  • Just had chicken breast last night. They were big breasts, so I sliced them in half and did a 10 minute marinade of olive oil, S&P and some smoked paprika. Broiled them for about 5 minutes on each side. They turned out very juicy and now I have plenty for the next few days for salads, tacos or just snacking. I would have…
  • January 2nd Exercise - Yes - 70 minutes aquasize! Calories - Yes! Tracked - Yes!
  • Hi there! I'm the same age and started with the same amount of weight to lose. It's totally do-able but you have to get the right mindset. As far as exercise, you don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight but it helps speed things along and you will feel better. Face it - as we age it gets harder to move. The less we move the…
  • Moana for the 20th time with the granddaughter. Then finally watched Hunger Games Catching Fire with the husband.
  • January 1st - Happy New Year! Exercise - yes! 40 minutes yoga and 20 minutes disc golf! Under calories - yes! Tracked everything - yes! I have not logged my food or tracked exercise for about the past 6 weeks, so this was day 1 of getting back on track!
  • Hi! I don't know about the premium option having a "gluten-free" setting, but I doubt it. Based on my personal experience, MFP has tons of gluten-free foods in their data base, but you do have to add the items individually or create a recipe. Especially if you want to be at all accurate. I don't know how any database could…
  • I miss the AWESOME button, so I'll just say it - AWESOME!!!!
  • I think a lot of people say what they want on Facebook, as well. I've seen plenty of rude and miserable Facebook posts between so-called "friends". Just because it's MFP doesn't mean it's any different really. I've also been on MFP for several years and seen plenty of posts/replies both positive and negative. This is the…
  • It was probably a pretty intense workout. As other posters have mentioned, good to start slow. Just a few minutes at a time and add from there as you go. Your stamina will increase in no time!
  • Bumping up the link to the spreadsheet. Please click on the following link to sign up for the race. Add your name, your estimated weekly exercise minutes and choose a number between 1 and 6 If you want to be placed in a specific team.…
  • I think it is different for each individual. At 37 you will likely be able to reach and maintain the same weight you were at 27. Women's bodies do change during and after menopause and (for some) it is more difficult to reach that weight you thought was ideal in your 20's and 30's. I've known very thin women at my age, but…
  • Hi all! I'm Rae from the beautiful (currently wet and windy) state of Oregon, USA. I'm a wife, mom and grandma - empty-nester with 2 very spoiled and adorable fur-babies. I've been on MFP for nearly 3 years now and have done lots of fun fitness challenges, but this is my first Ultimate Accountability Challenge. Once you've…
  • I WISH I could find these to cook with. I understand they are super immune boosting, and especially good for women who've had breast cancer. I can only find them in dried (supplement form) but would love to cook with them if available somewhere. As far as the regular turkey tails (from a turkey) super yummy in a beans and…
  • Hoping to get into Hufflepuff again so we can #keepthecup!
  • Hi all! At 57, I'm older than a lot of you but have a history of PCOS and IC. I believe I had PCOS before it was a "thing". I had seriously painful and frequent periods (every 2-3 weeks) and sometimes ovarian pain that would put me in bed for days. After an ultrasound in my mid-30's showed visible cysts in both ovaries my…
  • Hi all! For anyone who is still around for this challenge I'm pretty sure I reached my goal but I don't have the stats to prove it. My garmin vivofit stopped syncing with the online program mid-May and I never could figure out what the problem was, so gave up on the regular updating. However, I was on target to reach the…
  • Hey Rus! Great job! If stupid MFP had not removed the AWESOME button I would have clicked on it. So, I guess it's a big HUG instead!
  • An hour south, but LOVE <3 Portland, visit often, and have lots of friends there. Welcome to MFP!
  • Great ideas! Question - for the corn tortilla pizzas do you heat them up first before adding the toppings? I've always been concerned that they'd just sog out unless I crisped them up beforehand. Of course I've never tried it either way - but want to!
  • ^^^^^^ This exactly! The nose knows! Whenever I save leftovers or plan to cook something that MAY be questionable I give it a good sniff. If it smells off then toss it out. I'm notorious for buying protein and then letting it sit in my fridge a couple days before cooking. I've thrown away too much, so now I get it into the…
  • Two fitness goals and one financial: * Complete the Great Columbia Crossing Bridge Run 10K. (Planned for it 2 years in a row. Canceled in 2016 by organizers due to a big storm and in 2017 by my crazy schedule.) This is the year! * Walk 1000 miles. * Become debt free, which will mean a lot of beans and rice, rice and beans!
  • ^^^^^ What she said! For me it's about a 50/50 equal split. Although I've never been obese, I've been overweight enough to be uncomfortable and not like how I looked in clothes (let alone out of them). So, there is a vanity component but at 57 I know I'll never look like 27 again so that's not what I'm shooting for. On the…
  • Gumdrops, ribbon candy, candy canes, circus peanuts and plain marshmallows (s'mores excluded). But I will take that 3 musketeers bar!
  • Yes! Lots of great success stories here including mine. After decades of up and down yo-yo dieting I've now maintained my current weight for over 2 years. For me it's not just logging in the food diary and tracking exercise. I've joined a number of fun fitness challenges with like minded people looking for support and…
  • What a jerk comment. I can't think of any way around what he said that would make it even slightly OK. And since it wasn't the first comment that was off-putting, there's a pattern.
  • While I'll take a big pass on the rest, a crispy slice of fried Spam is a yummy childhood memory. I think it's also the official snack food of Hawaii. On a recent visit there, we saw Spam musubi (spammity sushi) in almost every store so someone's eating it!
  • Processed cheese food and mass produced smoked meats in holiday gift packs. I used to get excited whenever someone would give us a gift box with all those processed meats and cheeses because they were packaged so pretty. But then the reality of eating them was always a disappointment. They now call the processed cheese a…
  • An old trick from my grandma - rub vaseline on your hands (or feet) and put cotton gloves (or socks) on before bed. I now use coconut oil and normally only do this with my feet once in awhile. After a summer of flip flop sandal heel and no time or money for a good pedi, this actually works wonders.
  • I almost always make New Years resolutions and I usually keep them. It's no different than regular goal setting, in my opinion. It's just a little extra reminder that it's good to set goals. * I'm currently maintaining, but I may give it one more try to lose that last 5-7. * Finally complete the Great Columbia Crossing…
