  • Last good attempt in competition was 52.5 kg. I could have gone for 55 kg, but stayed conservative. I'm aiming for 60 kg for August.
  • I think if you focus on whole foods (and avoid processed foods), you will find success in what you're trying to do. That said, I agree with getting the advice of a dietitian, and trying to figure out what exactly is contributing to the yoyo/weight loss and gain cycle from a mental perspective. Just to make sure that there…
  • I haven't used shakeology because there is much more economic choices available to me, without having to buy it from someone I know. Or rather - I can walk into a store and have a vast selection of choices, and not be reliant on one person to bring in what I want. However, I do use protein shakes to boost my…
  • How often do you have to pay the $250? Customized workout plan is fine (not necessary, but not a waste of money if you want to spend it there). Body composition measuring is a nice metric to have (I assume it's the stand-on kind, which isn't accurate but you can use it as a reference point if you want to). If it's $250 for…
  • Your 3 lbs initial loss was likely glycogen and water stores being dumped with so little sodium and carbs. For myself, I'd probably stop seeing her. Prioritize protein to help spare your muscles as you lose your last little bit, then fill in the rest how you want. Maintain your deficit, and keep enjoying your life!
  • Do you have liver issues that you should be concerned about the workload? If you are otherwise in good health with no risk factors for your liver, then I wouldn't worry about it.
  • Yeah. I count my macros for performance reasons, but otherwise, I mostly eat what I like. :)
  • Stirrup Pants! That's what we called the leggings with the heel loop. And we put scrunched up socks over top.
  • Watch lots of videos to pick up on the mental cues you'll need to use, and to get a really good sense of what it should look like, so you can try to emulate what they're doing. Dumbbells, broomsticks, kettlebells, or without anything at all. It's a hip-hinge exercise, so drive forward with your hips (but don't overextend…
  • I did Paleo (lower carbs, but not Keto) with my kids. My littlest ended up putting on some weight when she was an otherwise hard-gainer. I don't think I'd go to the extreme of keeping my kids on Keto, as it's not easy to do, and as they get older it's impossible to control when they are not with you. If my kids had a…
  • Mine will start to hurt with a lot of sets/reps. I have to keep it close to 30 total reps working weight. It could be DOMS, you could be out of position/form... it could be newness to the movement. It's really hard to tell without video evidence.
  • OP at the whole pint, not just a half a cup. So it was nearly her whole points allotment for the day. Personally, I did WW with Points Plus and did very well. When they switched so Smart Points (and then Beyond the Scale), I stopped having as much success. Mostly because I'm a grown *kitten* woman who doesn't need to be…
  • I completely agree. I think it's time to reach out to your treatment team (or GP if you don't currently have a team) to discuss how you are feeling and what your body is doing. You sound pretty stressed about it, and it sounds like you are trying to limit your food by over-logging what you are consuming. They will be able…
  • Find a competition and do it! As long as you can move the empty barbell, you can compete. :) When I started, my lifts were all pretty low. They're nothing to brag about in present company, but I still feel accomplished and happy with my progress. Feel free to add me!
  • Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman. That was a thing. And Sully? Was that his name? I had one of those roach clip feathers (had no idea what it was) that I clipped at the back like his because I thought that was the coolest idea/look.
  • Some people are just more susceptible to DOMS. But I would still try a "tried and true" program for a few months and see if it eases or not. :)
  • Yeah, I think your caloric intake would be dangerously low, as WW penalizes fat intake fairly significantly in their last two programs. If you are concerned about caloric intake (and not exceeding what you need), you'd be better off to use MFP and keto. You can even upgrade to premium, if you'd like to pay for something as…
  • Your mileage may vary. So that was my experience once I switched to Strong Lifts (and now run a powerlifting program from my coach), but you may not have the same results as me. :)
  • I think that if you started working a specific lifting program, your muscles will start to "know" what to expect, and your DOMS will decrease (maybe? YMMV). But yeah - sleep. Sleep as much as you can!
  • Personally, I don't get a lot of DOMS, but I do the intra-workout thing with BCAA's. I don't know if that contributes. Not sure how old your kids are, but could you sneak in a nap? I feel awful when I'm lifting heavy and not sleeping enough.
  • Also: How much per night are you sleeping?
  • If you are staying under your calories, then yes, you will lose weight. How did you determine what your split should be?
  • I've seen it at Sobeys in Edmonton, but it's with the gluten-free/natural foods. I'm not sure on the price, sorry!
  • Sometimes I get jealous when I see thin people eating a bunch of food I'd like to eat (like a huge burger and fries). I know that I *can* eat those things, but I also know that it effects my goals, etc. I also know that I don't know anything about them, maybe they just ran a marathon, etc. So I'm usually able to talk…
  • I had to stop eating them because the ones I was getting (quest, kirkland) were upsetting my stomach. Like, in the way you read about online. I recently tried the snickers protein bar and it was so good. No adverse effects as of yet! They're certainly not a low calorie/low carb option... but pretty balanced between…
  • Pay to upgrade your MFP to premium for the advanced features (if they matter to you), and then have your bank account transfer whatever else you'd be spending on WW to a separate account. At the end of the year, use that fund to reward yourself with something amazing after all your MFP success! :)
  • It *looks* to me like the zipper locks when you flip down the little pull. I have had zippers like this before (not this bra though). So it should be good to go. This bra is on my list of things to buy, but I keep getting distracted by flashy, sexy other things. Like booty shorts and new jogging pants.
  • Evolve Strength & Conditioning. Pro: Lots of ER Racks and competition equipment. Generally "enough" equipment. Turf for doing sled work. Cons: It's not as clean in the women's change rooms as I'd like it, and there aren't enough lights in the shower area. More expensive that the ladies only gym I was attending (but they…
  • I rotate the same few recipes from week to week. I like the things I like and don't care if I eat them every day. For 3 years (all of high school), I ate Golden Grahams for breakfast, and a peanut butter sandwich for lunch every day (different snacks, but that's because my step-mom didn't buy exactly the same thing every…
