  • The way it was explained to me (before surgery) is that the gallbladder acts as a reservoir for the bile which helps in the breakdown of fats. Normally if you eat a high fat meal the reservoir allows a bit of extra bile into your system to break it down. Without a gallbladder the bile just "dribbles" into your system…
