The first picture was taken in August 2013, the last in January 2015. I'm not nearly done. I've lost almost 40 pounds (started at 243) and want to lose another 50....I love this progression at my interim goal.

you can do this...start today (or in the morning) and just stick with it. Find ways to deal with your stress that don't involve food. When i was going through my divorce, i exercised like crazy. Follow the MFP program recommendations to eat enough to fuel your body, yet lose weight....YOU GOT THIS!!!!! Friend request sent.

i carry mine all in my torso. It's easy to see that compared to my legs and arms (which pretty much have no fat left, LOL!)....since I've started MFP and with my new trainer, my torso is slowly starting to go down.

for me, i'd take the lowest number ;) however, you can just average the ones that you have. From now on, just step on once and call it a day.

I've been getting my protein powder (whey protein) from the gym, although down the road I will look for a comparable (and maybe cheaper) alternative. I LOVE it! it easily enables me to hit my protein goals and when mixed in a blender with milk, ice and olive oil (you don't taste it), tastes JUST like a chocolate milk…

I get plenty of carbs -- just not in the form of breads, pastas, etc.

It does work for me. My trainer has me on 1436 calories per day for right now. There's not a lot of wiggle room there especially when I am trying to balance out and hit all my macros. It's rare that I have any room at the end of the day for "decadent" treats....But, that being said, my body is responding really well to…

This is interesting...I am mainly thinking of calories. Burning more than you intake. It takes me two to three hours to burn up to 1000 calories. Can you elaborate on your quote?[/quote] I understand what you are saying but don't think i can explain it well. it may be that their comment didn't just relate to calories…

I'll try to clarify...i enjoy all the foods that I eat, BUT...I can't routinely eat the things I LOVE -- like ice cream, cake, chocolate, etc...for ME (and I'm only speaking for myself), I have to get used to eating those things that my body needs and have the "other" stuff only on special occasions....I hope that makes…

i felt the same way as you before I tried them. I LOVE my protein shake. I make it with milk and ice and run it all in the blender. Tastes just like a milk shake.

If you don't find them filling, then my guess is that you are not using one that's high in protein. I LOVE my protein powder. It takes the guesswork out of breakfast, has 22 grams of protein, tastes just like a chocolate milkshake and keeps me full until lunch. Since I foresee doing this long term, it absolutely helps me…

Remember that 1.) It is a marathon, NOT a sprint. What you are doing is building healthy habits for a lifetime and 2.) This is a life program and you are learning new habits. 3.) Also, it's possible that you are doing TOO much exercise. My gym trainers have said that more than 60 minutes per day of cardio comes with the…

<<That's fair enough. I take it you'll be cutting out carbs for the rest of your life though? If not, how do you propose to deal with any cravings when you reintroduce them?>> I have a feeling that I will really limit my carbs for the long haul. As of right now, I don't really miss them -- and that does surprise me. I have…

i try to keep my routine as much the same as possible. We eat out very little now because it is really hard to control nutrients and calories outside of the house. One thing I do during the week is make "extra" portions of chicken or turkey and then bag them into 4 oz plastic baggies. Also, I have my protein shake each…

it allows me to more easily hit my protein goals. it makes my mornings easy and stress free trying to figure out what to eat and it holds me over to lunch. i make mine with 8 oz of milk, 2 scoops of chocolate and ice and blast it in my blender. It truly tastes just like a milk shake!!!!

had dinner out tonight at a place that does pancakes and other stuff....by-passed the pancakes and french toast (although i did have a few bites of my husband's pancakes) for a mostly veggie omelet (with some cheddar)...and I did get a side of corned beef hash...I managed to be under my calorie count for the day -- and…

I'm going to disagree with the others in that I've cut carbs (pasta, rice, potatoes) out -- almost completely through my trainer's instructions. I've increased my protein and fat intake and find that, since doing so, I don't get cravings late in the day. I still celebrate special things with food -- like Valentine's Day -…

I also have a vivo fit by Garmin. I love it! I don't use it to keep track of calories, although I could. I use it to count # of steps. Yes, it does measure things like teeth brushing -- although if that bothers you, just remove it for that. i like that it reminds me to get up and move. I enjoy the sleep feature -- when you…

i should also add that I'm constantly impressed by how much I can do now, that I couldn't do when I started. Just start.

I started with a personal trainer when I was 243 lbs. We did a combo of cardio, strength training, core work and flexibility. It took quite a while to build up the stamina to easily handle 12 minutes on the elliptical. Now, I can walk on the treadmill for an hour. I still can't jog/run for any real length of time but have…

i have a 24 oz. water bottle. I drink 3-5 of them per day.

in august 2013 my husband and i vacationed at a resort in the Poconos. On site, they have professional photographers taking pictures. One of the pictures was taken with me on his lap...and I just looked SO overweight. I didn't purchase that picture, although now I wish I had since it's become my motivation! I still have…

when i started with my first trainer, that was one of the first things to go. I substituted that for water flavored with crystal light....and drink 3-5 water bottles (24 oz each) per day. the only time i have diet soda is if I'm eating out at a restaurant and then I don't usually drink the whole thing anyway.

every time i step on the scale at night (because I feel like I've had a good eating day), I step right off with the mantra -- don't weigh yourself at night, don't weigh yourself at night....LOL!

Weight Lost: 37 lbs. , probably at least another 30 (or maybe more!) to go Started with a personal trainer in August 2013...made huge diet tweaks -- no diet soda, 8 or more glasses of water per day, red meat down to about 2x per week cardio and strength training throughout the year and a half.... now working with a new…

one thing i've done that helps a lot is to plan my meals a week in advance -- and then tailor my grocery list to that. I also found that since starting with my new trainer and meal plan that I'm generally eating 1-2 large salads per day -- and having protein in each meal. I use a protein shake in the morning which easily…

on my 5' 4" frame, I started at 243 and was wearing size 22s. With almost 40lbs. lost I was down to a size 18 in most things, but my latest dresses were size 16s

congrats on the milestone!!!! I'm always jealous of how fast men generally drop weight. I think i weighed 120 when I was 18 :)

soda -- both diet and regular, fast food and, recently, carbs
