Haven't posted forever, but had a good bench day this morning. https://youtu.be/QH614bb5ZZI 290/131.5x6,5,4. First set was a rep PR. Trying to accumulate as many reps in the 260-315 range as I can in the next few months to build for a new 1RM.

Oh my off (deload) weeks I pick active rest programming that is far different from powerlifting. If I don't do Crossfit, I'll mobilize and walk, or I'll do Yoga. Since you're sore, you might want to do yoga, some easy walking, or mobilize a few times a week.

Awesome. I think you just invented the next home workout craze. You said you're agrophobic? Well that's not going to bother you much anymore after you can afford that private island you've always wanted. (PST... buy me one too.)

I missed that. Tonya is a Cat II IPF ref, Not much she misses.

Depending on the size of the meet and where it sits in the cue awaiting National office verification, it can take up to a month. http://usapl.liftingdatabase.com/rankings As far as ref results, takes anywhere from a month to six weeks. When I did the USAPL Certificate, I knew as soon as I hit return on the test button. I…

Nice job @Chieflrg - I've only gone 9/9 once and have never set a record. Also, I was at this meet completing my state ref test. You see the lady in the background right? Thats the state chair, Tonya Lambeth and her son Mac in the foreground who is on the national team. That green folder in her hands is the written portion…

Some bench work today.... https://youtu.be/Z7Qdz1yHUsE I went for 350/160 single and just didn't have it. Otherwise, not a bad day.

It was nice meeting you Patrick and having a few moments when we could to chat.

Indeed they are which is why I placed the YouTube video in. A real dick move MFP

Deadlifts from yesterday https://youtu.be/yamxxzjorMo 425/193x9 rep goal +1. 470/213x3, 495 and a single 515

Nice to read that your patience is showing some results. These lifts take time to develop. Some cues work and others don't.

Some *hot* bench action from this morning. https://instagram.com/p/BTUTtyRj6yB/ 270x8, 300x3, 315x2, 330/150kg single.

Since you are free-weight neophyte, any new stimulus will have a positive effect. Insofar as sets vs. circuits, the only recommendation I'd make is that you progressively load your lifts.
-
Yes, it ups the price. If it's a small meet, then I just compete in the open because with such few lifters there's no point in competing against one or two others in Masters. If it's a large meet (like 100 or more) then I compete in both the Open and Masters.

You can't confuse your body. A body adapts to stress. I would hazard a guess that the reason you gained 30 pounds back is because you cut to hard and too much. If this is the case, why repeat the same mistake? As for DOMS after leg day, walk, or train your legs more and follow a structured weight training program like…

I'm hoping to hit a 350 bench in two weeks. I never thought I'd be this close to four plates. Good luck!

Inzer Lever here, but I really want to purchase the SBD belt, which is beautifully tooled, a lever, and doesn't require a screwdriver to adjust. I only wear a belt for squat, I've found no advantage to its use in bench or deadlift. I might have if I was a geared lifter.

I agree with the others. Elbows and chest up, shoes off. Only other recommendation I have is to keep your head neutral and look forward instead of looking up.

Arg, been meaning to get back to this thread, but since I last posted life became immensely busy with starting a new job, looking for a new house, time with my family, and studying up. But I wanted to say thanks first to @JoRocka @Chieflrg @jessef593 for the words of encouragement. Jo, haven't had a chance yet to watch the…

Okay, but 'm still old(ish) lol. So what did you do? Was it mobility? Isn't it? But I guess that's why we keep coming back to it, working harder at it than before. Speaking of cueing, I spent some time watching Rip's Starting Strength tutorials on the Squat last night around 10pm. (Heck if Alan Thrall can retool his squat…

Yeah I've struggled with it myself, but mildly.

Synthol might be the worst thing since, well, since anything. I never had really any desire to use steroids when I started my training career 28 years ago. I was still getting laid. lol
-
I get "accused" of steroid use occasionally. I LFMAO because they should hang out a hardcore gym and compare me next to the guys who do. The gulf between me and the accuser is larger than between me and an enhanced bodybuilder. Besides, I compete in a tested federation. Hey look at it this way, at least you are not being…

I say go for it! I'm a powerlifter, but every deload week I drop in at my local box because I need the metcons, and I have a few pals there.
-
Yeah, I think I'm going to finish out just half of this program (end of next week) and then build in more sub-max squat work up to 85%. My upper strength will mostly be there after I hone my mechanics. Box squats and even tempo work will be in there too.
-
That was something I used to do quite religiously after taking a seminar last year prior to my first USAPL meet. I don't know why I got away from it. I'm so broken.
-
We will always "figuring [the] stuffs" out. Yeah, I am going to try it out.
-
I'll split you a box of candle sticks and matches?

Thank you Chris. They look good to me, but.... It does feel like I rush them. Glad you noticed too. I try to pull the bar down into my back, but its a cue I am not to practiced yet at. Also, my shoulders make it difficult to do this. Maybe I should go wider with my grip? But the times I do that, the bar becomes even more…

Since I trust the regulars that post here, tell me how much these suck. https://www.instagram.com/p/BSgour6jzSi/ What do you think? It is so frustrating that coming back from injury, every single time I squat, they just feel like I have never done the movement before. Before injury they were strong and they moved well,…
