  • LOL! the 2 disagree's this post currently has demonstrates that not everyone gets jokes =)
  • In this day and age it would take a concerted effort for someone to become malnourished due to food choice. Any diet that contains even a semblance of a hint of any sort of variety is going to provide the macro and micro nutrients needed. I mean when was the last time you heard of someone with adequate access to food…
  • I work from home on occasion and the temptation to not move all day is definitely something of which I try to be mindful. One thing I have done is to ensure that when possible any meetings I dial into become walking meetings. I'll dial in, stick my earbuds in and walk around the neighbourhood. A couple of meetings…
  • Weight comes down to to the simple concept of calorie balance. Eat more calories than you use and that energy will be stored as body fat. Eat fewer calories than you use and your body will draw on that stored body fat to make up the deficit. All programs like WW and SW do is take the very concept, obscure it behind some…
  • This is so discouraging!! I mean because of my schedule I pretty much live on take away, "fast food" and frozen meals. I'm just devastated that the over 100lbs I've lost is unhealthy. I'll also have to get in touch with my doctor and tell him that the check up he performed and pathology lab results I got recently which…

  • Don't really remember seeing anything different in the mirror after 50lbs lost but I knew it was happening because the scales were moving. Probably wasn't until I'd lost close to 80-100lbs that I could look in the mirror and acknowledge there was a difference in what I saw staring back. I think in my case this may be due…
  • I don't think the problem is what you're eating or even that you're eating out frequently. Based on your calorie target you clearly have a lot of weight to lose and quite frankly the margins are sufficient that variances between fast food servings isn't likely to be large enough to be a factor (based on my experiences).…

  • You've started a number of threads OP some of which seem a little concerning. It sounds to me like you're looking for a short cut, some magic bullet that's going to do the work for you or some super-secret that will fix everything. That's, unfortunately not how it works. In order to lose weigh you need to create a…
  • I spent over 25 years losing weight quickly. Only took me 2 years to do it slowly. Turns out fast results take more 10x longer than slow.
  • Pretty simple really. I don't have any bad days. That's not to say that I don't have days where I eat too much or days where I'm lazy and don't do what I should. They happen I just refuse to get all judgemental and call them 'bad' and beat myself up about it. It's just the way life goes sometimes and it's only 'bad' if you…
  • Pain isn't necessary. The only reason people say 'No Pain, No Gain' is because it's way more catchy than 'No Work, No Gain'
  • I've always subscribed to the notion that the best exercise you can do is the one you will do and the best time to do it is whenever you can do it.
  • So your criteria for food is "Doesn't make me vomit"? I won't lie, that makes me really sad for you.
  • 0 pounds. I achieved my 'goal' the very first day I started to eat appropriately. The fact that it's going to take a few years for my body to catch up and correct itself is irrelevant.
  • Then you're seeking an acceptable level of pleasure from your food. If it's just fuel then why does texture matter? Why do we have taste buds? Of course food provides the energy and nutrients needed to sustain life but to dismiss it as nothing but fuel is just plain disingenuous. Pretending that you derive no pleasure or…
  • Can't say that I've experienced headaches related to weight loss. How severe is your calorie deficit? What new foods/drinks have you added? What foods/drinks have you eliminated?

  • Daily weigh in every morning. After bathroom, before getting dressed Daily weigh ins are entered into a trending app and a spreadsheet for tracking and calculate the average weight for the week which is entered into MFP on Sunday as my 'official' weekly weigh in weight That said I'll also jump on the scales pretty much any…

  • Quite simply, food isn't just fuel and it's folly to think you can view it as such. Anyone who tells you that they just treat food as fuel for their body and they're not subsisting on a puree nutrient paste is kidding themselves.
  • I disconnected mine from the wifi a while ago as I tend to do multiple 'curiosity' weigh ins throughout the day it was just data overload and messing up the recording and tracking of my results.
  • My can't quit, or more accurately won't quit is 'anything new'. Some company releases a new flavour of something then I'm 100% gonna make room and try those bad boys.
  • Yeah, I tried it expecting it to be all relaxing and zen like. NOPE! It totally kicked my butt. Guess it's just not my thing.

  • When I'm not hungry or I fall asleep... Well I assume I stop eating when I fall asleep but, well, I'm asleep so I can't really know for sure =)
  • That's because it's not interested in helping people lose weight permanently. There's no profit in that so they sell convoluted 'programs' that offer a temporary fix so that you think it's effective and you'll keep coming back and forking over your money time and time again.
  • Couldn't agree with the bold statement more. This shouldn't be a battle. You're not fighting a war. I'm a firm believer that the worth the approach is measured in it's longevity and sustainability rather than it's effectiveness and speed. Meaning that getting so-so results from something that is easy and you could do…

  • The best way for a self confessed terrible planner is to not try and follow a plan. Weight loss occurs when you create a calorie deficit. So the best suggested foods are 'foods you like' and the best portion size is 'enough of those foods to fit your calorie goals'. Just keep it simple. Eat foods you enjoy, use MFP to…
  • Yeah, I don't think I've ever felt the need to give myself a reward as I don't feel like I'm doing anything special or out of the ordinary. It's kinda hard to put in words. I guess from my perspective my weight loss hasn't come from doing something extraordinary or unusual to eat an appropriate calorie intake, but rather…
  • I really like that analogy! Sometimes you just need a short rest to roll a few hit-dice and get some HP back. But sometimes you need to take a long rest to fully recharge and replenish all those spell slots and class abilities #dndnerd =)
  • Not at all. All science started out as a hypothesis. Then through application of the scientific method and constant review and refinement either gets show to be plausible and a confirmable theory or disproved. Pseudoscience also starts out as a hypothesis but skips the testing and proving stage and leaps straight to…
  • The problem is often tomorrow never comes. Starting tomorrow often ends up with starting at the next tomorrow and then that tomorrow isn't right so you start at the next tomorrow, then something goes awry in that tomorrow so you get determined that tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be the day. And on and on and on. If it's in…
