  • I didn't make it to the gym yesterday like planned. S/O was visiting and we went for a fast paced walk in the afternoon, about 3 miles. I might never do SL on Wednesdays anymore with this soccer league I mentioned earlier (first game last night)... this morning it feels like someone used my hip flexors as punching bags. I…
  • I turned my conference trip to San Diego into an extended break, heh. Flying back Monday night. I will try to fight the jetlag on Wednesday and lift - I will do major deloads on all. I also start my soccer league that night so I might adjust Stronglifts for less volume considering that plus my new friend, bursitis. Glad to…
  • I know there are so many treatments that work for different people, and I do not experience this trigger personally... But, I agree with checking out the blood pressure avenue because for me personally, going on a beta blocker and finding the right (low) dose has saved me. Migraine free for over a month for the first time…
  • I almost bought enlighted the other day but the calories aren't as low, right? At least the brownie something flavor I picked up. I'm so lucky to live in NY we get everything in our stores lol
  • Glad I'm not the only one who does this! I think I do it because I'm often pre-logging and I'm too lazy to go back to adjust my entry so I'd rather just adjust the food. I find it kinda fun trying to get exactly 227g of yogurt. I admit I don't use my scale for absolutely everything, though. For example today I had a Lean…
  • I wish I could have seen the meeting where they pitched the name of the company.
  • I don't belong in maintenance threads but yet here I am :p mine will be 5 pounds either way. I always weigh myself unclothed, first thing in the morning, which allows for a low weight. But whenever I get weighed at the doctor or anywhere else there's food in my stomach and clothes on. Usually up 5 pounds from that, and…
  • Green tea helps me. Though I read somewhere that it has never been scientifically proven to ease constipation so maybe it's just a coincidence. I saw someone mention Quest bars. Those are actually what ruin me. 15g of fiber in one sitting is just too much for me, even though I drink a lot of water with them. Getting fiber…
  • I just wanted to say I'm basically in the same boat! So I get it, and I can vent a little... My boyfriend is the same height as me. He's 20 pounds lighter than me right now. But obviously as a male he can eat a bit more. He also works on his feet all day while I sit at a desk. Finally, he is super fidgety and anxious, and…
  • Today's little home workout, still not Stronglifts ready: 3x14 modified pushups (increasing volume every time to work myself up to real pushups) 2x10 donkey kicks 2x10 crunches 3x5 sumo deadlifts with 40lb kettlebell
  • Oh man I totally agree about this! I'm also a grad student. I'm teaching a summer course this year, though, so that might help me stay in somewhat of a routine. I spend most of my breaks sitting in my parents' house just resting my brain and visiting family and friends, which means stopping by old favorite restaurants, m…
  • I don't have any cardio in my week right now, because I also hate it. I've been doing some lifting which I enjoy a lot. But in a couple of weeks I'm joining a soccer league. I'm really excited because it won't even feel like cardio, just fun. Back when I played soccer and other sports in high school I hated practices…

  • What you're doing seems just about right! Lots of people here, myself included, eat about half of the exercise calories given, since MFP tends to overestimate burns. Keep it up!
  • That might be a goal of mine, too, in 2018. I'm just starting to think about it. But I don't know a lot about competing and I'm not sure if I could afford a coach. I gotta do some research!
  • I actually don't log my weight lifting. It's hard to really know with any accuracy, and I only do 3 workouts a week. Since I started going to the gym to lift (Stronglifts) I haven't had a faster rate of weight loss so it looks like I'm not burning much anyway. But if I were to log it, what @Machka9 does make sense to me.
  • So, the free body fat test was a skin caliper test method. Any insight about that? I came out to 21.9% which seems about right based on example photos I have examined in the past. I will go back in a few weeks to test again. While at the fitness center I did 3x6 dumbell bench press @ 40 and 2x5 fixed barbell OHP @ 30 then…
  • @lkpducky I'm not even sure if it's either of those good ones- I wouldn't be surprised if they were just doing measurements lol. I really hope it's a real test. I'll let everyone know!
  • Keep it up, everyone! Happy spring :) I'm back at school (aka where my gym and doctors are) after spring break spent resting with family. My plan is to do bench and OHP in the gym Wednesday. They are also doing free body fat testing Wed and I'm curious so I will go. Second chiro appointment is Friday, hopefully they give…
  • If your grocery store sells Bob's Red Mill brands check their section for plain protein powder!
  • Exactly. For the most part, I think MFP uses this as a motivational tool.
  • I'm here to learn and may be wrong - but it's probably worth noting, she said it takes longer for her to recover in part because of inflammatory bowel disease. With that going on, the amount and intensity of exercise seem to moderate her recovery time, beyond her full control.
  • October 2016 - 20 lbs overweight according to BMI scale - Blood pressure 140/90 (taken 4 times in 2 days by my doctor, not a fluke) March 2017 - top end of BMI healthy weight & exercising 3x week - Blood pressure 112/78
  • Very inspiring! I can't do real pushups yet but I'm working on them by doing them with my knees down for now. Great job!

  • It doesn't matter where you put them. Just make sure the amount is accurate!
  • Guys, I have DOMS in my chest from my modified pushups! Lol I think I'll be going back to the bar for bench next time!
  • I wonder this too... It's the main reason I want to recomp. But even when my weight was pretty low (high school) and I was an athlete, I still had a little gut. My friends didn't, though. Who knows if its even reasonably possible for me to get rid of it.
  • Yes, keep pushing on, but it's true that you need to be very precise to lose weight since you're not really overweight. I'm in the same boat. You just need to be very accurate with your logging. Since you don't eat out very often, don't worry too much about stuff like the wrap you ate not being accurate. If you're really…
  • Still no gym for me but I want to keep posting to make sure I don't just give up lol. I've been doing foam rolling and stretching every day for 1 week. 2 weeks since injury. Been doing more resting than anything else because walking is still iffy. Went to the mall yesterday and it wiped me out. Today I did some random…
