Don't use the scale as your scorecard - make permanent lifestyle changes and the weight will take care of itself over time. If you know you are exercising and eating healthy foods, you will win in the long term. Permanent, healthy lifestyle choices are the key, IMO. My belief is that I am living like a 175 pound man, my…

Anything that you enjoy doing that is active, is a good thing. As long as this is something you can do everyday without it being a demotivating chore, you are winning. My advice is, make permanent changes that you can do forever. Even small changes, over the long-term make a huge difference. I have stopped snacking in the…

Friends here are definitely motivational - I would love to have another.

Hi Darlene, I will pray for you to have the strength. I have found the key for me is, making permanent lifestyle changes. This isn't a diet or tempoary situation, you are creating healthy habits to last a lifetime. God bless.

For me, I eat caramel rice cakes with peanut butter on them. Sweetness without the evils of candy bars.

That's insane weight loss, man. Great work!!!! Make your lifestyle changes permanent habits and you will be healthy for the rest of your life.

I have had all kinds of moments over the past two decades that have told me it is time: gout attack so bad I couldn't walk, chest pains, getting winded going up my stairs at home, inability to keep up with my kids outside, fear of having a heart-attack and leaving my family without a dad...but, the one that really seemed…

We are all different so you really need to know yourself, your motivations, triggers and tendencies. That being said, here are a few things that have been working for me: - Exercise in the morning before work. The day can get busy and often, "doing it later" never happens - Make your workouts something you enjoy. For me, I…

Eating after 9pm. I'm not hungry, it is just a habit when I am bored or watching TV. I still struggle with it but am a lot better now. I replaced the eating habit with riding my recumbent bike while watching TV.

You need to replace the eating habit. We are the sum of our habits so when you are bored/lonely/sad, your current habit is to reach for food and that provides you an emotional reward. You need to think of something to put in place of the eating habit that produces an emotional reward. Is it calling a friend? Going for a…

Add me. :)

If you do it once, it is easier to do it twice. Do it twice and the third time is easier - you are building a habit, it grows like a muscle. Replace the binge eating habit with another habit and watch your weight go down.

I was an awful late night binge eater and, I have found something that seems to work. In the evening, when I watchTV, I sit on my recumbent bike and ride rather than snacking. When I snack in the evening, I will only eat 2 or 3 rice cakes with peanut butter on them. That seems to work for me.

Hi Nichole, that sounds very much like my issue. I have never had a problem exercising and all day I can eat well then...9pm hits and I would go crazy with food. I had to fast for a blood test one night and couldn't eat anything after 7pm. The lab couldn't get blood from me the next morning because I was dehydrated so we…

Not specifically on a low carb diet but, I do try to avoid carbs when I can. I usually eat wraps instead of sandwiches to reduce carb intake.

Thanks for the replies folks - it is great to have support on the journey

Good advice. The main things that have helped me thus far include: - No eating after 8pm - Get up early and workout before going to work (stationary bike while watching TV) - No desserts - Weigh myself every day (keeps me accountable to myself) We all have different things that work for us so, use what works, discard what…

Don't come this time of year, it is very cold! In the summers, it is beautiful! I have always wanted to live in a place with no snow. :-)

Edmonton, Canada. Welcome to the journey!

Best of luck along your journey, Jen. I have added you.

Make lifestyle changes that you can maintain forever. Shows like the biggest loser show a lifestyle that is not sustainable forever - who has 6 hours per day to work out. For me, the big one is to not eat after 8pm and my exercise is riding my stationary bike while watching TV, those are two things I can maintain forever.…

I agree, weight loss is not linear - you will have ups and downs. The key is to make sustainable lifestyle changes, things you can do forever to live healthy. Best of luck along the journey we all share.

I have lost 21 since January 1 and have more than 100 to go. Glad to have friends along the journey as well. :)

Hey there. I started January 1 and I had 125 to lose - so far I am down 15! Some of the things I have found that have helped me are: no eating after 8pm, workout first thing in the morning before work. I keep busy to make myself think about other things so as to not obsess about food like I always have in he past. Best of…
