I just watched an episode about a 22 year old girl named Christine (or Christina, can't really remember...oops) and her husband and mother were sneaking her food in the hospital when she was supposed to be on a strict diet. That made me really angry.

Don't let your family sabotage you. Try to be polite, and just say no when they try to feed you more. Eventually they'll stop badgering you (hopefully) or you'll have to just learn how to tune them out. I have found that when it comes to weight loss, you have to be your own biggest cheerleader. My motto in most things is…

If it's still the slimfast 3-2-1 diet, it's three 100 calorie snack bars, two 200 callorie shakes (or meal replacement bars, they have both) and one 500 calorie dinner (food of your choice). It's basically a 1200 calorie diet where you only have to plan for 500 calories. I did it for a couple months a few years ago. I…

This is actually something that bothers me about the show. They go meet with the doc, they get the surgery, and most of the time their emotional issues are never addressed, so they fail. I guess the idea behind giving them the surgery is that they're at death's door and it's supposed to be a last ditch effort, but I really…

I used to be very worried what people would think, so I rarely spoke my mind. I kind of broke out of my shell when I was around 20-21ish, and I started not giving a darn what people thought. So my username is a play on "Mindy says whatever she wants."

I'm concerned that you say most foods are off limits. That doesn't seem like an idea that is going to help you - foods should be moderated, not restricted unless there's a specific health issue going on. That being said, if you want to have one diet soda a day, that shouldn't be a problem. I personally have a bottle of…

I weigh myself every morning, but I also try not to take small fluctuations too seriously. I only log the weight if it's gone down though, lol.

I eat a lot of cereal. It's usually my go-to side with lunch, or my after dinner snack if I've got extra calories left over. I can't stick to one serving though. I usually double or triple it, depending on how many calories the cereal has. For example, my lunch today was three servings of the frosted cheerios. I do go over…

Strong first post. I had to go back and reread the OP to make sure, but nowhere does she claim she's an addict. I'm not going to broach that topic because the arguments it causes just wear me out, tbh, but you shouldn't label her as having an addiction when she hasn't said it first.

Yes, you can eat a burger.

Listen, we've been using sugar for CENTURIES and just now it's becoming considered "bad for you." That's because the main problem is that we've been eating too much food in general - we've gotten way used to eating TONS of calories, sugar, everything. and our portion sizes are out of control. Sugar in and of itself is not…

I drink almond milk because I like the taste better. The fact that it's less calories is just an added bonus.

Try not to look at logging food as a chore. I try to look at it like any other daily ritual for health like brushing my teeth, taking my vitamins/pills etc. I try not to overanalyze it because that led to binge eating in the past. I also have been focusing more recently (the past two months) on not beating myself up if I…

I really like shamrock shakes. I looked at the calories for a small one and said "darn, I can't justify spending 530 calories on this" So I went to Meijer, and I bought a container of 1/2 fat vanilla ice cream, mint extract, and green food dye. I made the same shake at home for 230 calories (using 1 cup vanilla ice cream,…

I steam salmon in my rice cooker (it has a steam tray) and that way it doesn't come out dry. I just cut up a lemon and put a couple slices in with it. Mine usually is a bit bland but I don't mind it that way - but you could always do this same thing and put more spices and stuff on it so it doesn't taste too bland.

I prefer MFP. I'm not a huge extrovert and I always felt uncomfortable at the meetings. Also, to be honest it seemed like the ones I went to were geared towards middle aged ladies, and I was always the youngest person there and the meetings didn't really apply to me at the time. I like MFP because if you want to learn…

I was gonna be like everyone and say "Uhm...Heck no." until I read your second post.. I was a binge eater for a long time. I can't say I'm completely cured because sometimes there are instances where I can tell I just feel like eating a lot of food. What has helped me to get my issues under control a bit is similar to what…

I had an 800+ calorie burrito one day a couple weeks ago. I went over my daily calories by about 1000 that day. I didn't dwell on it too much because I know that if I had, I probably would have continued the trend of overeating. Try not to feel too guilty. This whole weight loss thing is a journey and there will be a few…

I smile and nod, especially when it's my 60something year old aunt who always has some new suggestion on how to lose weight. This time it's "only eat corn once a week, because starch is bad!"

Sometimes we get cravings because we're deficient, other times I think we crave things if we've told ourselves we can't have them. It's partially why I've adopted the whole "Moderation" style of eating because I don't like to tell myself that there are things I'm not allowed.

Probably steamed rice. I eat a ton of rice.

Are you restricting sugar a lot? I've noticed that sometimes when we tell ourselves we can't have something, we tend to want it more. For example, I love pizza. I used to eat whole large pizzas by myself. Then when I first tried to diet, I cut out pizza entirely. I made it into a negative thing, and then when I was at my…

I don't know yet. My lunch isn't for another hour, and since I forgot to bring a homemade lunch I'm at the mercy of the cafeteria at the place I work.

I can't call it a diet. I basically consider this whole experience relearning how to eat. For me it's not really about what I eat, but how much. I'm a big promoter of everything in moderation. I tried restrictive diets in the past and it landed me with the nasty habit of binge eating. So far just counting calories and not…

I guess I'm lucky in that my master bedroom has the attached bathroom. I'd have to be pretty lost to end up in my kitchen. I never had any issues with night snacking though. To be honest, I don't usually wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom either - I make sure I pee right before bed. I know this is…

My fiance will eat what I make, and I really haven't done anything different or special when it comes to how I cook. The only difference is that I eat less. For example, I steamed some turkey Italian sausages and baked some sweet potato fries. I weighed out my fries and had 2 sausages. He ate the other 3, and the rest of…

I honestly don't know at this point, but that might be because I have a long way to go. I'm sure I'll have to keep a tab on it somehow to make sure I never let myself get this big ever again.

I did not start this year out planning to lose weight. I actually started on Friday, January 2nd. I know it looks kind of like I was a resolutionist, but I honestly didn't have any resolutions this year except to "Be happy." I used to be a Monday or a 1st of month type person. I found out that for me, it never worked.…
