I completely get the emotional/stress eating. It always makes me feel like crap.. both because of what it does for my body but also a double whammy because of what 'giving in' to eating it does to me emotionally (disappointed in myself, frustrated, sad, etc). Still a work in progress, but I'm getting better and not giving…

Depends on if you eat the veggies that you boiled with the ones or just the broth alone.

Have you looked at the resources in the Charlie foundations web site? My friend's daughter does Keto for her epilepsy and it works. http://charliefoundation.org

Mmmm.. fresh ground in store 80/20 on sale for 1.99 a pound. Maybe that is my hint I should try it. Seriously considering it. How much should you vary your meat? If I do eggs and bacon for morning and beef for the rest of the day for 30 days, is that ok or do I need to do other stuff too?

Ok- I'm in too. .... I did 10 days straight great, then was hit with medical stuff that screwed me up. I always have issues getting back into it. Tomorrow is day one--- again.

Real foods. Fruits, veggies etc.. I try very hard not to give them stuff with sugar, and when it does it needs to have fiber to help balance. But they do end up with sweets at parties and stuff. My nine year old made the comment ' Doesn't fat make you fat?' I said 'nope, sugar makes you fat, and thyroid issues.' I'm sure…

I did see a recipe online.. gelatin, unsweetened kool aid flavoring and Splenda or stevia.

I just don't like the sweetener it uses. I have yet to find one with something other than aspartame.

I am supportive like I would want him to be supportive of me.

Coffee?

I can relate. For me, I needed to do some therapy. Emotional eating can be a huge issue for people. Some people can just 'flip a switch' and make the change not to do it. Others, me included, need a bit more help.

Sorry. I think there were two threads about someone being new. The other one mentioned Atkins.... when I jumped back to get the link, I put it in the wrong thread... but the link still applies even if you are doing another LCHF plan. Now I need to go find the thread with the new person doing Atkins, but I'm sure someone…

Hi there... welcome. The posts stuck to the top have a ton of good info. I don't remember Atkins addressing electrolytes in his books, so this one may be really useful to you to start. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10358179/low-sodium-and-keto-flu-electrolyte-imbalance-may-be-your-problem#latest

Sounds like time for a new doctor to me

I have a Lily's chocolate bar handy. They are expensive but worth it when I need it.

I had issues adjusting a couple of weeks after the surgery but not since then. (3 years ago) I actually get 'the runs' after eating salads... go figure.
-
And yes, I'm poking fun at how they got the data.
-
'Responsible' how in the world did they get that from a national survey of dead people?

I normally sleep better, but I also take my magnesium at night. I think it helps.
-
I've seen a few threads on it, but I like to warm up a cup of chicken stock/broth, add a touch of butter and a few shakes on nu-salt. The broth alone gives you the sodium.

Not stupid. Bullet proof coffee

Everyone seems to find the way that works best for them. I'm 'a little bit of everything' method. I put in my info on the Keto calculator to get both my grams, percentage and calorie max. I make sure not to eat over my carb grams, reach my protein grams, ideally hit my fat percentage and under my max calorie amount.

I normally cook up a meat, veggie and then a starch that I don't eat. Hamburger/broccoli/mac and cheese Taco meat/sliced cucumbers/ they get the shells Rotisserie chicken/green beans/ rice Steak/asparagus/ rice for kids potato for husband. Those are four of the rotating meals at our place.

Thyroid issues affect your period too. So if you have your levels in a good spot, that could be a big difference. Keto is supposed to be good for PCOS, so I would think that it could also help with periods being more regular. I think that it takes a while to help with that.

I smelled the white bread when I made my kids a pb&j for lunch. I mean really smelled it. Didn't eat it, but it smelled wonderful.

Would once a month weight checks take most of the variability out of it?

4 carbs? That seems like a lot... I do coconut milk mixed with cream and an espresso shot for a lot less. I wonder if it tastes good enough to use it for 4 carbs.

LOL - I read that and thought of The Croods movie.
-
Sorry... no, but bumping for the evening for you.

I looked at some of the research links... interesting stuff, but too little too late for me. :'(
