I went through a juicing (more blending really) phase a few years ago. Didn't do it so much as a weight loss tool and more that it made for a really convenient OTG breakfast.

Scales are only really useful for tracking relative changes in weight rather than absolute values so you can't really relate the readings from one scale with another (at least not reliably) IF Scale A shows 200lbs and Scale B shows 202lbs and you achieve a 2lb loss during the week the scales will show 198 and 200…

Started at about 160kg (352lbs). Now 109kg (240lbs). Will eventually get to 84kg (185lbs) I started (and continue) by keeping it as simple as possible. I have 1 rule and 1 rule only. "Most of the time eat fewer calories than I use" That's it. I eat food I like (without moralising or judgement), track what I eat (as…

No worries. Probably because it's in the wrong section. You can tag your post and one of the admins will move it for you. You might get some people interested in getting involved or you might find there's already a challenge in there for you all to join.
-
OK, well, there's a specific forum for challenges. You might have more luck finding people to join you there.

This has always been my favourite one

What challenge is this?

If you're overwhelmed then start simple an I mean really stupid simple. The good thing is managing your weight is a really simple process (simple, but not always easy). Eat more calories than you use an you'll gain weight. Eat fewer calories than you use and you'll lose weight. That's it. That's all there is to it. What…

That's the great thing. If IF is right for you then you don't need 'accountability partners' or 'motivation' or anything like that because it will be easy. If you're struggling then that's a sure sign that IF might not be a good fit for you and you should try something new until you find the thing that makes eating in a…

In the hierarchy of plague carriers it goes Children => Mosquitoes => Rats

Really, the only person who can answer that question is you. The way I see it the problem isn't weight gain in and of itself, putting on a few pounds while enjoying life every now and then is perfectly normal, healthy and acceptable behaviour. It's uncontrolled, or unintentional, or perhaps unconscious weight gain that…

I have to admit that I did find 'corpse pose' to be somewhat meditative =)
-
I don't know if 'yoga' and 'mediation' belong in the same sentence. I tried yoga once or twice and to be frank it was quite possibly one of the least relaxing and meditative thing I've ever done! LOL

You think having to wait a year and three months to reach your goal weight is disheartening? Think about how disheartening it will be in 5, 10 or 25 years time when you look back and realise you've stayed overweight all that time because you were too impatient do things sustainably. That's the position I found myself in…

I suppose there's two ways you can look at it. 1. Weekends are a work thing not a food thing so Sat and Sun are just another day of the week and subject to the same calorie goals and whatnot as Mon-Fri 2. Weekends are a bit loose so you bank or save up a few calories Mon-Fri so that you can enjoy them later

Yeah, I thought the smiley conveyed the flippant nature of the last line of the comment. I guess not

Firstly tomorrow never comes so you start right now. Not at your next meal, not soon. This very moment. You've already started. Secondly, your approach needs to be all encompassing and permanent. Going out to dinner or to the movies or all those other things that happen called 'life' need to be a part of the plan and…

I'm torn on this. On one hand I think it's unreasonable to expect someone to 'sacrifice' or 'suffer' for another persons weakness. No one should have to do without because of someone else's problem. There needs to be personal responsibility for actions. Yes the wife is bringing the food into the house but she's not the one…

Many people are satiated by a particular macro so can focus their diet towards eating more fat, protein, etc in order to feel full and satisfied. Others are volume eaters, meaning that rather than being satiated by a particular type of food they tend to get/stay full by eating larger quantities of food. If this is the case…

Yep, that's the whole 'newbie gains' thing. Improving form is one of the reasons you tend to need to workout longer and harder as you progress. In the same way that much of the 'strength' improvements made while lifting aren't actually the muscles getting stronger rather it comes from improved form and neurological changes…

Complete lack of motivation for the gym is an easy one to fix. Don't go to the gym! Somewhere along the way it got into the zeitgeist that the only valid way to work out is to hit the gym which is complete rubbish. All you need is to be active and if the gym isn't fun then find a way to be active that IS fun. There are…

Back when I worked an IT helpdesk we used to raise 'PEBCAK Error' tickets to our onsite engineers. Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard It essentially was intended to warn the guy doing the visit that the user was likely to be problematic and unwilling to listen. There were also 'One D Ten T Errors' for when people…

I eat chocolate every night. Every. Night. How many I eat is dictated by a combination of how many calories I have left and a trade off of how much I want the chocolate vs how much I'm willing to take the minor hit to my weight loss rate. Sometimes that extra few chocolates is worth it.

I tend to work long hours these days so usually just buy food on the go, or I have a bunch of frozen meals ready to chuck in the microwave when I get home. Plus I live alone so there's even less motivation to cook as I have no one to cook for. When I had more time to cook I tried meal prepping and planning but it just…

LOL! I'm not gonna lie. That hit the mark and stung a little :D

Firstly, there's no need to click the 'complete' button. It doesn't actually serve any function beyond giving you a message saying that it's done and a prediction that's so inaccurate its best just ignored. If you need advise on logging in your diary it can help to have your diary open, at least temporarily so that people…

Activity level in the MFP sense is 'normal life' not including deliberate, purposeful 'workouts' which are counted for separately when they occur. That said the activity levels are just general ballpark figures anyway so pick on that you think is correct and, based on the results you get you can move up or down a level.

Pre-log it. Nothing goes past the lips before it's in the log. Perhaps the inconvenience of having to go through the process of logging will make that 'one bite' not worth the hassle. Perhaps once you've logged it and seen in hard data the impact that 'one bite' will have on your daily calorie target it won't be so…

Not a good idea to share personal details like email addresses on a public forum...

I think one of the biggest problems I had in the past with my unsuccessful weight loss endeavours was the 'exercise = more food' mindset. The fact that I wasn't tracking my calorie intake only exacerbated the problem because I'd 'reward' my 300cal workout session with a 1000cal feed. The shift in thinking to decouple…
