@ferderickt911 I have been maintaining for over 6 years with not too strict or consistent logging or weighting. I don't log when on vacation unless I am cooking and the food items are already part of my food list (not too often), and I don't carry with me a food scale anywhere. I don't log restaurant food unless my choices…

That is what I do. I never weighted the cooked meal; the pot would not fit on top of the scale and it would probably burn it too, but above all, and in my opinion, it will be an overkill. For soups and stews one serving = two full ladles (what ever that is in grams). For chili and meatloaf I always use 16lbs ground of beef…

Meh, that is an over kill and way too much time consuming. I don't log spices unless they are part of my recipe and only because I want to remember what I used; not for the calories. I don't log any vitamins and supplements or Pam/vegetable spray. I don't log chewing gum or any cough drop or medicine. I didn' do it when I…

I don't log what I don't find in the database or if the restaurant doesn't have the nutritional information in their menu. I enter a description of what I ate in the Comments section of my diary and that's it. For me it is not worthy spending time looking for something similar in the MFP database because I will never find…

Wine is the only think that I would suggest (add seltzer to make it last longer) because I don't like the taste of Vodka, Gin, Rum, Tequila or any kind of cocktails or mixed drinks. Although I wouldn't mind a glass of a good whiskey on the rocks, but my stomach can't handle alcohol anymore :'(
-
I agree with most of your points, and I do follow them. Except that I don't log restaurant calories at all unless I find the nutritional information in their website or in MFP. I don't waste my time looking for something similar because it is not important to me and the estimation will not be accurate anyway. So why…

The same with my husband and me, that is why we eat out a couple of times a week, plus on birthdays, anniversaries, gathering with friends, and for any other fun excuse that we may find :) . Social life with only two people as part of it can be very limited. We don't want that. We like to try local places or what ever has…

Interesting but I don't have any beer in the house (we don't drink much beer) so what is good to substitute?

Because it is a painful surgery. Aren't you a nurse?
-
Ask your doctor not the people in MFP or the internet. What is good and recommended for one person may not be the same for you. Most of the doctors recommend cold or room temp food, not hot or solids for at least a week. If your doctor or nurse didn't give you any guidance, then ask; if they did, just follow their…

Close to 7 years and on maintenance for 6 and 1/2. I left about 2.5 years ago because I go tired of all the logging, weighing, and also because the forums and friends kept me hooked to this website, but and I kept my weight down and within my 2+/- lbs range. I came back because I wanted to keep better track of my macros…

My husband and I eat out a couple of times during the week and most of the time the restaurants may have two or three locations near by, and some only one since they are local places. None of them have the nutritional information listed in their menus and looking for something similar in this website would be time…

I am confused by your comment/question. Besides all the good recommendations posted already, the only way to actually see your weight loss is to weigh yourself in a bathroom scale. Are you thinking that just by logging into this database you will see a weight loss? MFP is not that smart.

When I am low in fresh produce (or tired, sick or lazy to chop) I use frozen vegetables in my soup. Any variety such as Frozen California style, Frozen Vegetables for stew are good options. Just chop an onion, add the frozen vegetables and chicken, vegetable or beef broth. Bring it to a boil and let it simmer until the…

I haven't drank any diet soda/pop in over ten years. GERD gone!

@amadorica How do you know that you get that much fiber since you are not tracking it in your diary? I would be living in the bathroom if I had that much amount on a daily basis. I did check your diary and your daily carb intake is very high, and not many of us want to reach those numbers.
-
Even if you don't eat bran cereal and milk for breakfast, you can add smaller amounts of any kind of brand cereal to cottage cheese, yogurt, salads, and even ice cream to pump your fiber intake.

If you have chest pain after exercising is probably because your lungs are still weak; you may need the help of a respiratory tech in order to develop good breathing habits and increase lung capacity. Your doctor or hematologist may be able to give you more recommendations; they should. Please talk to them because all…

Beautiful pictures and glad that everyone is OK. Aaaah snow! something that I really like to see in pictures ONLY .

Since it is only my husband and I, I only use the convention toaster oven for cooking (got a new one for Xmas), not the big wall oven. But I do use it to store some oven roasting pans that are too big for the drawers or cupboards. My oven is also very clean because if I remember correctly I only used it once a couple of…

And a second that.

I don't take food anywhere unless it is a pot-luck or if I share cooking responsibilities with the host/hostess. I always find something that is good and healthy for me to eat at a restaurant; and I eat out quite often. Salads are everywhere and most of them are delicious, not boring. But I do understand the need to bring…

You can rinse the beans before using them to wash out some of the sodium but the change will not be reflected in your diary; I don't think that there is way to actually know how much the sodium was reduced. But S & W and Full Circle Organic have reduced sodium beans. They may be a little more expensive but for me it is…

I only logged breakfast on 12/25 since we ate at home. I had the Christmas meal around 1:30PM (yes, I had salad) and a small desert with coffee at about 4PM. I didn't log anything because I had no idea of the calories and I was not going to waste my time looking for "estimations" in the website. I was very controlled and…
-
Yes, I am having/taking/preparing a salad buffet for Christmas dinner, plus what ever else will be served at the table. Festivity is what we make of the day, not what we serve or eat.
-
That was not nice!!! If you see a picture of a heavy person would you say that all you see is fat and rolls. Shame on you.
-
I have been maintaining for six years and I still log if I eat at home and make my own meals, but I am not very accurate anymore; sometimes I leave things out and I never close my diary. I don't log when I eat out unless the restaurant has the nutritional information on line or on MFP, and sometimes I just don't bother…

Too full :D
