Tried my first Quest bar today - definitely going to try a few to find the right one, but the strawberry cheesecake wasn't half bad!! Thanks!

I think the idea that occasionally or routinely skipping a specific "meal" could cause an eating disorder seems totally bizarre to me. Apparently, that's the general line of a bunch of professionals though. So your family is clearly not just making things up, but I don't think that means that obsessively eating at…

I will accept chocolate chips. :) I just don't love chocolate that much - don't even like most candybars - so chocolate-protein anything is a special type of gross to me.

I do an easy 10 minute walk home, then usually hang out. If I feel like I'm having muscle issues, I might use my roller or trigger point ball or do an easy 20 minute yoga routine. I'm still in active treatment though and get adjusted 3x/week. I work out in the mornings and my adjustments are in the afternoons.

Thanks for the QuestBar recommendation - they do fit into my macro list! I'm going to check out the hippie grocery on my way home this evening and just get a variety pack on amazon if I can't find them in store. I was hoping for more options, but when I say, "I don't like chocolate bars," people look at me like I said "I…

That article just talks about clear or pale yellow being good, no info about how more water would be a problem....

It's not cheap, but Soylent is designed to be a total meal replacement. You can use water and blender ball shaker without having to keep it temperature controlled. Not going to be tasty, but it'll work in a pinch if you don't have time for anything else. Better than starving, but that's about it. :) I'd probably create a…

Experiment a little - add another 100 calories at each meal for a week. My husband lost a lot fast at 1200 a day with weight training and cardio, but stalled out after less than a month. He added in a lot more protein after lifting and some moderate recovery carbs after a long run (for him, >60 minutes) and continued to…

Check out the nutrition boards. Post your ideas of what you want to do for macros (and why), wait 20 minutes, and you will find TONS of comments (mostly useful). That's a great way to find people who are already on top of it.

This is bringing up a lot of rage in me. I end up picking up my dog's poo AND some other dog's poo if I can grab it all in the same bag. I live in a city, downtown, where there are special dog poo bags and trashcans every half block! Why would you not even pick it up when it's only 6 inches from the station where the bags…

Ha! I'm an American and I totally get that too. Go to google and type in something like "1 cup in mL". It'll bring up a calculator that shows you the precise equivalent. For us, a "cup" is an actual measurement, not like saying one mug full or one glass-full.

What's your user name on UP? I don't find anyone with "lmrhen13" when I search for that.

I plan the heck out of my week. I just log everything in advance. I use the recipe builder and then adjust where I need to. Carbs too high on something? I look to replace tortillas with low-carb versions or lettuce wraps. Protein not high enough? I add in a protein shake later in the day. I also have a husband who knows…

I think that a drastic shift of your metabolism in three days (and then only sustaining it for 14) seems like a very extreme reaction to your history. If you really want to do a very low calorie diet, it seems like getting a physician to give you advice at the start would be the safest way to go. On the other hand, you…

Well yeah, but it's pretty in the jar in my kitchen. :) I don't even like pink, but for some reason, it seems more pleasant to eat the pink stuff than the white stuff. I'm not expecting to get much out of my salt other than flavor, so I'm probably just using the minerals thing as an excuse to keep eating the salt that…

Thanks for all the feedback on the splits themselves. I'm giving this a try to see if it's something I can live with right now, not married to the idea. I do want to give it a serious go and actually test it out rather than just saying that it's not realistic. The trainer is not a nutritional expert, which is becoming more…

Thanks for all these great ideas! I've got a plan of attack ready for this week:* I'm pretty hydrated most days (>2L of water everyday), but I need to stay on top of that or things will probably get worse. * I work out hard M,W,F in the early morning (starts at 5am), so I'm going to add half a banana to my recovery…

@Kirstytwin2 THanks for the recommendation on whey protein isolate and the explanation! Myprotein has a whey protein and a whey protein isolate, so I'll try the isolate next time. I still need to work out the best way to stay full from meal to meal, so I think the isolate after a workout and the why protein if I'm trying…

@Christine_72 I got the vanilla for a first run. It seems sweet enough without being overly sweet. I made it through the week without ever having a day that perfectly fit the macro split, but it was a good start. Next week, I have a plan that will get me closer. I definitely still go to bed hungry and wake up hungry, but I…

Got my myprotein from Amazon delivered yesterday. Seems like I'll like it! Thanks for the recommendation to go to the website directly; I'll check that out after a few more days of taste-testing. :)

This is almost exactly what I was looking for! I have been looking to see what it looks like for other people to live on 40p/30c/30f ratios. My overall calories are different, but I appreciate seeing this to get an overview of how at least one person is using that split.

Thanks for this recommendation! I ordered some from Amazon to see if it's a good fit for me. I really hope so since it comes in a bunch of flavors (though only in bigger sizes).

I have done the massage route (yay for chronic back pain!), but they are expensive and don't really do anything for pain or stress for me. I know a couple of people with lupus who swear that regular massages are a key to preventing flare-ups though! Huge help for lots of people.

The Zone Diet uses 30 protein/40 carbs/30 fat. I want 40 protein/30 carbs/30 fat.

I feel like "doable" and "reasonable" for me are things that I'd like to define. No one else knows anything about my goals, my day-to-day, etc etc, so those are subjective terms that only I can really evaluate. I'd love to know what protein shakes (that aren't chocolate) actually work to meet these requirements because…

I'm with you on that deannalfisher. I went with this group because they were supposed to provide specific nutritional advice. Instead (after charging my card), I got a standard printout of meal ideas. 60% of them are things that sound awfully unappetizing for me or that take more prep time than I want. I need protein…

What vanilla protein powder? I can't find any that will fit that macro list. All the trainer recommendations are chocolate, which I despise (I know, I know, I'm insane). Eggs put me over the fats really really fast.

I'm not eating that way now. 1 lasagna is 1 serving from a box that only contains 1 serving. I assume you are looking at the Amy's Frozen Lasagna - https://www.amys.com/our-foods/vegetable-lasagna This is a suggestion from the trainer I just handed a lot of money over to. I just want sample menus or days or even…

Suggested by the trainers. I just want to see some examples to decide if this sounds do-able or reasonable. I can't find examples, so I don't know.

If you're thinking of giving Wendler a try, Google around for some calculators and spreadsheets. I built a spreadsheet based on one I found on the interwebs. It lives in my Google drive and I just open it on my phone. It makes it pretty simple to just open that up and go on any given day Sorry, no big suggestions on your…
