I'm a grad student at Stony Brook University which is 40 miles east of New York City out on Long Island. I use the university gym and it's always so crowded!

I'll add you! My diary has a lot of junk food in it but I've scaled that back a lot and I'm eating at a 20% cut from maintenance calories! Trying to obtain calorie info from your school's dining services. It can make a huge difference in what you end up eating, and you might be surprised with what fits.

Lol! I can't say the same but nausea is no fun! I hope you feel better. Resting for a few days really helped me, luckily. Bugs are definitely going around, stay vigilant, friends!

Love this thread! I'm 5'7 and in the middle of my weight loss. I'm 24 years old. Started at 180, currently 165. I don't know my goal weight. I've been saying 150 because it seems realistic, but I'm not sure if I'd look much different. On the other hand I'm afraid that if I aimed for 140 or 130 I wouldn't be able to…

Thanks!!

I came down with a cold on Sunday. Monday's workout was fine, but the cold seems to be peaking in severity tonight. Looks like I'll be skipping my workout. :( For the first time ever I really don't want to! But I know it's best for me (and for others, no need to spread germs). I have a big presentation at school on Friday…

Thank you! I can really picture it now, sitting down compared to back. If it's true about my femurs, this shouldn't be a problem! :p I think I was focusing so hard on depth and not much else. I have lots to learn going forward with stronglifts and I appreciate everyone's help on this!

For what it's worth, you can set up a custom calorie goal! I didn't like any of the ones MFP spit out so I made my own after researching a good estimate for my TDEE. I track my own stats and I've been losing 1.25 lb per week, eating 1650 cals, which I'm very happy with.

Thank you very much! I will definitely take this advice for the future.

I can't thank you enough for all this help! I really appreciate it! I agree about the leaning, it looks like I'm letting the bar crush me but it didn't actually feel like that. So I will try to keep my heels planted better for sure, and no mirror! I googled a little about the long torso/short femur thing. What an…

I go to my university gym, which is a new thing for me. I'm still working out what time is best to go. The gym is free for undergrads so the weight room is always SO crowded with guys. It smells bad lol but they have 4 squat racks (maybe getting a 5th) and it's convenient! I'm a graduate student/instructor so I'm always…

Hi everyone. Today a girl asked to use the rack after me. Since she seemed nice I asked her to film my final squat set today for a form check. I would really appreciate any feedback, and if you can't tell by the weight on the bar I'm really new and a little unsure. Thank you ☺️ https://youtu.be/sB1LaBBj-gI

Twins! Same height and weight. Not far off in age, I'm 24!

Wow, I am just so inspired. Your drive and ambition is next level. I'm speechless!! Can I add you as a friend?
-
Hahahaha! I like this idea! They changed the forecast for me, though; we're not getting much tomorrow. I actually like snow for snowshoeing, and days off school :)
-
Wooo!!

Thanks! I went with a fixed weight 40lb bar and it was much easier. If there is a bench available next time you bet I'll go for the Olympic bar!
-
I'm in the middle of it and I would endorse it. I'm a psychologist myself and familiar with Dr. Beck's work. A lot of the chapters have already helped me re-think things. Enjoy!
-
Thanks! I'm sure my form was off because I'm still so new. When I took a deep breath and readjusted myself I ended up getting the sets in. But yes, my left side felt the struggle so much more than the right.
-
Thank you! For bench, each dumbell was 17.5lb the day I struggled. I've been increasing by 5lb total each time I complete the 5x5. Should I try just jumping to the 45lb bar for a couple workouts l to avoid to dumbells? I will definitely check out the threads re: protein!

I take a prescription medication twice daily and the childproofing cap was always really hard for me to open. In the past couple weeks since I started lifting, opening it has been noticeably super easy! I think this is so crazy lol

I shovel! When raining, bodyweight exercises.

Usually I'm a lurker but I feel obligated to tell you my jaw dropped!

Lucky! I love snow and In NY we've had very little snow this year. I guess you'd probably trade yours for halo top, though!

I see you've already had lots of replies, but as a migraine sufferer I just wanted to comment and say I am so, so sorry you are experiencing this pain. My longest migraine was 10 days and I just want to cry thinking about it. Because headaches and migraines can be triggered by things in your sensory environment, people are…

Thanks all! Based on this, I will next buy chocolate peanut butter, mint chip, birthday cake, and I guess oatmeal cookie! I have allergies to certain nuts and recently tried the new oatmeal cookie flavored Quest bar and it sent me to the hospital so I'm really traumatized by oatmeal cookie stuff at the moment lol
-
Thanks! I've been seeing all the flavors at a local health food store down the street from me, so I view it as convenience at a cost. They have a sale flier I should subscribe to asap now that I discovered I can eat a pint in one sitting no problem lol! Looks like there are no Krogers in the northeast :(
-
Thanks! I'd probably like peanut butter cup.
-
Ah thanks! Well I didn't hate it, but I guess since I'm not a huge fan of vanilla ice cream I should have expected not to like the cookie dough as much. The little cookie dough bits and chocolate chips are delicious but small.

January was the month I started SL and I've been making a bit of progress! Everything 5x5, adding 5lb, except DL 1x5 and adding 10 at a time. I started very low: Squat went from 15 to 40 OHP 15 to 25 Bench 15 to 30 Row 15 to 25 DL 15 to 35 Havent failed a rep yet, but I anticipate OHP will be the one that gives me problems…
