This us not what the OP requested. Please don't derail the thread.

Obviously and looking at the above picture, BMI is not accurate for those two guys, but for the general population is not too bad. Unless doctors decide to go by body fat % instead of BMI, and insurance companies pay for DEXA or a reliable test to determine body fat in an individual, BMI is the only thing that we have.

Hypothyroid since 2004 (not obese or overweight), treated and with steady and controlled thyroid values with Levothyroxin and Liothyronine. My macros by choice are 35% P and C and 30% F. and in maintenance for almost 9 years. My doctor never told me that I needed to eat a specific way being hypothyroid or that by changing…

From the top of my head these are the tools that have worked for me during almost nine years of maintenance. Sorry, I don't do pictures ;) My bathroom scale, my clothes, sometimes the kitchen/food scale, measuring cups, occasionally the measuring tape (when I remember which is not too often). My love for exercise, control…

"The anti-dsDNA (anti-double stranded DNA) antibody test is a blood test that looks for antibodies to double stranded DNA. The anti-dsDNA antibody test is a very specific test for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). That’s because Anti-dsDNA antibodies aren’t found in any other autoimmune disorders other than SLE." And a…

@PolarBearBob Sorry for that terrible quake and happy that you and yours seem to be doing OK. I was almost on top of the January 1996 Northridge 7.0 quake in So. California and I know what you mean. Fortunately my house, family and friends did well- even when we had to rescue some of them-but the area and the aftermath of…

Smoothies, soups, scramble eggs and/or egg whites, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, cream of wheat, oatmeal Dentist don't recommend using a straw when we have dental problems. The sucking produces a vacuum in the whole mouth that may attracts blood clots (I know that you didn't have surgery, so this may not apply to you), but…

No, I don't weigh or log (too much hassle and inaccuracies, and no worthy for me), but I mentally count calories and I chose mindfully. I don't eat fast food, and I try to limit eating out to once a day. Since I don't drink and I am not a foodie, it works for me. Walking a lot also helps. What I do and has helped me a lot,…

I do that too. Rice cake, spread a little bit of PB, and add a slice of Swiss cheese. Delicioso!

The same here, except that I don't estimate restaurant food and I don't log on vacation either. In my book it would be very rude to bring a food scale to a restaurant or to somebody's house. Edited to add that: I didn't use a food scale while I was losing, and I was successful even when I had less than 12lbs to lose. I got…

Me neither. Sickness and stress curbs my appetite, and if I eat I prefer soups, salads, yogurt or some fruit.

My very long distance cousin... I love but I can't drink red wines anymore -any kind; they give me tachycardia (probably the sulfites). Most of the wines give me GERD now due to a hiatal hernia so I am drinking less and less every time. To the point that I feel that just smelling the cork makes me dizzy... I had almost two…

I agree with that (am 74 so I know that some neurons are probably not firing up very well). I keep a mental log of the ingredients and their weight in a salad, or of what I had for lunch and dinner. I find the "remembering" a good exercise for my brain and memory. When recipes have many ingredients, then I use a pencil and…

I think that taking pictures of the food at a restaurant, unless you are a reporter for a culinary magazine, is tacky. And taking pictures at somebody's house is not good table manners and borderline disrespectful in my book. If somebody has trouble remembering pencil and paper will do the trick. But that is me, and you…

I don't eat the things that I don't like or make me sick, and foods that are not worthy wasting calories on (garlic, anything with cinnamon, raw onions, too many sweets, chocolate, fast food, pasta, heavy sauces, smoothies, bagels, donuts, fried foods {with the exception of sharing on occasion french fries or sweet…

I lost .06lbs from 11/22 to 11/23. I will get them back tomorrow because I am going out to dinner tonight :'(

Broccoli casserole all gone. Gave a family member some turkey and mashed potato so less leftovers for me. Cooked the back bones and some dark meat and I made broth. Tomorrow I will freeze some liquid and use the rest for a turkey vegetable soup. Froze some mashed potatoes to eat on a later day. The rest of the turkey will…

@oat_bran -do you mostly log food on your computer or on mfp app? PC -do you plan and pre-log your most of your meals or do you decide what you want in the last moment? I very seldom pre-plan and when I do is just to have a general idea. I don't pre-log unless the meal is already done or cooking or if it is something…

I am going to try to return the two bags of Spring Mix that I bought yesterday (Fresh Express). The one that I had open is already in the garbage. Nobody got sick this week but I have company, and I am not taking a chance.

Thank you for your answer. You nailed it!

I am with @oat_ brand and all the poster that expressed dislike with the logging and in my case also the weighing. I don’t like doing it because it adds more work and thoughts to the cooking, which is something that I never enjoyed. When almost nine years ago I got to my goal weight, I decided to slow down and take…

I listen to what ever music is playing at the gym (mostly oldies). Most of the time I don't even hear anything since I am in the "zone" lifting or doing some moderate cardio (no running).

Good choices and recommendations; however hard to do when you have three young children, special two very active toddlers. Let's be a little more realistic. OP, if you have some time for you when the kiddos are at school, nursery or taking a nap, check some exercise DVDs or UT videos (yoga recommendation is a good one!).…

I need to try it because I don't like oatmeal too much either; besides, it doesn't satisfy me for long period of time, and it also screws-up my daily carb count. My husband makes breakfast in the morning and it is either English muffin or a waffle with ham and cheese, or sometimes an over-easy egg. But once in awhile I…

I don't log during the holidays either. Even if I prepare the food, which I will partially" do this year. I don't weigh anything and I don't bother to calculate know how many servings are in each meal either. My meals are very simple and they don't involve a lot of high calories ingredients. Some family members eat low…
