@ROBOTFOOD Good to see you back on! @MobyCarp Balance is one of the hardest things we do in yoga but is the easiest one to practice. Sometimes throughout the day when I'm standing, I'll shift my weight to one foot but not lean and relax the knee and the toes of my planting foot. Then hover the opposite foot above the…

@katharmonic - Congrats on mile PR! Great workout! That does sound grueling. @PastorVincent - Hope everything goes well for your son on his first day. I feel ya on the making friends part. Mine had his first day of middle school and I was nervous too. He's new to this school system but had his older sister to help him at…

Went on a long (for me) run yesterday because my running buddy decided to postpone the AT run, I don't think I'm ready for that. Plus I don't have trail shoes. The run felt really good. I feel a little sore today though. Man the weather's been so nice! I hope everyone's running good and healing up. Good job getting out on…

Hey everyone! Geez this thread moves fast! Sept goal -125 miles. It's a step up from Aug (50 miles) since I was babying my hamstring. I have a HM on the 16th. I haven't run one in 1-1/2 years so it'll be interesting. I'm not much of a distance runner. Sept 1 - 10 miles @8:12 min/mi avg pace I got dragged out to run…

Hey everyone! Hope everyone’s staying healthy. So sorry to hear about MobyCarp. You’ll be back to running (and passing us) in no time though. Sorry, I’ve been MIA with work getting real busy and hamstring healing. It kind of was a blessing in a way. It would’ve been torture being healthy but too busy to run. I’ve slowly…

3 demerits :) ;) :D

IMO I wouldn't push yourself if you haven't been running that speed in a long time. That's the fastest way to get hurt.

@MobyCarp Thank you for the insight on marathon training and training plans! I copied and pasted it into my training plan spreadsheet and highlighted all the "slow down" comments. Today's run was good. It was my usual runs with the running group. Onion run (4.3 miles) @ 5p EST followed by WSG Run (3.1) @ 6p EST. It was a…

K, good luck with your plan. I'm sure if you follow it pretty good, you'll feel ready. I'm trying to follow a plan my buddy gave me but it just lists distances on days. Later in the plan it just says "Speed Day 5.0 miles". What do I do with that Patches O'Houlihan?!? After reading a lot of this thread, I feel like there…

Yes, to know you have reserve and a "cruise gear" to keep going is a great feeling! Thanks! I'm doing the marathon with a running buddy of mine who's done dozens of marathons and he's nonchalant about the training plan. This will be my first marathon so I'm a little nervous. He'll just register for a destination marathon…

That sounds painful. Sorry to hear. I've had calf strain in the past and wearing compression calf sleeves has helped. I'll even sleep in them. If it's only one calf I'll double up the sleeves on that one. Hope you get to see your GP/PT quickly.

@MNLittleFinn So sorry to hear about injury. Do have an idea what it is?
-
@MNLittleFinn You did awesome to just finish! That sounded brutal. I liked reading your race report. @MobyCarp Great job on pacing HM and for picking up the AG award! @RespectTheKitty Good job getting outside and forcing through the running blues. You too @MobyCarp! @KatieJane83 Wow! you've really upped your training and…

I've been lazy this month but my hamstring is finally feeling a lot better. Yesterdays runs were good. I went too fast but it felt good to just be running without injury. It's summer so it's hot like most of y'all are experiencing. It was 92F/33C with 84% humidity at run time (5:00p EST). My half-frozen hydration pack was…

I like to imagine I'm holding Pringles in my mouth. That always makes me run better. :D @skippygirlsmom - Sorry you're having to move your mom. That has to be an emotional drain too. Congrats @MobyCarp on the AG award (with the walk off). I once saw a guy win OA and collect the award, look at it, then just hand it to a…

Jogging in place?! This was my hill intervals, I know I was going slow but MFP is just being rude now.
-
I would personally stick to your original HM training plan where cars randomly drive by throwing eggs at your feet to keep you on your toes. :D That seemed to work good for you.
-
Thanks for the reminder @Stoshew71. I do have to concentrate a lot more on my form when I force myself to run slower. I tend to get hunched over and lazy with my limbs.
-
Thank you @garygse! That's a good point too. I still do vinyasa yoga three times a week but I've been sporadic with any lifting. I'm going to do the two exercises you suggested.
-
@MobyCarp I was hoping you were on here. Thank you for the wisdom! I bumped up from averaging 37ish per over 4 weeks to 53 completely violating the 10% rule. As you can see from above they were all easy paced miles but miles are still miles. I got caught up in this run challenge at work. I'm going to go for a bike ride…

Hey everyone! I've been out with a pulled hamstring from last week. I think it's from overuse. I've upped my miles too quickly, too many times from week to week, and now I think I'm paying for it. Super frustrating. It only hurts when I run of course so I've been biking a lot. It's really hard biking and having to watch…

This is the strangest HM training plan I've ever heard of.

I wear the Superfeet green in my running shoes and the people at the running store said change them every other time I change shoes so every 600-1000 miles. I've yet to find a cheaper source, sorry.
-
@JessicaMcB Congratulations on finishing Banff! Sorry it was a bad experience. That's a good sign your knee only subluxated once and it was only one. I don't know how you do it. You're an inspiration!

Welcome @MoWheels and @azellz! This is a knowledgeable and helpful group of runners. The hardest pace to maintain is trying to keep up with this thread. :D
-
@MrsKGrady Awesome job! Nice AG placement!

@KatieJane83 @cburke8909 and anyone who runs with hydration packs. I bought mine a TJMAXX too. I went running the other day to test it out for the first time. I read on a forum how to best use and take care of them. This one user has had his for 12 years. He stored the bladder with hose attached, empty with fill cap…
