  • I agree with Jayden...don't sit around and think about it, just do it! The longer you contemplate, the less likely you are to go. I also run the mantra through my head...I never regret it when I go, I often regret it when I don't!
  • Welcome to MFP! How was week 1?
  • I think many of us binge a little here and there. What you are saying, both your dieting and your binging goes beyond healthy. Clearly your body was telling you that what you were doing was not good! If possible for you, you might want to talk to your doctor or a therapist to help you normalize your relationship with food.…
  • You will definitely see a loss...weight loss happens in the kitchen! BUT how will you know unless you stand on a scale? Get a good starting weight, I would hate for you to be off (such as higher than you think) and not really know how successful you are being. I've lost a lot of weight without working out at all....AND…

  • Hello from the Left Corner and the great state of Washington...no marathons in my future, maybe a bit of mountain biking this summer!

  • I find when hiking with just a daypack I earn so many calories...I think you can eat what you want but should make sure you have food that is good fuel! Proteins, complex carbs, etc. Can't wait to hear how it goes! Enjoy!
  • I've been on tons of diets over the years...I know that I am the problem. I like food...creamy, saucy, sweet...all of the bad ones! BUT...I also like healthy food (creamy, saucy, sweet healthy foods too) and just forget when I"m off the wagon. Currently I have been happily back on track since 1/1 and have lost 5 lbs. It…
  • I switched to unsweetened almond milk to save some calories...I pretty much just use it in coffee and it works fine! 30 calories vs. 110, so worth it!
  • we are cooking Mahi and broccoli....if I have the calories, I'll put cheese on my broccoli! But lunch is much more interesting....my favorite chicken salad (4 oz of chicken breast, 4 oz of diced apple, tons of diced celery and light mayo). I forgot how much I love it!
  • Hi! Welcome back to MFP....my current streak started 1/1 (classic right?). I feel good and serious. I'm currently at 184 (all time high was 224, adult low was 170) and working to get in the 160's. I come and go from MFP as it works for me and the price is right! When I'm here, tracking and weighing regularly, all is good!
  • Probably neither....I would go with the lower estimate. The general rule of thumb is that we greatly overestimate the calories we burn and underestimate the calories we consume. I eat back very few (or none) of my exercise calories. If I feel like I need them which sometimes I do after a huge hike or something then I won't…
  • I was successful counting calories then got lazy. As weight crept back on, I tried other approaches (low carb, no counting).... no Bueno, no success for me! Now I'm back and it is working again. Duh...if it works, why try something else?
  • We just do a "mat pilates" class...is that classical? Occasionaly we add balls to the class, either small ones or big ones.

  • I've been doing pilates for years now, love, love, love it! BUT I remember those early days and how much they hurt. some things still aren't easy for me...like why haven't I gained any strength in my neck? Holding up your head, neck and shoulders through most of a class is still as hard as ever! Your instructor should give…

  • Glad they aren't hard selling any of this crap at my gym! CICO clearly works and partnered with spending time at the gym and working out it works even better!
  • Good for you! That will hurt for sure...I had liposuction in a few places with mine which hurt waaaaaaaaay more than I thought it would! fortunately I had a pain pump. You will enjoy the flat tummy! I do! But for me, it had to be a one and done. I can see why plastic surgery is a slippery slope...I have a long wish list…
  • one of the easiest ways to hide veggies is to grate them so they visibly disappear when cooked. I used to grate carrots and onions and mushrooms into spaghetti sauce when my kids were little. Grated zucchini or summer squash works well too. Does he like things like banana bread? That's easy to make healthier...substitute…
  • I had one....I will happily admit it. I had it at 50, I only wish I had done it sooner! I still have struggles with my weight but it has redistributed and my high weight now is much less than before I got it done. The recovery is tough but I feel like it is totally worth it! If you live alone, you will need someone with…
  • The best time to exercise is whenever you will actually do it! I work out in the evenings as well...it works well with my schedule and like you, it's a social outlet for me. You are off to a great start!
  • I have won 2 different chili cook offs (the only 2 I entered) and did it by googling "award winning chili recipes". :-) I tweaked the recipes a little to make them mine but it worked! I think they both had beer and of course tons of veggies! Chili is easy to lighten up...double the veggies, swap in ground turkey or chicken…
  • Don't be stuck on "breakfast foods"....Have some chicken or turkey if you feel like you want more protein!

  • Nice job! I second the rowing machine suggestions...such a great workout and something different from the elliptical!
  • What about on the weekends doing something active with your fiancé? Go for a walk, a hike, or something like that? Start now with healthy habits as a couple and it will set you up for a good future. 25 years later, my husband and I thing we love to do the most together (that can be mentioned here) is head to the gym in the…
  • Where's the third category for yoga/pilates/Barre etc? for a well rounded fitness plan it should be in there somewhere! Strength: Love it, don't do enough....I'm getting older and need to keep it up Cardio: Love it, need to do more...love my summer hikes and more cardio will build more endurance! Pilates: Love it, do…
  • Welcome to MFP! Did you eat 1800 healthy calories? Drink enough water? Track everything? You seem to have it under control....just checking in since you want some accountability! congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Looking forward to following your journey on MFP
  • What a great start! You have an exciting achievement ahead of you (getting under 300), Congratulations on your success so far!
  • I use it in my morning coffee...yum! Unsweetened vanilla as well...currently I am drinking a combination of almond and coconut. I'm going to make cream of broccolli soup this week and am planning on using it instead of half and half...will let you know how it turns out!
  • I do 1200 a day and have lost 4.5 since January 1...that's pretty quick for me as I am usually a slow loser! I'm primarily eating lean proteins, vegetables and fruits and have been enjoying it! Feels good to be in control of what I am eating after the crazy holidays!
  • it could be many things, your food logging might not be as accurate as you think (and you are not in a deficit), if you didn't make the best food choices, you could be getting excess sodium causing you to retain fluids. It also could be from lifting (not my area of expertise). You are doing the right things...If you want…
  • In the past I've read that you take your weight divide in half and that's the number of ounces you should drink a day...this made sense to me as it adjusted based individual size.
