Check out gaugegirltraining on YouTube. She has a series of videos on eating for your body type that I found super helpful!

In my experience, measuring cups and spoons are very inaccurate. Once I started using a food scale, weight started coming off. They are super cheap on Amazon for a decent one. :)

First thing so it's done and out of the way and I can't talk myself out of working out because "I'm too tired after work, I just want to relax" (used that one ALOT) So I wake up at 6 and do my workout at 7.

Fantastic information! Thanks so much for sharing this!

Try to focus on nutrition and hitting all of those values daily. I was anorexic when I was 16 and recovered, now at 30 I'm trying to lose weight the healthy way. Keeping my focus on nutrition gives my obsessive compulsive thoughts about calories a healthy positive outlet.

It's really hard to lose 2 pounds a week if you are short and don't have alot to lose (after initial water weight comes off) and probably not very healthy. 1200 calories a day should be the minimum, less than that is unhealthy, and 600/day is anorexia (been there, no fun at all and can really damage your body) Try seeing…

For me it was just a matter of rewiring my thinking over time. Every time I caught myself thinking about an aspect of my body negatively, I'd redirect my thoughts to one of the features I really like about myself. In the beginning it'd just be "ugh look at my stomach!" "Don't worry about that, look at your eyes, they're…

Workouts took alot of motivation at first, and I would have rather been on the couch, but after the first few weeks that changed. I love my workouts now and they are crucial for my mental health, keeping my mood balanced and keeping my energy levels up. :)

It drives me bonkers when someone comments on my weight loss, and then tells me how I should try the keto diet.
-
@InkAndApples lol I'm only five feet tall, my maintenance calories are only like 1600.
-
I can relate, some days it feels like I'm eating non-stop just to hit my 1210 calorie goal. It takes alot more healthy food, than crappy processed stuff to reach a calorie goal that's for sure!

I work 2 eight hour shifts, 3 nine hour shifts, and commute 2 hours a day, during the workweek. I workout 30-45 minutes every morning before work. Wake up at 6am, workout at 7, out the door by 9. Sometimes I fit a quick mile and a half walk in on my lunch break, only takes 15-20 minutes.
-
I'm 5 foot nothing and I can only eat about 1200 if I'm trying to lose a pound a week. 1600 would be maintenance for me.
-
Thanks everyone! I've still got 15-20 pounds to go, and then the real struggle begins... maintenance.
-
Great job! I can't wait til the day I can get back into my favorite jeans without having this muffin top!

52 days in, down 9.8 pounds, and feeling fantastic! :)

Good lord some of these responses are rude! If you can't respond without being a callous jerk how about keeping quiet? OP feel free to add me, my diary is open to friends. I'm on 1210 calories a day and some days its a struggle to hit that so I can totally relate. I'm really nervous about once I get to maintenance and have…

I used to be a very picky eater, my mom was the same way. I got over it by telling myself I eat for nutrition, I don't have to "like" it to eat it. Case in point, I really don't like almonds at all, but I eat them almost every day because they are nutritious. Not saying that's what you have to do, but it's what helped me.

Feel free to add me, my food diary is open to friends and I'm working with about the same number of daily calories as you. I also workout 6 days a week.

Early on I treated myself to a pretty expensive stainless steel lunchbox with all the accessories :) It's really motivated me to pack lunch everyday and take my meal planning seriously.

I have a little home gym set up with an elliptical and a Total Gym. I used to do 30 min cardio on my elliptical every morning, and walk my dog 2 miles every night, plus strength training 2-3 times a week. Now I'm doing 1 rest day a week, 2 strength training days, 2 easy cardio days, and 2 interval training days. But I've…

I'll add you! Welcome to MFP! This app really has everything you need to take back control. Try just logging your normal food for a few days to get an idea of your current calorie intake, and definitely get a kitchen scale to weigh everything. You can do it! :)
-
I pre-log alot of stuff I eat or drink often like coffee, then just change the amounts or erase the things I don't end up eating. Logging gets MUCH less tedious the longer you do it because all your foods get saved and are quick to add after the first time. I also plan my meals for the week on Sundays and just make…

Hey Rich! I fell off a couple years ago too and gained back the weight I'd lost. I'm 39 days in this time around, it was super hard to get motivated at first, but now I've got momentum and I'm feeling great! I'll add you :)
-
Feel free to add me, mine is open to friends. Nothing fancy, omnivore with regular carbs. I'm only 5 ft tall so my calorie goal is 1200, but I eat back about half my calories burned. :)
-
I'm 5' as well, starting weight was 138 and I'm down to 129. Goal is 115. My daily goal is 1200 calories and I usually eat back about half my calories burned. 35 days in and feeling great! Feel free to add me, my food diary is open to friends :)

Food has been way more enjoyable for me since I've started logging! I'm more focused on my nutrition now, so I've been eating lots of new stuff :)
