have a good trip, gutzy. I just spent a couple of days in California for work and was too busy to even think about searching for a pool. I may have to make a couple more trips this year, though, and will see if I can find an option. Hope you can defeat the VPN madness...

Unplanned swim last Sunday -- I was riding a wave runner thing and flew off while going fairly fast. About a 75 yard swim back to the boat. The only smart thing I did that day was put on a PFD before starting out. Next time I swim in the Puget Sound, I'd prefer to have a wetsuit! And not go skipping across the water on…

@emmab0902 -- your workouts are amazing. That is all.

Over 150 miles this month, not bad considering two weeks off for vacation. Shooting for 250 in September
-
I see a lot of awesome swims here! For me it was a shortened session yesterday: 2100 y in 51 minutes, ended by calf cramps. My only chance in the pool this week.

Married for ... a long time. 26 years. We delight and confound each other regularly. Just watched my father get married for the second time last week. He has outlived two wives and had to get hitched again. Marriage is weird and wonderful.

Two round trips commuting this week to close out the month with something close to 140 miles. September should be better, hoping for 250 at least.
-
Did almost 40 (39.8) today so my goal was got. Commuting tomorrow and the remainder of the month is gravy. And my butt is sore from today's long (for me) ride. My big accomplishment was washing the bike and lubing the chain before I put the bike away. A big section of today's ride was on gravel and there was a lot of dust…

Back from vacation last weekend but couldn't get on the bike for commute until today. MTD: approximately 76 Month goal: 100, should be able to hit it next week.

Two swims this week. Last night was 2650y in 59 mins. Getting back to best pace from six months ago. Looking forward to winter season starting in a couple of weeks.

Across the lake and back on two days where we were camping in Oregon. Google maps says it's about .8 mile across so a little more than 1.5 miles. Very algae-filled and hard to stay on course without a line to follow. Was a lot of fun and friends came along on stand up paddleboards to keep me from getting run over by boats.
-
2650 y in 60 minutes. Two days in a row. And now a break for vacation, hoping to get some open water.
-
2600 y in 60 minutes, recovering pace a bit. Did a few sprint laps. Half the pool filled with kids for swimming lessons and the water got super murky. Hadn't seen that before.
-
Ok then, my goal is a measly 100 miles for the month. Vacation is going to make it a challenge. 8/4: 19.87 miles (commute) Month to date: 19.87 Year to date: haven't figured it yet, just started riding again a couple months ago.
-
would like to join but I'm looking at two weeks of vacation this month and no bike in the picture. Will try and pick up the next month!
-
Tore off a 3k yard session. It was a slow pace but I am past 400,000 yards since I started tracking here.
-
I just saw this thread! :# Thank you AQ, I will try some of the exercises in that link -- headed to the gym tonight. Linked in that site is an interview about genetic causes for cramping which was an interesting read. The bit about hydration not having anything to do with cramping is very different from most of the advice…

Finally got in the water today for a blissfully quiet 3000 yards. I've really missed it.
-
Got my swim trunks on, went to the pool, and then watched way too many people crowd into the three lanes they had open for noon lap swim so I walked away. Yes, I'm spoiled.
-
Jumped in to a pool that wasn't covered last night. Pretty cool to start but overall quite nice. Then sprint guy showed up in the next lane. He passed me on his first 50, then I caught him up and eventually put a couple of laps on him. PR for 800 and 1500 y. I know it's not "real" racing as we're both pretty slow, but I…

2150y in 50 minutes. Tried bilateral breathing for the first time in probably eight months. Easily reached my chlorine macro for the day. Too much time out of the water lately so I'm going to try and jump in both days this weekend. It may seem weird, but I miss swimming in the cold and dark months. The pool's quieter and…

Had to shoehorn it in to the schedule but got 40 minutes in for just over 2K yards. Felt great to be back in the water!
-
5 minutes. 125 yards, then I bailed out due to crowding. No more Monday/Wednesday evening swim for a couple of months. Swim and dive lessons only leave two lanes open for laps and that's too crowded for this lap snob.
-
1850 in 41 minutes, could not get a full hour due to kids' swim team practice.
-
Nice work, @Robertus. I envy your pace. And @emmab0902, there is zero envy for that suit. It sounds horrible!
-
Played hooky for a noon swim. 3100 yds in 71 minutes.
-
finally found time to get a longer swim done. 3150 yards in 70 minutes. Felt so nice and loved outlasting the sprinters in the lanes around me...added bonus, getting it all done before the thunderstorm closed the pool!
-
Got in the pool but very distracted and not feeling it. Did a few 50y intervals with increasing pace. Burnt some calories but otherwise not very useful. 2000y in 43 minutes of swimming. More rests than I'm used to doing.
-
Congrats on a very nice pace. And yeah, the scent does come down and float on the water. Last year there was a mom who would sit 20 feet from the pool's edge that had the worst smelling perfume. It actually made me gag and I had to leave a couple of times when I couldn't move to another lane...

A bad day in the pool beats sitting on the couch! Didn't swim today. Rode to work and back instead. Trying to get ready for a big ride in late summer.
