I don't know if it is chemicals or what but grocery store tomatoes (especially out of season) taste like pumpkin to me. It is the produce section version of biting into a chocolate chip cookie and realizing the chocolate chips are raisins.

I think most people consider $50 a substantial amount of money. Any purchase over $20 my husband and I discuss and honestly generally forgo.

I like warm diet Pepsi. It was the only thing that took care of my morning sickness with my second pregnancy. Diet Pepsi has been a staple if my diet during the last year while I lost 20 lbs.

Yeah, you are financially vested in liking something you paid more for. I've never considered confirmation bias as a huge factor in the fit bit phenomenon, bit it totally makes sense.
-
Wow, I'm surprised at the number of people with negative things to say. It seems like the majority of fit bit posts on MPF are unanimously positive. I'm a hater, myself. My motivation is internal and I resent anyone or anything trying to modify my behavior. So for me personally, I wouldn't use it. If someone gave one to…

That's a lot if almonds. Make sure you weigh them, they are very calorie dense.

Over the last year, I have been the only person in my family actively trying to lose weight. The hubby and three kids were not. Here's what I learned: 1. Their weight does not effect mine. 2. "I statements" work. As in "I feel like you aren't taking me seriously when you buy me pizza, and that hurts my feelings." 3.…

Alcohol can be dehydrating and can cause a brief dip in the number on the scale, which is water weight, not fat loss, which is probably what happened after that party. Welcome to MFP. You'll find a lot of very smart, helpful people in the forums. I would recommend posting your questions in the weight loss forum.

This is key. I've seen so many people lose core muscle strength because of similar things. Most simply got older and woke up with back pain. So they got a lumbar support, which isn't much different than a waist trainer. Then they lived in that thing for a month waiting to get a doctors appointment and lost a great deal…

By "getting pills" do you mean talking to your physician and having something prescribed and monitored? If so, that is not the path I've chosen, but I can't fault your for it. If you mean buying something sold on Facebook or and over the counter supplements, save your money. If those things worked, they would be considered…

Do you have a job? I would think about food more if I wasn't working, I'm sure. I moved when I was pregnant with my first and no one would give a pregnant woman (8 months pregnant!) a job, so I got a volunteer gig at that point.

I figure it's none of anyone's business. And I'd rather everyone think I have something like a good GPA, strong marriage, promotion, or a nice butt because I was endowed with superior protoplasm, not because I had to work for it like a normal person.

If you take a diuretic you don't need you can end up lightheaded or with a headache. Not much of a competitive advantage.

Those are interesting observations, but they really don't mean all that much. You note some (but not all) of the confounding variables which may contribute to this potential outlier (water retention). I work in a clinic where we measure people all the time. And sometimes the person holding the tape measure messes up…

I would be beyond pissed. It sounds like he added that on at the end so he could bill more for the same visit without putting the necessary work in. And I bet your insurance company won't cover another well check if they have this cities on the books for another year.

I am 110lbs and I couldn't sustain a 1200 cal diet. That's what it gave you because you chose such an aggressive goal (2lbs per week). Regardless of whether you keep that goal or adjust it (I'm sure you would still have a deficit with a higher calorie allowance), you have to know what you are actually eating. This means…

It sounds like you know what you're doing. Since you've lost weight, have you recalculated your goals? Your caloric needs change as you lose weight.

A dry grilled chicken salad has to be the saddest thing I've ever heard of. Why bother getting out of bed in the morning if that is what you have to look forward to? Someone needs to introduce you to steak. A nice fillet and some steamed vegetables are easily worked into a 1200 cal day.

What are your weight and height?

Why is 15g suddenly the magic roof for sugar? There was another poster who was all upset about going over 15g in another thread a day or two ago. That just seems so arbitrary

After workouts, be sure to wash your face and dry with a clean towel. Using a dirty towel can spread bacteria. Sometimes wiping sweat off of the face or using the same towel over and over can introduce bacteria to the skin and contribute to breakouts.

Yes, which is why pregnant women are advised to avoid animal sources of vitamin A. But barring a medical condition (like pregnancy), this isn't a concern for the general population.

I lost 20% of my body mass (25 lbs) eating bread on a daily basis. OP: carbs are not bad. Advice like sugom2 provided is bad. Read the stickies at the top. You can weigh yourself or not weigh yourself, that is up to you. But now that you have your weight, plug it into MFP and get a calorie count. Track everything. Weigh…

OP: most young teens will have a "chubby" stage before growing. The girl in question probably would have slimmed out as she grew with or without meat.

Congrats on both fronts (the loss and the period). According to studies in the US, between 97% and 99.7% of women who state there is no way they could possibly be pregnant are in fact not pregnant. Which is why it's good practice to assume all women are pregnant until proven otherwise.

Which limb are you planning on amputating? Actually, it might take more than one to get to 70lbs in 4.5 months...

I've done holidays on my own and skipped out on things that I might have felt obligated to go to and I don't regret it for a second. It can be so freeing to take back the day for yourself. There is no right answer in this situation, just a bunch of right choices and you can choose the one that is best for you.

If you only eat green vegetables and plants, you will gain the ability to photosynthesize. This will, of course change your daily caloric needs and you will have to adjust your MFP settings at that point.
