I was really excited to get in the gym this morning after a big breakfast today and a great day of eating yesterday. https://instagram.com/p/BSd-jIKDpep/ 290x3, 305x3, 320x2 rep PR. Wow, did I just rep three plus plates? And to answer @LolBroScience question, yes. I usually have one lift in the doghouse, sometimes two.…

Although the aforementioned exercises are great all body developers, the one thing they don't really affect is the calves -- for that you need to perform isolation exercises like they were biceps. There's a number of ideas how best to train the calves, i.e., light weight // many reps is usually the prevailing wisdom…

For weight lifting (aka Olympic Weightlifting) or just lifting weights in general?
-
Those are good numbers, but can you do them with commands. That's the question and that's why you test them out on the platform. Good luck.

Yep, I've been fit shamed. An old buddy of mine from the punk scene made comments about my pecs that "oh look how round and firm they are blah blah blah" or something to that effect. I pulled out the banhammer on him immediately. I will suffer not a troll among myself. Also -- and I'm not making this up -- because my…

Run Wendler's "Building the Monolith" if you want size and strength. https://jimwendler.com/blogs/jimwendler-com/101078918-building-the-monolith-5-3-1-for-size

Sugarwod populates that day's workout via your boxes RSS. It is a subscription based platform that your box will need to subscribe too. I imagine Wodify is likewise? Benefit? Other than the social interaction (fist bumps and commenting from friends) you won't have to write down your work by hand and will always have it on…

Concerned content troll has to tell everyone he doesn't care what you lift. How did we know that? Because he *just* had tell us. ** triple eye roll ** (413lb [187kg] on the platform)

I probably should clarify my post.... Sugarwod (not sure about Wodify) won't give you a calorie burn, but it will help you keep track of the work you do in the gym. As far as calorie burn, TDEE is a practical necessitity since your calorie burns won't that be great unless you do a rowing workout with set calorie goals per…

Does your box use the app Sugar Wod? If so, you'll be able to record sets/reps and record PRS for the lifts and times of the workouts and share/comment with friends. https://www.sugarwod.com

One cool customer!

Last year around this time, I crushed the cartilage in my chest here. (I grab my chest in pain at the end.) https://instagram.com/p/BC57NXBJ8Bz/ Which ruled out bench press so I made overhead pressing my primary movement. A few months later I pulled my QL and internal oblique (after a minor hamstring pull deadlifting)…

Finally have something of training interest to report. Began a new program today with 5/3/1 at the center of it. I've returned back to 5/3/1 as 531 and I am not doing the powerlifting version 351 so I can more work in with joker sets between 90-110% https://instagram.com/p/BSLh2wJDfc0/ 250x13, rep goal +1 top work set.…

I'm of the coffee crowd as pwo too. So, coffee.

That's great to hear! Carry on!
-
One caveat, calorie expenditures via strength training are not that great. It's just easier to roll whatever anaerobic exercise into your TDEE.

My neighbors moaning. Stupid thin walls.

In addition to what @quiksylver296 stated about commands (and practicing them), I'd recommend reading your federations rule book and become familiar with the flight system, know what gear is approved, and bring plenty of food and water to get you through the day. Watch a full meet on YouTube too. IPF will post long…

Great!

I don't begrudge anyone for taking a PWO, but I tend think they work more by placebo than anything else. Foam rolling is more likely placebo, but I find it helps me to warmup and get into my workout.

Regarding systems, look up Tabatas, and cut down on all that time rowing. Tabata's are an efficient and effective way to maximize cardio-calories burns. Also, if you have Spotify they have Tabata playlists you can do your workout too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGD0CTE1Ylk

I agree with the others, but for me, I cut at my very first meet because I wanted the experience (and I wanted to improve my co-efficent.) Now I didn't have any expectations of breaking world records (since it was non-federated at that first meet) but I wanted to pre-flight the experience for later meets down the road.…

Of course I people watch, usually I am more interested in how they are performing a particular movement than the yoga pants they are wearing. Okay, I lied... I find that interesting too.

425x9 deadlift top set rep goal ✅ After a sleepy warm-up these moved pretty good. Last two reps were a grind and I had at least one more rep in me, but I always play it safe and don't. https://instagram.com/p/BRx7bwnjZxy/

It's open book, but I am still nervous. When I started this thread no idea it go 64 pages, which demonstrates just how under served actual lifters are on MFP.

I have my USAPL State Referee test this Sunday! I'm actually nervous, because I get performance anxiety, which I know sounds odd from a guy who wears tight spandex that gives a good view ones package making the faces I make up on the platform odd, but there it is.
