  • Welcome! Nice to meet you.
  • Welcome! I look forward to getting to know you. It's always nice to have more friends on the journey. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want to.
  • I agree with Michelle that freezer meals are the best way. Also, when you're trying to get enough greens but you're sick of salad, add some broth and some spices and make soup, or add oil and spices and make stir fry.
  • Welcome, Heather. Cute dog. Looking forward to getting to know you as well.
  • Jaydek, I would love to get mine a little closer to that. Fat is easy, but what do you eat to get your protein up there?
  • Welcome! It's great that you'll be raising your kids on clean eating. They will be healthier for it. I don't have kids of my own, but I helped raise my nephew from about 3-6 years old. If your child is a picky eater, it might help to involve him/her in the cooking process. You could also try to make fun designs and things…
  • See yourself as beautiful and others will too. I have a hard time with that sometimes. I have to remind myself that the only thing average about me is my own self view.
  • The sugar industry actually disagrees with that claim. "Made from sugar" means they started with sucrose, took out some hydroxyl, and replaced it with chlorine. Also, a diabetes journal did a study showing how it affects insulin and blood sugar levels. http://m.care.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/2013/04/30/dc12-2221…
  • Walden Farms uses Splenda. I don't have enough information on Splenda to say it's horrible and should be avoided, but it is a chemical product that I, and I believe most clean eaters, prefer to avoid. I just thought I should mention that.
  • I love to make homemade soups with bone broth. I vary what goes into it based on what I have on hand, and it's easy and delicious.
  • Welcome. You've come to a friendly community where most of us aren't strict about 100% clean, but we recognize the benefits of doing what we can. No judgments, we support each other.
  • Oops. Makes me feel fuller and keeps my blood sugar stable longer.
  • I try for 40% fat, 30% each of carbs and proteins. Honestly, my protein is usually lower than that and both fat and carbs a little higher. I've been losing weight easily, though. The higher fat makes me feel fuller and keep
  • Glad it worked out. Maybe all the tips will help someone else who came to this blog with their own headaches.
  • Yes. I get the same way if I eat junk.
  • As far as gluten goes, if you're sensitive to it you should certainly avoid it. Otherwise, limit it but don't cut it completely out. The average diet has become far too heavy on wheat products, and gluten is somewhat difficult to digest. However, it isn't the evil ingredient causing all the world's problems that some…
  • Consider what new foods you have added to your diet. Even healthy foods can cause problems if you're sensitive to them. Some common problem foods that are often thought of as healthy are soy, tomatoes, dairy, eggs, and wheat.
  • I currently live in an apartment, so everything is in containers.
  • I'm a horrible gardener. I mostly grow simple things like mints. I was growing watercress, but I wasn't eating enough of it to justify keeping it around. I'm currently growing garlic, and it should be ready to harvest before too much longer. I'm excited to see how it is. I'm also growing jasmine. I've been pleased that it…
  • One of the things I love about this group is that, even though we each have our own opinions of what clean eating is, nobody gets upset or pushy about it. We can give and receive advice and use what works for each of us. The main boards have some ridiculous, heated arguments.
  • I completely agree. I've seen a lot of stupid things on the main boards. My way of thinking is that when I make the effort to get all the nutrients I need from real food sources, I just don't have room for a lot of junk. I've personally found that I can eat a lot more healthy foods without gaining than I can junk food.
  • Saturated fats can actually be very good for you if you get them from a healthy, natural source. For instance, coconut oil is high in saturated fat, and it is extremely healthy. Grass-fed beef is also very good.
  • For me, clean eating is eating "real food". I like a quote I heard once, "Real food doesn't have ingredients, it is an ingredient." I also avoid dairy and minimize sugar and gluten, but those are things that I know my body does better without. Everyone has to find what they need.
  • I love almonds! I buy them in bulk and keep them around for a quick healthy snack.
  • Try eating more fats and proteins. People on diets have a tendency to avoid them because they have more calories per gram, but they fill you up better and keep you feeling full longer than carbs. Keep your carbs at a minimum.
  • Hello! I'm new too. Weight has never been a big problem for me, but if I don't watch what I eat, I end up with health problems. Before I started to learn about nutrition, I would have to be on antibiotics for severe respiratory infections 2-3 times a year and still be coughing all the time. Plus I always needed antacids to…
  • If God is calling you to fast something for him at any time of year, absolutely do it. However, be sure to check your motives and ask God if he's calling you or if it's just you. Fasting (giving up something we enjoy and replacing the time we would be doing it with time spent with God) is a wonderful thing that God does…
  • When the world hates you, just remember what excellent company you're in. It hated him first. If everything is going smoothly and the world is treating you well, stop and think about what you're doing wrong, because Satan attacks people who are a threat to him.
  • I agree. Our bodies are God's temples. When I read about how carefully God told his people to design his temple, then I read that I am his temple, I know he wants me to take care of this body.
  • I like Boulder Canyon Chips. They don't add all the junk in.
