Greetings to everyone. I've been using MFP for the past few weeks. I hope that by being brutally honest with myself on what I actually eat every day that I can stop my hands from putting way too much stuff in my mouth! So far so good. I just turned 69. I've been riding road bikes for 25 years, generally attempting to keep…

I live and ride on the roads of central Kansas. Many people think that Kansas is "flat as a pancake." That is largely true in the western part of the state. Definitely NOT so much where I live. This is the type of terrain in which I ride. (And don't forget the Kansas winds-which are everywhere!)

I have been riding for 25 years-I ride road bikes with my husband. We're outdoors in spring, summer and fall, ride 4-5 times weekly, rides of 20-30 miles; occasional 40 or more mile rides. I live in central Kansas and trust me, the area where I live has plenty of hills. In fact I obtained the Giant brand bike I now ride at…

My goal for 2015 is to get serious about what I eat. I know chapter and verse about most aspects of "good" nutrition. Frequently I ignore what I know! I have been physically active for many years--I ride a bicycle 20-30 miles, 4 or more times weekly in the spring, summer and fall. I am at the gym at least 5 days a week,…

I am using the Fitbit Charge HR, which I purchased a couple of weeks ago. I am not an elite athlete who needs to know to the exact beat what my heart rate is at every moment of a workout. I want a good general picture of how my heart responds when I put some stress on it and how quickly it recovers when I end a high demand…

I've had the Charge HR for about 5 days, paired with MFP I'm finding it a lot easier to truly monitor both my total caloric intake and exact amount of exercise for each day. I've been an "active exerciser" for a number of years but find it hard to keep from constant snacking. I am very pleased with the Charge and even…

I eat at least 2 raw fruits, frequently an apple and orange daily. I also eat 4-5 raw broccoli florets, a handful of baby carrots, celery sticks and cherry tomatoes almost every day. I also eat other vegetables depending on my mood and plans for supper, and eat canned light fruits as well. I also like pecans and almonds…

I am almost always at the gym 6 days a week. I do 60 minutes minimum of cardio work at a fairly good intensity. I have started (since the start of the year; you know those New Year resolutions!) to hopefully stay faithful to weight work twice weekly, using free weights, therapy bands/cords, and weight machines. I enjoy…
