This is annoying, and I just had to respond so that I could comment with 🙄. A co-worker of mine regularly comments on how good I look and has repeatedly asked how I do it. I tell her I count calories, and explain that I go to the gym/walk/bike. She then seems disappointed, and the repetitive questioning suggests she’s…

Fantastic! You will crush the next 70!

Just have less of it?

I WISH my body would forget! Lol Regarding secret meat eating: On a week-end visit to Home Depot several years ago, my husband and I came across the husband of a friend of mine who was chowing down on a Big Mac meal with a giant soda in the parking lot. He looked super guilty and asked us not to tell his wife! The wife…

This sounds delicious. The husband and I always did burgers and fries at home... until I discovered the burger alone was 750 calories. I now budget my day so that I can fit the burger in and I’ve cut out the fries. I sort of miss the fries, but it’s really the burger I love. I’ve also reduced the condiments and use less…

I’ve been using mfp since 2015, but only started using the forum recently. It‘s either that or drive my husband bonkers with all things calories... more than I already do. Welcome here, and I hope it helps!

My step-mother emphatically believed butter did not have fat. Fat to her was only the stuff that came off of an animal. I used to get so stressed about going over for dinner because her food was served with a heavy dose of guilt. Imagine a heavy set old lady with a thick Russian accent swearing up and down that the cream…

You’re doing awesome!!

Just over a year and a half ago I had the opposite problem with my weight. I lost my dad, and aunt, and a friend all within 7 months of each other - and I lost 25 pounds that I didn’t want to lose. I just couldn’t eat. And tjen I started eating too much and gained it all back plus more. I am finally around where I’d like…

You’re going to get a deluge of opinions, so pick what best works for you. If you can only get to the gym twoce a week, I’d say start a full body program because contrary to other posters, I find that just doing body weight exercises only gets me so far and is not enough for me. And I’d devote that gym time to lifting,…

Thank you all for this thread! I need to adopt the three pound window mentioned above! I started here in 2015 and lost 20 pounds. The first winter I gained it all back and relost the 20 the following spring. I’ve been slightly better, but I seem to let myself gain 8 (and then panic) and start the loss cycle again. I am…

Congratulations!!

Congratulations on your progress so far. Keep it up!

I DO agree with your correction, and your comment. OP’s schedule and deficit sounds alarming, and the HEAVY cardio he/she mentioned on top of everything else was just too much. I’ve been on an agressive fitness/work schedule - only one rest day and working lots of hours - and it was wrecking me... and I was on maintainance…

I know several people (from their 30s to their 60s) who use the game, Pokemon Go, to get moving and increase tjeir daily steps. You walk around to catch creatures and finish little quests. You’re walking, but there’s a goal besides just walking. Just a thought.

Someone mentioned it here once. Until then I had no idea either!

Hi Tina. I am in Canada, and my name is Mel. I have a chronic knee problem that’s been bothering me more than usual this winter. Since joining here in 2015, I’ve lost the same 8 or so pounds every year, and my new goal is to learn how to maintain rather than slack off every fall. Not the same goals, but plagued by knee…

Thanks. I’ve seen lots of posts (photos) about bloating that can happen over the course of a DAY and it shocks me. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with that! Bloating though, wouldn’t account for the change in the definition on his arms.

^This lol Or maybe he’s got himself some magic woo beans? Sorry. I wish it was that easy. Maybe he was just super bloaty? Bloat has never been my problem, so I’m just throwing it out there because I don’t know. 🤔 Edit to add: I’ve seen some amazing transformations where the time elapsed between photos is pretty short.…

1. Weight loss is not linear. 2. One week is not enough time to see a change, especially at the start. 3. Logging = what? Are you weighing ALL your food with a scale? Are you using reliable entries? Depending on your deficit, a logging error can mean the difference between a deficit, maintenance or even excess. Even if…

When I started at the gym (years ago) I bought magazines and a wightlifitng book, and even now, years later, I watch videos when I want to try a new exercise. All of us are learning, just at different levels. My gym gives tours to newbies to introduce you all the machines... there are a lot and they can be overwhelming.…

You need to eat more, and change to a more modest goal per week. What you’re doing is not sustainable and you can’t perform well in the gym because your deficit is too big. Plus, I’d cut the day of agressive cardio, if you’re looking to gain muscle, cardio won’t help.

If you look under “add exercise” in the cardio section, there is a general “strength training” category. Since it is under cardio, it gives you calories based on the number of minutes you enter. It’s general - So depending on how detailed you want, this might or might not be what you want. I under report my weight sessions…

My weight was 169.8 this morning! New mini goal? For my weight to be in the 160s every day for a week. I want to be assuredly out of the 170s. Also working on back bends and working toward doing a bridge.
-
I was in a similar boat where the scale stood still for THREE WEEKS! It started as three days where I intentionally ate at maintenance, but then the scale stayed just about the same until yesterday. And today. Three weeks with no loss, 1.6 pounds down over two days! My goal is .5 per week. 🙂 So glad you got your progress!

Am I going to get woos for this? This week I started to see a vein running along my left shoulder to my bicep when I flex. The vein isn’t popping, but now I see it in the mirror!

Ab wheel: it’s a little wheel with handles on it, for exercising abs- using an ab wheel is more advanced than planking. AMRAP = as many reps as possible “Whatever” inThe tank - not doing all the reps you can in a set? Like previous posters said, you probably need to do a more serious weight routine (programs like Jillian…

Every single day you have a choice. And on bad days, sometimes every minute is a choice. What is important to you? Why do you want to lose more weight? What is your goal? We all struggle with different things, but we all struggle. You have to decide, work at it, and make it a habit. I have been under so much stress lately…

Congrats and good luck. It totally feels good to know clothes will fit. Not sure where the fear part comes in... hugs to you.
