Just wanted to say that, while I'm not the original poster, I have been reading this thread and tried my first HASFIT video this morning. I really like them. Very low key and straightforward. Can't wait to try a few more!

I have to say, this is great advice. While I haven't stuck to any plan for YEARS, I have done so for months. When I'm exercising and watching what I eat, I feel better and in control. But *something* usually starts my derailment. I'm never really good at figuring out what that is. Sometimes it's not me and it's the…

So, I got back from WDW 2 weeks ago. I was there for 7 days. You aren't kidding about the food. I ate a lot. I was already at my higher end weight when I went, but I managed to put on another 5 lbs despite being on my feet all day and logging 8-10 (slow) miles. It's been 2 weeks and I cannot shake this 5 lbs. I was hoping…

I think my biggest issue is portion control. I am eating too much at meals Also, I do have a sweet tooth that really hits at night and I have a hard time stopping a preportioned "treat." For instance, last might I had a Yasso fudge bar at 80 calories. But after I ate it, I was left even more unsatisfied so I had two of…

Yes, the tight clothing is definitely motivating me. I was already in my largest sizes of clothing. I went on the Disney trip and that sort of put me over the edge. Amazing what an extra 5 lbs can do. I've tried to do a little better today so I'll see if I can keep it up. I'm not logging yet because I'm just not there, but…

No, not allergic to nuts but I don't eat a lot of them as I'll get lower intestinal issues, but I do okay with pistachios and sometimes raw almonds. I'll give some different things a try. I do have some issues with IBS (frequent/loose type) if I eat what I would say would be irritating fiber. I've always been cautious of…

Yes, I know, no one can get me there. I'm just hoping that "talking" might help. I do want to stop the trajectory I am on and get back to feeling good in my skin. Right now, even my underwear HURTS me!! It's just hard and I'm having a little whine fest right now.

Thanks! Yes, I do have a food scale and, when doing mindful eating, I use it for just about everything. I've also done frittata "muffins" and tried to vary up my breakfast a bit, but that's been difficult with my time. I did pre-make some breakfasts on Sunday but found by Day 3 I wasn't enjoying the quality of them…

Ever since I got old, I don't burn much. I am a sedentary office worker and, for now, not much I can do about it. 54 y/o female with about 15 lbs to lose. MFP gives me 1410 calories to lose .5 lb per week. I won't actually even lose .5 lbs a week. It's very hard for me to stick in the 1400s anyway and if I get into the…

I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs right now. That is too heavy for me (although I don't look like a large person by any means). I'm 54 years old and for most of my life at 5'7" I naturally weighed (without trying) anywhere between 125 and 141 lbs. That crept up to closer to 160 lbs as I got older and more sedentary. I've never been a…

The only reason that hypothyroidism (specifically Hashimoto's) and gluten are linked is because Celiac Disease and Hashimoto's are both auto-immune disorders. But not necessarily for the same reason (i.e., gluten does not trigger Hashimoto's but does trigger Celiac).

Saw it in the store for the first time today but have no knowledge of it. I was curious about it.

You might be feeling hungry because, well, that's just you. I've tried various forms of eating at a deficit, different types of foods, etc. It makes no difference. I only get about 1500 calories but overeat most of the time to around 1600-1700 and I still always am wanting for more. I just have a large appetite and…

I don't think your doctor meant to imply that exercise could be damaging your health. But exercise could stress some of your organs for a short period of time. For instance, doing some strenuous exercise can cause low-level dehydration if you don't hydrate properly. This could affect a kidney test. Now while you know…

Agreed. I was just answering the question about possible weight gain and not advocating for or against them either way. I took them because of a high heart rate (around 120) when I had undiagnosed anemia. They worked TOO well on me, even at the lowest dose.

I would definitely try to ascertain whether you are correctly assessing your caloric intake. It is SO easy to get it wrong. I'm in my 50s also, with only about 10 lbs to lose and it's incredibly hard. Maintenance calories for me is about 1600 hundred so I *have* to get my 1410 calories right or no weight loss.

I don't think beta blockers directly cause weight gain, but they do slow your heart down. I tried them once, very small dose, and I was astounded how low my heart rate was (upper 40s). For sure, that has to have some impact on your metabolic burn rate.

I don't find much of their stuff to be lower cal or diet friendly, but it's not bad either and if you can fit it in your meal plan, they do have some good things. I like their Indian frozen meals for a change of pace. I like their boxes of frozen white and brown rice. I always buy their crunchy peanut butter. Toothpaste,…

OP, I have about 10 lbs to lose and my level is set at 1410 calories and I'm having trouble sticking too it also. I am weighing everything. Everyday I do go over just about. I think I've had 3 days in the past 3 weeks where I stayed inside that goal. It is very, very hard for me and I've tried all sorts of combinations. On…

OP, I'm not in your situation anymore but I was at one point (Full time job, long commute, two kids). The crockpot was out of the question for me during the week because I was gone way longer than it's longest cycle, nor did I want to be putting things together at 5AM in the morning. SO....I would actually do my crockpot…

I've been on levothyroxine for over 20 years and it never caused me to gain weight. I had to have my thyroid removed due to cancer so maybe that makes a difference. Some things I've learned, heard from endocrinologists: 1. Taking too much can make you hyperthyroid very quickly. Often one assumes that if you go hyper, that…

I, for one, would like to know what your typical day looks like. I'm struggling to find things to fill be up at 1400 calories.

I'm pretty happy at about 145 lbs (which is only about 9 lbs from where I am). At my current weight, I am pretty uncomfortable around my midsection and very unhappy with how my clothing hangs. When I get into the 140s, I still have some cellulite and rolls, but it's much more tolerable and my figure is more uniform. I just…

Yeah, just having foot problems right now which is why I'm limiting my activity. And I'm not snacking waiting for anyone. I get home from work and immediately start cooking. The snacking is late afternoon or after dinner. I'm actually not snacking a lot. But when you only get 1410 calories it takes virtually nothing to go…

Thanks for the advice. Based on 1400-ish calories, I just feel like I have no room for anything. My diary is open, but I average about 230-295 for breakfast, in between breakfast and lunch, I have some hot tea with 1 tsp of sugar (and milk), lunch is usually a 250-330 calorie frozen meal, plus a yogurt. Some days I may…

I guess I'm really struggling to stay at 1410 calories and having a tough time facing the fact that I actually cannot even maintain at 1600. :'(

I do hope you are correct. Based on my history, I can go up a few pounds the day after a big meal. I know it is water weight and I am never concerned. I usually let go of it by the third day (should have been Tuesday or Wednesday). This morning, it seemed even higher than yesterday. To add to that, since I've been in…

If that was a thing, anorexia would not be an issue.

I *should* be able to do something exercise-wise, but haven't yet managed it lately. I'll get there though. I'm just really bummed that so few calories aren't working for me. Pretty sure my age isn't helping. I used to lose weight pretty quickly on 1700 calories. I just wish my hunger would slow down with my metabolism.

I would say it's just water retention. You won't know the real deal until probably the end of the week. I'm a bit nervous about today's Easter dinner. I've been somewhat okay for two weeks. My calories are set at 1410. I haven't been able to stick to that most days, but I'm close. I hope all the delicious food does not set…
