until it is completely frozen. For 1/2 cup…

My cholesterol has gone down. Still not in normal range yet, but it's gone down- without any medication.

I'm so sick - well not really, I'm not bed-ridden. But I haven't been this sick (proper sick-headache, fever, and cough) in well over a year so I'm kind of hamming it up and totally used my sore throat as an excuse to have a big serve of ice cream. And it was FREAKING delicious.

Just adding on, you may be able to get an epipen without a prescription. Without insurance they may be close to a hundred, but if you have to wait for the allergist it might be a very good thing to have on hand.

The past month I've been on a preventor which has been amazing. Still not upping my cardio very well, but 90% of my asthma issues are gone now. Personally I think it may be useful to talk to your asthma specialist/ gp and see if they can do something for you. My dr. said that if I'm using my reliever nearly every day, I…

I've switched doctors quite a few times and usually I would go in there and say I'm on "x medication for y and need a new prescription for it" and if they didn't believe me (which never happened), I had the box there with my details on it. No decent doctor would stop any treatment without doing tests unless there is cause…

I decided it was time to go shopping for clothes- in the back of my closet. 30% of them fit me, another 50% will fit me in less than 5 kgs. These are clothes I haven't looked at in 3 years, since I started gaining weight back after my gallbladder surgery, but just couldn't toss them. Now they're all starting to fit again…

I was replying to the "Don't limit your diet" that is usually said in reply to people saying "I can't have x, but I really, really love it." One meal of chicken fingers and fries won't demolish a healthy diet, but when that is the only thing you can stomach and the only thing you start to eat... it's not the best. In fact…

In the spirit of Easter- I really, really, really hate peeps. I don't like marshmallows at the best of times but they are worse. Honestly, they taste like some other form of marshmallow made from something not yet classified by the periodic table of elements.

I think she meant the majority of food feels like it's just chicken strips and fries. My uni cafeteria used to serve the same things - fried foods & hamburgers, carving station, salad bar, and "international" which was usually spiceless spaghetti or a pasta of some sort. It's boring and the stuff that seems edible after…

For kicks and giggles I tried on those size 16, just to see how close I am. I was able to zip them up. I could hardly breath and they rivaled Sandy's leather pants for how tight they were but still I couldn't get them up my thigh back in December.

I fit into my sweats I've had since high school (admittedly a little tight) and my size 18 jeans are starting to get loose on me. I'm almost back to the weight I was when I graduated high school. I'm also getting closer every day to the size 16 jeans I want to wear at the end of this month. So I'm very excited. Also now…

I started a lax Paleo diet back in January (bit lax on rice and have potatoes maybe once a month), because I've got some intestinal issues and my husband read that it may help his chronic fatigue. I absolutely refused to go as high as 50% fat because I thought that was ridiculously high. Instead I went for a 40% C, 30% F,…

I've mainly just got allergies and asthma which is in a similar vein as the body's normal immune functions get confused. From potentially life threatening to mild reactions: lavender, perfume, wheat, grass, dust, mold, lilies, juniper, lilacs, cats, copper, bees, band aid adhesives, nickel, SLS, tin (?? still figuring this…
