I have a border collie who needs 45 minutes twice a day of exercise. I walk and have a chuck it ball thrower and we cover anywhere from 2 miles to 4.5 miles a day - walking. I am doing the 21 day fix - so I should be eating 1500 calories. But I hardly ever do that. I am usually below. They say that you should not eat less then you are suppose to. Hard concept to follow - though I do understand why.

look in the 5:2 intermittent fast diet. you can find it on face book. You fast twice a week consuming 500 calories those two fast days. There are also add health benefits. Good luck
