  • Thank you for the welcome! And thank you for not calling me old - however, I am the OldWoman in the office and with the group of folks we hang around - by at least 15 - 20 years. However, I can still run circles around most of them. Well, now I can. Looking forward to March and hoping for warmer weather. I did not even…
  • Thank you for the well wishes. I giggle just thinking about if my husband suggested to "not be in a mood". He wouldn't see me for a couple of week, I'm thinking. Then we would chat about it after his eyes weren't swelled shut anymore ;) ... So far, the only thing bothering me is the sleeping even worse than usual.…
  • I saw this group through Snooozie -- thank you! MMH is right up my non-sleeping, hot flashing, cranky (at times), low energy, dry skinned, want to eat everything person. Love reading about all the goals everyone has. My biggest and most important goal for February has been to walk away from my HRT. And February 12 was the…
  • I start with total calories and serving size for those calories - then sodium (high blood pressure) and sugars. But, I have also learned to look at the ingredient listing to see how many different "ose" there may be and if they are artificial. Have a bad reaction to most all of the artificial sweeteners. Am working on…
  • Weight loss is not linear. My weight fluctuates 2 pounds up and down. It depends on my sodium intake, TOM and how much exercise I had. May be you should only weigh once a week at the same time first thing in the morning.[/quote] ^This. I was weighing everyday (sometimes 2x a day) for awhile and the fluctuation on the scale…
  • Reading your post and so many of the others - I believe I wrote them myself! Sounds so very familiar. Did lose a good number of pounds back in my early 40's - fell off that wagon and managed in my journey through every restaurant in town to gain 60 (20 more than lost). Having trouble even getting through menopause at 55 -…
  • While watching any of those shows; first is curiosity as to how it happens to that extreme (either 600# or hoarding); and then comes sadness at their plight and then "it" kicks in - either I want to go run another few miles or start throwing things out of my house - which scares my husband since there isn't anything left…
  • My motivation tends to go the opposite way -- what clothes motivate me? The clothes I just convinced myself to get rid of and never have to buy that up size again! When the new clothes I had to buy after losing weight start feeling tight - I know I have not been smart with my lifestyle and that kicks me into gear. Lucky…
  • Good luck! I, too, came to MFP a couple years ago - lost quite a bit, then jumped off the proverbial wagon kicking and screaming. I kept coming back and falling off - regained about 10# - but, now it is time! We Can Do This! One day at a time. If one day isn't so great in the portions or eating - the next day give it a go!…
  • I very rarely have any left over avocado - we fight over them in our house - but, if so, yes leave the nut in and "close" it back up, wrap it and put in the fridge. Then take it back out 10 minutes later and eat it! :D I will eat a whole one as long as I have figured that into my log.
  • LOVE the avocados! Any way, any time, on anything! I have one sitting on my desk for lunch - just cut it open and eat it with a spoon! Grosses out my office mates - but, hey, makes me happy!
  • Congratulations OP! What I took away from your journey is that everyone needs to find their way through the myriad of opinions to what makes their body tick and feel good. What makes *me* tick/work/run/play is to limit sugar/processed food intake - and everyone around me is happiest when I limit - the crash is UGLY.…
  • I would like to join over 50 -- I am 57, live in Ohio, work full time (more than full time) and trying to get back on the weight loss wagon.
  • ahhhhh Mexican food - my biggest weakness. When we do go out, yes, I try to avoid the chips - or, take 3 chips and put them on a little plate and eat lots of salsa with a little chip. Fajitas with corn tortilla is your best bet - or, like others have said, order what you like - eat 1/2 of it and take the rest home or leave…
  • I do prep for the week. It has saved so much time and effort and easy throw together meals when I come home hungry! Having something ready to roll makes it so much easier and I am less likely to grab those Tostitos! I prep my chicken into bite size, tenders, and I also do a crockpot full of chicken to shred and freeze;…
