whatta crap swim. My leg cramps are coming in sooner and I can't even do the distance I easily was completing a month ago. I have reached out to my physician but am not at all confident that I'll get help from the health co-op. Sorry to be a whiner.

Felt slow and the numbers from the Garmin Swim agreed. 2300 in 55 minutes. My pace is dragging; tomorrow will work in some sprints. The weather is clear and cool, kind of nice to swim in the evening light now that days are getting longer.

On the left I was 45 (seven years ago). On the right was last week.
-
Left: about six years ago, nearly 300 lbs, and I got bigger than that. Right: Over 95 lbs down, last week.

Returned from Ireland last night and a jet lagged swim today. 2500 yards in 60 minutes. Two weeks out of the water makes a big difference.

Seriously, cut some slack. I don't know if that euphemism translates, but take it easy! I was on track to hit my two miles without stopping goal today but due to high winds and power outage, had to cut my swim short. They kick us out when the pumps don't work. 2200 yds in 50 minutes. [outdoor pool problems]

Power outage earlier in the day + winds too blustery to deploy the pool cover + buckets of cold rain = a surprisingly cold water temp when I jumped in last night. Excellent motivation to start off at a brisk pace. Only 2300 yds due to &$%!## calf cramps but until those set in, a very pleasant and (for me) brisk session.

2300y in 53 minutes, a few sprints thrown in. I was the only lap swimmer in the pool with a lane to myself. Trying to get lots of pool time this week before heading across the Atlantic for twelve days. Need to try and find a pool in Dublin!

(The bingo game is probably not helping)

I confess that the forum mods are irking me. Updates to this forum thread are not showing up in my favorites and haven't been for weeks. There's no reason to do that. This is one of the most supportive and positive forum threads on all of MFP, even if it comes off as a bit clique-y.

Ugh. Not a good swim today. Wanted to do two miles but came up short:3250 yards in 81 minutes. 6 minutes of that was recovery from calf cramps. Last five swims I've been cramping up at 2500 yards. Felt very sluggish today. But the sun was out and I had a lane to myself so that worked out ok.

2650y 62 minutes. Need to get back to doing some intervals but it's so relaxing to just crank out the laps.

Very slow workout last night after donating blood earlier in the day. When they say "no strenuous activity for twelve hours" what they really mean is "you CAN'T do strenuous activity". It was as if I was transported back eight months as far as my speed and stamina. As for kicking, I'm with AQ. Most everyone passes me at…

7800 yds in 3 sessions this week. Pool is now busy for weeknight swims. Traveling for the weekend and no laps until next Monday.

In another recent thread, someone remarked that they enjoy the smell of chlorine. Mark me down for that. Way back (20 years?) when I was actively homebrewing beer, I compared a friend's very good IPA to pool water. He was very offended/confused until I was able to convince him this was a positive attribute for me. At the…

Our neighborhood pool is being nice and letting a youth swim team practice during our (usually) light evening lap swim. Being in the pool next to really fast kids is kind of fun. They separate them from us mostly old and slowpokes. Having to share lanes with other lap swimmers is not so much fun. I know, I'm spoiled.…

2 miles in 80 minutes, a very nice swim for the most part. Tried to do it non-stop but had to avoid a lane collision. Hope you're better soon @girlwithcurls2 -- my time for The Crud is usually when all the college students arrive in the fall. I think the regular chlorine rinse has helped me avoid getting a cold in the last…

Blustery evening in the pool last night. I just wanted to crank out the laps and turn my brain off. Slower pace: 2700 yds in 63 minutes. Totally worth the brain rinse. Only one other person in the pool.
-
Sorry to hear about your upcoming dry time. Sounds like you have a good plan, though. I've turned down some work related travel in the last year primarily because it would take me away from "my" pool.

I'm an on-time person. I showed up for my very first dinner date with a girl in college when I said I would. She appreciated that effort. Ended up getting hitched to her. People take you seriously if you show up on time! I get very haired out if I can't be some place on time. Weird, because I'm a pretty laid back person…

In addition to Noel's suggestions, I personally found the Zero to 1650 regimen to be very helpful at building my initial endurance in the pool when I started nearly a year ago. I'm certain my technique can use some coaching, but getting to the point of being able to swim a mile without stopping kind of forces some…

Half the lights were out in the pool last night, making my difficult to read watch pretty much invisible. It was one of those sessions that I thought was going really well, but ended really being a slower pace. 2550 y in 58 minutes.

My son (16 y.o.) said to me yesterday, " you look like one of the Blue Man Group guys" Thanks, boy, but your old man has another 30 to get out of Overweight BMI.
-
2950 yards in 66 minutes, gradually getting faster.
-
A nice brisk evening and much better pace. 2700y in 61 minutes including 200y of kickboard/fins.
-
A typical scene as the youth swim club wraps up their practice before evening lap swim.
-
Had three days out of the pool and excessive intake over the weekend resulted in last night's swim being cold and slow. 2550y, 61 minutes.
-
Yes! Someone else uses the the Jethro as a unit of measurement! (runs off to tell the Lady)

A nice quiet evening in the pool. 2800 yards in 63 minutes. Lots of good thinking time away from screens and voices. Kind of cool weather, only two others in the water. Probably last swim until Monday.

Well, I was spurred on by sprint 50s guy who likes to pace off and lap me (did not happen). Plus the suggestions that I've received here to do some interval sprints have helped bump my pace. But I'm one of the slowest in the pool most days. Congrats on your medals and PR @emmab0902 and good luck in London, @aliciamariaq No…
