  • There have been some studies indicating that African American women expend fewer calories than Caucasian women, which would translate into it being harder to lose weight and needing to put in more activity in order to lose the same amount of weight. See, for example:…
  • sorry, that should read "thyroid"
  • Have you had a thryoid function test?
  • You should be direct with him and say something like, "I thought you were going to be tracking your calorie intake with MyFitnessPal along with me. Are you giving up?" For some people, tracking food makes them think of food more, not less, so maybe he's struggling with that. On the other hand, sometimes people sabotage…
  • I think I'd become obsessed if I weighed myself every day, but I must admit I haven't tried it. I've done weight watchers, and with that you weigh once a week. Also, I have such major fluctuations at certain times of the month that I think I would be majorly depressed if I weighed myself daily, like if I was bloating, I'd…
  • Similar deal at my workplace, usually sweets, doughnuts, cookies, candy, etc. In other words, the most dangerous stuff, if you're weak to it. • Feel free to add me. I need to lose a lot, and I guess I can be an emotional eater, eating as a result of various emotions, from boredom to anxiety. I'd like to explore this issue more, and hear tips from folks about dealing with emotional eating issues. Ciao!
  • I live near a Trader Joe's and a Mom's Organic Market, and they have nice things to bring for lunch, as I don't have time to cook. Today I had Amy's tofu and vegetable lasagna, which is much better than it may sound. No meat or cheese, but still good and satisfying. I usually also have either white or green tea with lunch.
  • If you reduce your caloric intake too much, you can mess with your metabolism and send your body into starvation mode, where it thinks it needs to store everything because it's starving. Follow the recommendations on the site, using a realistic goal of 1-2 lbs. lost per week, depending on how much you have to lose.
