  • Try to find something else that you enjoy to replace the eating. Go for a walk, plant some flowers, read a book, or even do some volunteer work, anything that you can do instead of eating. Volunteering can really give you a boost emotionally. :) Try to eliminate most of the high fat/high sugar foods from your home so that…
  • I have worked as a cosmetology instructor and am currently working as a part time dog groomer. I really don't care at this point what work I get, I just want a little something to get me out of the house! Yes, I am proud of the 41 lb loss, but I do still have a lot to go. Hoping to get back on track and get the pounds…
  • What you need to understand is that if your calorie intake is too low, your body tends to store up what you do eat. You will lose more if you do not cut your calorie intake so low. Make sure you eat close to or just under your calorie goal. It's up to you if you eat your exercise calories. I chose not to. :)
  • Just popping in because I find myself needing support. I have lost 41 lbs so far, but find myself slipping back into some old habits and then feeling crappy afterwards. I need to get myself back on track again, but dang it's hard! Any motivational support would be greatly appreciated! I am 52 years old and currently…
  • My food journal is always open for anyone to see. Would be great if yours are too.
  • Yep, I need to loose at least 125! I've lost 36 so far. Count me in!
  • Hi Kim! When I joined MFP a little over 2 months ago I was over 300 lbs also. I am now happy to say that at last weigh in, I had lost 36 lbs and am now under 300 lbs! MFP definitely works. Keep doing what you are doing! You will get there. If you have a bad day, just get back on track the next day. Feel free to add me. My…
  • My son bought a sandwich maker for me for Christmas. I didn't think I would like it, but it's great to fix a homemade egg McMuffin. I use Thomas Hearty Wheat English Muffins, an egg, and canadian bacon. If I add cheese, it's either lowfat or fat free cheddar. Works great for an occasional craving for the foods like an egg…
  • This my second time around losing the weight. Lost 100 lbs once and I was so pleased with the way I looked then, that all I wanted to do was dress myself up with nice clothes and sparkly jewelry! I bought so much jewelry it was unreal. Ran up a big credit card bill! LOL! My husband was about ready to kill me! BUT boy was…
  • Any mother in law that objects to someone bringing their own healthy food options when they are on a weight loss journey is not much of a mother in law. Just let her be offended if she chooses to be! It's your health, and your body. If you are concerned that she will be offended, take along enough to share. If you know the…
  • Here's a recipe for skinless boneless chicken that we really like. In a large skillet, place frozen or fresh skinless chicken breast cut in thirds lengthwise. Top with about half of a medium chopped onion, sprinkle with garlic powder, and 1/4 c. chopped green bell pepper. Cover and let cook until chicken has turned white…
  • If anyone wants the recipe for the chicken, let me know and I can post it. It also has onion, garlic and green pepper added to enhance flavor.
  • Homemade chicken tenders simmered in rotel diced tomatoes with green chilis (this if very good, and can be served with cheese on top, but I left cheese off), homemade mashed potatoes, and green beans.
  • Yes a pound is a pound, but if you have a pound of muscle verses a pound of fat, the fat takes up much more volume. If you had that same volume of muscle, verses fat, the muscle would weigh more because it is much more dense than fat. That's what I'm getting at. So yes, while you may be gaining muscle mass, you could still…
  • If you are lifting weights, you may be gaining because of increased muscle mass, not a fat gain. Muscle weighs more than fat. You may actually be losing fat weight as you gain muscle. Don't panic.
  • Oh, and I am from southwest Virginia!
  • Hello everyone! I have been using mfp for a few weeks now and have lost 23 lbs. I still need to lose 100+. I'm determined to get this weight off! I'm tired of not being about to do things with my family and tired of not feeling well. Just 23 lbs has already made a big difference in the way I feel. Mfp works! It is a great…
  • I got to the point that I got out of breath just walking across the floor in my own home. That scared the heck out of me. I realized that I either loose the weight or die. I want to live a happy life with my family and be able to do more. I'm tired of being ashamed to go to ball games or wrestling events at our local high…
  • Anyone in this group from Virginia?
