Berries have fewer carbs. I try to get a bunch when they're on sale. Do you like really dark chocolate? Also, getting more healthy fats in your diet like coconut oil, seeds, and grassfed meats and dairy products will help reduce carb cravings.

You could try coconut sugar. Also, remember that the longer you can stick with a less sweet diet, the less you will need any sweeteners. Your body adjusts to the flavor. Most cultures would think Americans are crazy for the amount of sugar in all our food. It's just too sweet.

The numbers are just a guide, and personally, I change mine to fit my body. If you're having trouble with carbs, try eating more berries instead of other fruits. (Note: strawberries aren't really berries. )

Have you ever tried baking with coconut or almond flour? They're not the same as wheat flour. You're texture and flavor will be completely off. They certainly have their uses, but they don't replace wheat flour.

GASP! You ate a star crunch. So what. Add me and you can check out how often I cheat. It's not about perfection. It's about feeling better. If you can't treat yourself once in awhile, then it's all pointless. 25 days without cheating is really good. Just saying.

Are you eating more or less than your carb goal? If you're eating too much, I recommend adding more fats. It will make you feel more satiated and crave fewer carbs. If you're eating too few, just be cautious. A Ketonic diet (low carb, high fat and protein) is great for weight loss but can cause kidney problems if done…

My go to is honey. Especially if it's raw locally farmed honey. The benefits of it outweigh the negative of the carbs. It will fight allergies, help your body heal faster, soothe your throat, and more. Plus, I think it tastes better than sugar.

I completely agree. When you really start eating enough nutritious foods to get what you need for the day, there isn't much room left for junk.

I'm personally not a coffee drinker, but only because I don't like the flavor. Coffee can actually have some positive health effects. I would recommend limiting to no more than 3 cups a day. Also, don't drink it on an empty stomach. It affects your cortisol levels when you drink coffee first thing before breakfast. The…

Cauliflower. Fills me up with less calories, and it contains lots of B Vitamins. It also has Vitamin C and Potassium. Plus, it's so versatile.

Sammy, it sounds like you're already eating clean. Basically, avoid artificial or processed everything. You should look up homemade bone broth and make your own soups. It's cheaper and more nutritious.

One tip is, if you aren't already, get comfortable with spices. Processed foods are generally heavy on salt and sugar. When you start making your own meals, they'll taste bland without spice. However, with a variety of spices, they're much better than processed foods. I like some type of ground meat (grass fed beef,…

How is organic food higher quality than non organic? How is a grassfed steak higher quality that a grain fed dry aged steak?[/quote] Grass fed beef actually has different nutritional value than grain fed, particularly in the fat. For instance, the Omega 3 fatty acids are higher in grass than grain fed. What the animal eats…

Their are so many blogs about this subject that give great tips. Two of my favorites are MyHumbleKitchen.com, and WellnessMama.com

One tip is to eat plenty of healthy fats and a fair amount of protein. Your body is craving energy. Carbs just happen to be the fastest source. Protein lasts longer in your system, and fat even longer still. Also, a chromium deficiency causes carb cravings, because it is important for insulin regulation. Getting more…

I'm not a vegetarian, nor do I have a Vitamin D deficiency, but I might have some knowledge I can pass on. Usually, sunlight is the best way to get Vitamin D, but as we age, our bodies lose that ability. I know some vegetarians still eat eggs. If you do, egg yolks are a good source. Also, cottage cheese. Vitamins that…

If they were creating "smarter and more efficient pesticides and herbicides" why would they need to genetically modify the plants? Yes, pesticides are a necessary evil. Without them too many crops would be lost. I still prefer a sprayed on pesticide that can be washed off over a built-in pesticide that's part of my food.
-
Much of the problem with GMOs isn't even the modifications themselves (although mixing my food with bacteria that kill insects or with a virus just doesn't sound all that safe to me). One major reason they are doing it is to be able to use more and stronger herbicides and pesticides. They are spraying our food with more…

I think the best way is just stop buying processed foods. You will still have some in your home for a while, but each time you run out of something just buy a clean replacement.

Sugar cravings are hard, because sugar is addictive. However, 2 tips: get plenty of protein and healthy fats; get plenty of chromium. Protein and fats give your body the energy it craves. Chromium helps regulate blood sugar levels; deficiency in it will make carb cravings worse. Hope this helps.

Don't give up Ashley. What types of foods do you crave? Maybe someone has a suggestion for a healthy alternative.

Lack of time and money are my biggest challenges when it comes to clean eating. I'd love more friends who understand and are on the same journey.

I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners. I find that Stevia messes with my blood sugar. Vitamin B and Ginseng are great natural ways to get energy. If you need the caffeine, try Runa Tea or The Republic of Tea has Hi-Caf Teas.
