  • Above post has a very good point: negative adjustment isn't the same as counting an exercise twice When that happens to me, I either go in & delete the exercise, or edit it to low calories. Example: I go for a long run. I have 18k in steps & earn calories for steps. FitBit also logs exercise (running) calories and gives me…
  • My stats are nearly identical to you... 5'3-5'4" (depending on my shoes!), 35 and started last summer at 180#. I'm down to 144# currently and still trying to lose. I ranged from 1400-1800 calories; somedays were lower, some were higher. I increase my calories every month during TOM; also on vacations I eat even more, up to…
  • Same for me. Not as much gain as others, only 1-3lbs...but yeah, any extra sodium and I'm likely to gain 5-7lbs. Also slight gai, like a pound or two at ovulation
  • I'd be ecstatic to lose 1 pound per week! That's good progress, really it is. You need to be more patient and adjust your expectations. You could possibly be losing a bit more, like 1.5/week as mentioned above; make sure you're weighing your foods & logging accurately. Congrats on the weight loss so far! Good luck.
  • Definitely also the "EAT MORE" and having a full plate. Being Hispanic, there was always food available. Visiting at a relatives home, youd be expected to eat, whether it was a freshly made buttered tortilla, quesadilla or tamales; if you were offered it, you should eat it. Also, Ma always cooked a "full" meal, meaning…
  • Technically, no....I was more questioning on whether there was an actual "best" to stretch. I stretch several times a day, but was curious if I was doing my self a disservice by waiting so long after exercising to stretch.
  • I do stretche in the shower, like forward fold standing, or even in the tub! The cramps are definitely not directly related to the heat; I hydrate well. The cramps are specially in my right calf and somewhat in my right hamstring; this was the side I had sciatic pain. These cramps have only come on since taking prednisone…
  • Thanks everyone for your responses and help! All your insights are very helpful...I'll try to do a little better about stretching immediately following a work out and see if it helps. And continue with other stretching routines in morning and evenings as well.
  • I took a high dosage for roughly 10 days in early June, due to my first sciatica pain -- it was crazy intense and hurt so bad!! The prednisone definitely made me puffy, swollen, cramped up my muscles badly, etc... And took me nearly 2 weeks to really shed the 5 pounds I gained. But it did come off and within a week the…
  • I agree. Eat what you love. Just keep the portions within your allotted calories and you should be good. And measure/weigh and log everything, too! Even eating healthy, you can gain weight; it depends more on how much you want, not so much on what you eat. So eat your fruits, seafood and vegetables and enjoy. Good luck.
  • Yes, THIS. I guess it actually also depends what type of FitBit you have? You CAN track an actual specific activity, such as running, walking, biking, etc, on your Fitbit. For my ChargeHR: As you start your workout, press the button on the side; it will signal a "start" to your activity by showing a small timer and buzz.…
  • The above suggestion is great. Definitely speak with a Dr; you shouldn't have to be in constant or recurring pain! Also, more stretching exercises for the pain. Perhaps trying more yoga-type exercise and simple body weight exercises may help. Low impact exercises, swimming as well.

  • ...food is a luxury when backpacking?! There are so many scrumptious foods, you don't have to eat freeze dried everything! Take the raspberries & the orange...no trash left over! Even the veggie burgers, easy to heat & pack. Smaller, less bulky And less weight on the way hiking out. OP- I also backpacked the Canyon but in…

  • You are with 10-13lbs of your target goal weight? ....yes, that is comparably "less to lose." You are pretty close to your goal, 10 pounds is very close. And the last bit is difficult to lose. I agree with switching to only .5/week; with only 10-13 to lose, that would be ideal. Too much more or quicker & you'll lose…
  • I agree with this. Go see your GYN. It's important and **just in case** it's something serious; we cannot possibly diagnose or tell you why. I have endometriosis, where my body does not correctly shed period blood at times; instead it stays "inside" and creates endometroma (blood cysts). My period would be MIA or very…
  • All good advice here!! Another thought: where are you in your cycle? The days before my period (PMS days), I am ravenous. I always increase my calories by 100-400 calories to help. it's pretty common to be very hungry at different points in your cycle, depending on your physiology. As others stated though: eat more…
  • We cannot be absolutely sure to state "yes, it's the main/only cause to your light headedness, pain, etc".... However, undereating, over exerting and over exercising, yes it can very hard on the body & lead to what you're describing. You've received good advice here already: EAT more. REST days. Take a break from this…
  • We are our own worst critic... There is quite a difference in your physique; you've definitely lost some inches. Perhaps start taking measurements before your next round to help you notice the changes. I think you did an awesome job so far, keep it up! ...oh, and NO, do not drop your calories to 1300-1400. That just…
