How long did you try low carb and how low was your count? I am a complete and total sugar addict. I can't eat a donut. I eat an entire dozen and then go buy more! I now eat around 40g of carbs a day and I don't crave sugar. For me, I can't limit sugar. I have to take it out of the equation completely. It does, however,…

I had issues with severe heart palpitations when I first switched to Armour from levothyroxine. My doctor did a 24 hour cortisol test and found that my adrenals were fatigued due to my hypothyroid condition not being addressed adequately. I had to go off the Armour and treat the adrenals before going back on the Armour.…

Does your doctor do a full thyroid panel or just TSH? I was on levothyroxine and my TSH levels were completely normal, but I was still having severe hypo symptoms. After researching extensively, I found that most patients seem to do much better on natural thyroid. I asked my doctor about switching, but she refused to…

Mine is open. I would also like some friends with open diaries. I think most of us tend to eat the same things over and over. It might help all of us to add more variety by getting ideas from other's diaries. Feel free to friend request me.

That has worked for me, too. I won't do that with anything sugary because I wouldn't be able to stop, but I found that I can have one french fry off my hubby's plate and it satisfies me. Plus, then I don't feel deprived! The biggest thing for me is not looking at this as a temporary diet that I have to get through. This…

I love olives!

I love that! When my taste changes and everything tastes so much sweeter, I find that I enjoy my food so much more. It almost feels like my taste buds have been so overwhelmed by the processed foods that they shut down and are now starting back up. Raw almonds were the biggest surprise for me. I didn't know they were sweet!

I personally think it's better to snack throughout the day and maybe go over your calories than not eat enough. Especially if it's not your regular routine.

We all have our moments. I know I definitely do...just ask my hubby! I'm glad we sorted things out!

Thank you. Of course! We're all in this struggle together. I should have just clarified my intended message in the first place instead of reacting with sarcasm. Your comment caught me off guard and I reacted instead of thinking about the fact that the written word has a huge potential for misunderstanding . For that, I…

I've lived low carb for most of the last decade. I fell off the wagon in the middle of October last year after being strictly low carb for 9 1/2 months. I ate a sugary treat and proceeded to go on a 2 1/2 month binge and gained back 30lbs (of the 45 I had just lost)! I have never had as much trouble getting back on track…

I was not in any way trying to minimize your experience, but that's exactly what you did to me by attacking my comment. I have no idea what heroin withdrawal feels like. I only know that my physical symptoms were similar in definition, not necessarily intensity to those I've seen others describe with heroin withdrawal.…

That's a very good point!

I have lived a low carb lifestyle for most of the last decade. I know the symptoms don't last once you get your blood sugar regulated. The fact that the PHYSICAL symptoms are due to blood sugar dropping because sugar intake has stopped is the very definition of physical dependence (aka addiction).

When I order Chinese I usually order broccoli beef. I know there are hidden carbs, but I don't worry too much as long as I don't do it regularly. Another option is making it at home. I have a recipe that I tweaked to be VERY low carb. I will post it below. I like that I can adjust the spiciness since I prefer my broccoli…

Good to know. I wasn't aware that headaches, body aches, sweating and trembling were just sneaky psychological symptoms. Thanks for validating my personal experience.

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat and is more compact. Your measurements are a much better gauge of your success than the number on the scale. I know it's easier said than done because I also struggle with the number on the scale, but don't let it get you down. Your hard work is showing in your measurements and…

Sugar addiction is real for me and it's definitely my drug of choice! I've never done drugs and rarely drink alcohol, but sugar sends me into a downward spiral that I can only assume is comparable to what drug or alcohol addicts go through. I had not had any significant sugar last year from January 10 until the middle of…

Not new to MFP, but new to the group. My name is Laura. I'm a 44 yr old mother of 2 and grandmother of 2. I've struggled with my weight my entire adult life. I've lost 24 lbs and would like to lose 43 more. More importantly, I would like to keep it off! I love that we have a place where we can connect with others who share…

I use a professional shampoo for thinning hair (Nioxin is the brand). It definitely doesn't solve the problem, but I think it helps. Hair loss is the #1worst hypothyroid symptom for me! And that's saying a lot since they all pretty much suck!

I love this thread! It's awesome and very encouraging to see everyone sharing. Whether it's celebrating success or sharing trials, it's nice to know I'm not alone!

1/14/16 On day 4 of low carb. It's getting easier. The first week or two is rough. I'm getting too old for this! My health requires that this be a lifetime commitment this time. My goal is to lose 63.8 lbs and keep it off. I'm not really concerned with how long it takes me, but it's always nice to see the results on the…

I lost 60lbs on a low carb diet and kept it off for 3 years. It's definitely possible. The biggest thing for me was reminding myself how much better I feel when I eat low carb. The instant gratification of eating carbs just isn't worth it for me because I know it will make me feel physically ill later. Unfortunately, I…
