  • I've been doing this pretty well since January and have lost over 20 pounds. I don't have any friends on here yet, though. I'd love to try some more support!!
  • Prelogged dinner is red beans and rice with a side of roasted broccoli. Later I'll probably have a couple of chocolate chip cookies with hazelnuts and dried cherries.
  • I just noticed that the last time I answered this, I had eaten a banana. Same today...guess I'm a creature of habit :)
  • I save my favorite flavors for days when I've worked out hard and have extra calories. But when I just need a little something, I reach for the Half Baked Froyo!
  • Is it something you already own, know is comfortable for swimming, and will be comfy for the ride and run? If the answer is yes, then it is not ridiculous. :) You see all kind of things at triathlons...as long as you can do the distance in it, you should be fine. What distance is this for? Is it your first tri?! Oh, and as…
  • I live walking distance from a Whole Foods, but I try to only get things that I can't get at my usual grocery store. $$$ I most often pick up Siggi's drinkable yogurt and Guittard semi-sweet baking chips. Favorite indulgences are Theo chocolate bars, queso dip, and this amazing Izze clementine soda. I take a pass on the…
  • I make large batches in the slow cooker and portion out and freeze, and that's worked really well for me. Spaghetti sauce, red beans, curry, etc. Then I just defrost, make pasta or rice, and serve. Very quick and easy! For fresh meals, lately I like chicken thighs with some kind of roasted or steamed veggie.
  • No, I don't give myself a pass. I do crave more chocolate than usual, but I make sure to fit it into my goals for the day. I am really awful about cheat meals turning into days into weeks, etc. That's what brought me here, heavier than I've ever been. So for where I am right now, it is just normal days like any other.
  • Like everyone has said, fruits and veggies are great to add. Beans are one of my go-to ingredients for making sure I have a high fiber day. Black bean soup is a particular fav! Finally, I like the Phillips Fiber Gummies. My doctor recommended them to me as I was struggling to get enough soluble fiber.
  • Shouldn't you be burning more if you weigh more? A slightly higher BMR and all that?
  • You're my hero for the day! I had no idea how to do this, and as a desk jockey, I hadn't realized how sedentary I was. :)
  • I lost quite a bit doing the meetings...then I stopped going to the meetings and gained it all back :( I moved, and didn't really click with any of the leaders at my new place. I loved my old leader and they gang of people that went to "my" meeting. I think it really helped with accountability. It was also nice to be able…
  • I drink green tea, but I am overweight because I eat too many calories and don't exercise enough. I drink it because of the antioxidants, and I like the taste. If it turns out there are other added benefits, score! But I don't think it is going to magically make up for years of poor eating habits.
  • This! I do green tea in the morning, and switch to a herbal tea in the afternoons. Right now I'm really liking lemon ginger, which seems to keep me from feeling hungry, whereas the fruity herbal teas make me want to eat.
  • You mention that you're sedentary right now for personal reasons. I'm not trying to pry, and you don't need to confirm if you don't want to, but if you're recovering from some kind of injury or something, wouldn't your body be using extra calories healing you? Or is that just wacky broscience?
