  • Omgosh, you are so right! I've just recently started reading and responding on MFP, and instead of educating eachother, learning, cheering eachother on, I have come across so much criticism from people who have yet to reach their goal and are in denial. I was really fat (gained over 50 lbs after each pregnancy. I was…
  • You look great! Good job :)
  • I lift heavy and do cardio. I lost over 25 lbs in the last 9 to 10 months. I have two young children. With each pregnancy I gained over 50 lbs and I'm only 5'2!! I still have some cellulite on my butt but I'm still 6 lbs away from my goal. Weight lifting is the fountain of youth. I'll be 48 next month.
  • Hi I'm doing LiveFit by Jamie Eason for a 3rd time! I lost over 25 lbs. I prefer to workout at the gym because of the childcare. I have small children. Also, it gives me a mental break and seeing other women Workout motivates me. How's it going for you? What did you decide on after all?
  • Ok I just updated my profile. Just a quick snaoshit after hitting the gym earlier, so I'm a but of a mess. As you can see, I'm not starving on 1200 calories. Lol!
  • I meant to say that I've lost about 1/2 a pound a week. It's been slow but I think it's because of the heavy strength training that I do. So, I'm pretty muscular. I should probably post an updated picture so people will know what eating at 1200 with occasional increases here and there looks like on a 5'2 woman in her 40s.…
  • History Girl, On my 1200 target (sometimes I go over to 1300-1500 but that's mostly when I eat out with my kids), I leave room for one indulge at the end of the day, after dinner. It helps satisfy my sweet craving. The indulge is usually 1 Fiber One 90 calorie bar and a cup of decaf sweetened with Stevia. It helps me…
  • Kruggeri, I think the comments actually support what you are doing. I went back and reread the comments from the women who are keeping and COMFORTABLE with their daily intake at 1200. Most (with the exception of a 2 or maybe 3 are in late 40s or older, sedentary and 5'2. The others are stating that mfp set them at 1200 but…
  • Hi I'm 5'2 and I've been able to lose over 25 lbs in the last 9 months. Currently, I workout about 5-6 days per week for 60-120 minutes. I strength train and do Cardio just like I did when I was in my 20s when I weighed 105 lbs
  • Sunnyrunner23 I had the same condition which is really weird because I'm the ONLY one in my family with the condition. I gained about 35 lbs in one year and had to quit my job because I had critical insomnia and fatigue. I wish I could run like you, though! My cardio is spent on the elliptical machines or fast paced…
  • I'm having a similar struggle at the moment. By the way, when you are 5'2 and your goal is 120 lbs. then 1200 net is accurate. I lost over 25 lbs. I had a medical condition but I'm healthy now. I still have another 7 more lbs to lose. One of the "problems" that I've encountered with MFP is that little message that you get…
  • I just sent you a friend request. I"m 5'2 and lost over 25 lbs these last 9 months. Right now I weight 127 but want to weigh 120 by June. My "ideal" weight (where I'm most comfortable) is at 115-118 lbs. I've been fluctuating between 124/125 to 127 for the last 5 weeks! I work out 5 to 6 days a week for 60 to 90 minutes. I…
  • I lift too but I'm not doing stronglifts although I'm familiar with it and the success stories. Currently, I'm doing LivFit from bodybuilding. Com for a 3rd time. This time I'm following the nutritional plsn. The last 9 months I lost over 25 lbs but now I have to change my eating to lose the last 7 lbs. I love lifting. I…
  • Thanks Vismal. I REALLY appreciate your response. I like the idea of not reducing intensity (weight on the bar example) because I don't want to lose the hard earned muscles I have but I want to lean out. I'm going to choose dropping a lifting day and replacing it with cardio. I also intend to decrease my calorie…
  • Wow, this "bulking" response was just what I needed! I've lost about 30 lbs and have been lifting for about 10 months now and have not been able to get rid of the last 8 lbs. By the way, 8 lbs is a lot when you're only 5'2. Anyway, ... I'm very strong and my body is hard because I lift heavy about 5 to 6 days a week for at…
  • I have the same problem. I keep exceeding my fat intake goal every time I increase my protein I take. I drink at least one daily protein shake. I don't like egg whites but I like the protein shskes. Lately, though, I've had a few days of success when I double the protein scoop for my one time shake and I pour a 1/2 or full…
  • Anyone here doing LivFit by Jamie Eason or any other program on bodybuilding. com? I'm doing LivFit for a third time.
  • My gym has lots of females but most are very young (under 30). I lifted in my 20s then took a break when I had my children and focued on my career. Then I gained lots of weight in my early 40s. Found out I had thyroid problem. Got on meds and lost over 25 lbs and am lifting again. I'm okay with lift by myself at the gym…
  • In the beginning I didn't follow the food plan at all. Or tbe first phase I was just trying to establish a routine. After the first phase, I lost 15 lbs and then I started to change my diet. I took things really slow because that way I could focus on one change at a time. She takks about it in the first few videos about…
  • I lost over 25 lbs. I have 6 more to reach my goal. What worked fir me AND IT'S FREE is LivFit program by Jamie Eason on www.bodybuilding.com. There are nany, many plans from beginners, mom's who just gave birth and advanced bodybuilders. Something fir everyone. What U love. Est about this site is that Jamie includes…
  • And, fyi, I'm 5'2 and my calorie goal is 1200. When I exercise, I usually burn between 300-480 calories but I still keep my maximum intake at 1300 to lose weight. I notice that when I give myself the green light to eat the number of calories that I burned, it backfires because it then takes me 2 or 3 weeks before I even…
  • Thanks for starting this thread Vismal! I lost 25 lbs. I need just 7 lbs to lose to reach my goal. I exercise rigorously 5-6 days a week. In my 20s I was always in excellent shape. I exercised and kept a food diary with paper and pencil. MFP is a godsend. I love the fact that you mentioned weighing everything. When I lost…
  • Forgot to mention, when I was in my 20s, I Only focused on calories in and out and was never overweight. I think with age (I'm 47), the quality of your food intake (fattening vs. Clean foods) makes a difference. That's my experience. Good luck!
  • I didn't pay attention to the macros, just the calories in and out and, of course, lots of exercise and I lost 25 lbs. BUT...recently I have reached a bit of a hurdle. Even with a deficit on average of 200 calories, my weight hasn't dropped and I exercise very regularly. I actually lift a lot. So, ...I started reading up a…
  • The difference, for me, is that I have to track everything I eat and track my fat vs. Carbs and protein intake. When I was younger, even in my 30s, I could cheat on one day then work it off in the gym the next day. Now I can't do a cheat day or I will gain weight. Instead, I allow myself one cheat meal once a week (Friday…
