I have had this problem with both the Flex and Charge HR. I figured out that for me, it was caused by moisturizer or suncreen being trapped on my skin under a section of the Fitbit that was pressing on my skin for hours or even all day. Now I make sure anything I put on my skin has soaked in before I put on my Fitbit. I…

My experience was very different. I wore my Flex while Dragon Boating (paddling) for over a year, for 3 hours a week, year round, with my wrist plunging in the water for every stroke. We did switch sides, but that's still half of every practice. It was also soaked in the rain many times. It still works great. I upgraded to…

I upgraded and I'm so glad I did. It's very motivating to see my resting heart rate decline over time. Plus, I like not having to enter different exercises. Between my steps and heart rate, my Fitbit Charge HR figures it out. I just put it on. It functions as a watch, alerts me of incoming calls, gives me a numerical step…

You may be able to find folks here to remind you to stay on track, but the reality is that if you stop logging in, that goes away. MFP friends won't replace a flesh and blood person who knows your face, name and your phone number. The only place I know of where you can get that support for free is Overeaters Anonymous, or…

Thanks for the correct information, heybales! That makes sense.

I never had them. Mabe a few warm waves, that's it. Everyone is different. I did get raging headaches that nothing but time could cure. I could tell they were hormonal because, well, I just did. Thet were always accompanied by a slight nausea and intolerance to caffeine. Which was a bummer because I love coffee! Thank…

I currently work from home remotely and most of my exercise is walking. I have my activity level set to sedentary and let Fitbit=>MFP adjust my calories based on activity. I have had work bomb days where I barely move away from my computer and it's good to see the consequences in the form of a smaller calorie allowance.

Plateaus are normal. I'm a little discouraged myself today because my weight loss has slowed down. But I know it could pick back up. Did you lose the 8 pounds slowly or was there a big drop before the plateau? Another problem could be that you are eating too many calories. If you do not measure, weigh and log absolutely…

The simple answer is to hook it up with MFP and let it do everything. First day is going to be wonky. Let Fitbit work with MFP and eat what MFP says you can eat.

Walk to public transportation and get off a few blocks before work. Walk to lunch, whether it is a restaurant, food cart, grocery or park bench where you eat your healthy bag lunch. Talk to colleagues personally instead of calling or emailing. Take those 10 minute breaks and walk around the block. Move your own paper. Get…

I'm chiming in on the easy route. I have a Charge HR and let it calculate everything. I set it for sedentary, it syncs constantly with my smartphone, and I get a running tally of my available food calories based on my activity. I don't eat back all of my calories unless I'm actually hungry, and I am off sugar. I'm in my…

I lost my Flex and bought a Charge HR in January. For me, it's perfect and I'm so glad I did. I eventually found my Flex. Now I charge one while wearing the other. I just take one off and put the other on, I don't have to do anything else since they are both linked to my Fitbit account. The Flex is waterproof so I wear it…

I have the Samsung Note 3, which has a huge screen. I personally love the large phone because I can read the forums and do everything for MFP and Fitbit on my phone. Now that there is a Note 4, you may be able to get earlier Note phones for less. All Android.

I'm also in the hooray for Fitbit crowd. I have had a few lazy days and it's shocking how little I can move. No wonder my diets kept "failing." Now I have both MFP friends and actual, real life friends on Fitbit. The latter is especially important because I know that people I know well can see when I'm active and when I'm…

Wow!!!! That's a super active life! I'm very impressed. I'm sure more knowledgeable folks will opine shortly but it seems to me that the only exercise you need to log into Fitbit is strength training. Which in itself doesn't burn a lot of calories, but the muscle mass it generates will. I'd wear my Charge HR all day, every…

No, I'm saying that nearly every day it predicts at least a 10+ lb loss over the next 5 weeks, when the reality is half of that. "The math" isn't taking my middle aged and documented metabolism into account. This particular function of MFP is my overly optimistic cheerleader. Sweet, but not to be taken seriously.

It's not listing a calorie adjustment today because it's early. Unless you've done a few thousand steps already, it won't give you extra calories until you've earned them with exercise.
-
Well, I appreciate this! Every body is different. I have found in general that reducing carb consumption decreases my appetite, and I try to avoid them, especially after 5 pm. Congrats on your weight loss and fitness!

I weigh myself almost every day, and I enter every weight loss. I love going to my phone and entering the new weight, even if it's just a .2 loss. I don't want Aria entering a false "gain" for me, so I'm sticking with my old scale. And I love geeking out on gadgets... this one just isn't for me.

I also wish that step counts were posted to MFP, but they are not. You can add your MFP friends to be Fitbit friends, and can share your steps that way.

Thank you for the feedback!

The Fitbit app will also give you a map of your walk. Go to "Track your exercise", click on the stopwatch icon in the upper right corner, turn your phone GPS on and click on the Fitbit app arrow to start.

As of last week, you can have and use both! I got my Charge HR in January when I thought I lost my Flex. I subsequently found the Flex. Now they are both linked to my Fitbit account. If I'm doing something splashy or want a sleeker look I wear the Flex, but prefer the Charge HR most of the time. When I'm charging one I…

I signed up for the free trial about 15 minutes ago. I filled in the forms, was told that we were going to work together to increase my activity level, then, nothing. Nothing is different on the website or the app. In what form does this assistance take?

Bump, because now I finally understand.

Unless it bothers you to sleep with the Flex on your wrist, why not keep it on? I find it helpful (or at least interesting) to track my sleep.

I liked my clip on Fitbit, and it survived the wash twice. Not three times, though. Being destroyed in the laundry is the most common complaint about the clipons.

It's my understanding that body fat measurement via electric current resistance is not accurate if you have large metal parts in your body, such as a hip or knee replacement. Re daily weighing.... the variance is exactly why I weigh myself every day and sometimes more than once in a day. If I work hard all week, on track…

I linked my old Flex with no problem. When my Charge HR was charging, I put on the Flex. After, I put my charged Flex in a drawer and put on the Charge HR.. I don't have to do anything to the app, it seamlessly went from one to the other and I didn't lose a single step.

Hm. Mine syncs pretty regularly with my Charge HR if the app is open. In fact, I watch my heartrate or GPS map walk or steps in real time and the app says "connected". If the spp is closed it may have been awhile between syncs.
