  • I am getting re-started after going waaaaay of course for a long time. Have 125 pounds to lose and would love to have some folks to help motivate each other. Request friends with me if you are interested.
  • You have a community here to help with motivation. Start with basic things you can change that you will be able to do your entire life. I find that 30 minutes on my recumbent bike is something I can do before work every day. I eat protein bars instead of the crap options I used to go for like chips and chocolate. Drinking…
  • I have started with riding a recumbent bike - that seems to be the easiest/most convenient/best way for me to get active. As I lose weight I am starting to walk both on a treadmill and outside now that the weather is nice. I do a little bit of running - walk 5 minutes, run for 1, walk for 5, run for 1....eventually I will…
  • I am one of the heaviest and most out of shape people I know - going up a flight of stairs winds me and I can't keep up with my kids or play sports anymore. A few weeks ago I was experiencing some chest pain and that worried me. I have started over to get in shape and so far so good - 14 pounds lost, about 113 pounds to go!
  • Protein bars are great - they help me stay away from junky options. I ride a recumbent bike in front of the TV for 30 minutes per day, it is a pretty easy way to get your cardio in and, bikes can be found cheap. Lots of people selling them - barely used! Best of luck on your journey.

  • Welcome back, motivation is definitely key!
  • I use protein bars and an otherwise healthy diet in addition to 30 minutes of cardio per day. Seems to be working so far and keeps my carbs relatively low. If you need motivation, feel free to add me as a friend.
  • Welcome to the journey - I am happy to be a friend as I have 120 to lose. Let's get this done!
  • Welcome!
  • When I have asked strangers, generally they have been great about it and are willing to help out. I don't like to do that to people so I use universal weights whenever possible. I also like the ability to quickly change the amount of weight I lift with universal sets.
  • God bless to you as well! Request sent.
  • Looking to lose 100+. Welcome to the journey!
  • Add me. I have 120 to lose and friends always help along the journey!
  • Edmonton, Canada. It was -15 Fahrenheit (-26 Celsius) overnight!!!
  • I need to lose 120 so feel free to add me - friends help motivation. Celebrate each little victory - when you lose 1 pound that is awesome. Lose 0.2 pounds that is awesome too! I weigh myself every day for motivation and even the tiniest losses add up nicely over time. Welcome!
  • The thing I find is, you have to develop permanent habits. Having a diet/lifestyle that helps you lose weight but is not sustainable is not going to work. That show - the Biggest Loser - that lifestyle is not sustainable, you cannot maintain that forever. So, create some permanent habits. In the evenings, rather than…
  • From beautiful Edmonton, Canada
  • I find that lifting weights helps to motivate me. Doing cardio is a big part of it but, when I lift, I feel stronger, I feel good. Mix in some weights and that may help.
  • For motivation: I weigh myself every day, have clothes that I want to fit into hanging where I see them every day and try to stay busy so I don't think of food. Snacking excessively is my big Achilles heel - now I snack better. I eat apples, broccoli or protein bars instead of the chips, chocolate and other crap I used to…
  • I have recently started lifting again - feels good after not having done so for many years.
  • I'm no Canuck - I am an Oiler! Checking in from Edmonton - feel free to add me as a friend if you like.
  • Welcome! The correct answer is above - feel free to add me. The more friends you have in this community, the better.
  • I have found that you need to do something you can maintain for the rest of your life. Some of the diets out there with no carbs and other extreme measures work temporarily but, you can't really maintain that forever. Simple changes can help - I only snack on fruit or veggies in the evenings as evening snacking is my…
  • Welcome! There are a lot of us fighting the same battle - it helps to have friends on here who motivate. Feel free to add me.
  • You don't break bad habits, you replace them. A habit is made up of three components the cue, the activity and the reward. What you need to do is replace the activity. I have a cue of sitting on the couch, watching TV. My habit was to eat a large bag of chips and maybe a Caramilk bar as well. My reward was the feeling I…
  • I have 97 more to go - feel free to add me. We can do this thing together.
  • Try making small permanent changes. For example, no eating after 8pm - period. No drinking calories. Those two things alone make a big difference for me. Yes, the first day will be hell, the second day will be hard but not quite hell, day three will be a little easier and eventually making the healthy choice will become a…
  • Welcome! Feel free to add me - I find that the motivation of having friends on here helps
  • Jenny, you don't have to do this all at once - small permanent changes in lifestyle will have a huge effect. For me, I have replaced my habit of eating every night while watching TV with drinking flavored water and riding a stationary bike. I know that your injury prevents you from exercising but, making healthy food…
  • I enjoy interacting with the people here, it is motivational - I don't want to let the group down. Any one person's success is a success for us all. We are a team. Here are some thoughts on what has worked for me: Don't use the scale as your scorecard - make permanent lifestyle changes and the weight will take care of…
