All of these are great ideas! I would also add that you should log everything you consume, especially when you're eating for reasons other than hunger. It will help you see the "calorie price" you're paying to do that emotional eating, and maybe identify common triggers. Better yet, pre-log what you're thinking about…

WTG! You look great and I love the happy smile and positive attitude!

For the love of God, be sure you're logging all of those calories too. Keto seems to be effective for some folks, but not if you eat more calories than you burn. I learned that the hard way doing Atkins some years ago. ;-)

It's a doctor's job to advise you if you're overweight/obese, and of the related health risks. It's wrong if they ignore other symptoms and blame everything on the weight. And especially if the issue is not caused by or made more severe due to weight. However... After I lost 90 lbs, I got dramatically fewer colds and…

Hi sandypants - a meal plan like you describe above is not necessary and certainly doesn't need to cost money or be complex. My suggestion: log all food and drink that goes in your mouth for a week or two. Focus just on learning how to log accurately. (Weighing food, measuring liquids, and finding accurate database entries…

Tell them you're trying to avoid added sugars and see if they will keep some healthier foods in the house while you are there. If they won't, then bring your own healthy food and eat that instead.

Great advice here! I've been maintaining for 2 years now and still struggle with the urge to binge once in awhile. What works for me? 1) I avoid buying the trigger food at the grocery store and bringing it home! Unless it's a very small single serving size. I'm not perfect though, and sometimes that darn full size box of…

400 grams is .9 lbs - you are expecting to lose almost a pound a day, everyday? I think your expectations are unrealistic and unhealthy, unless you are just starting out and have 100+ pounds (45+kgs) to lose. Plug your stats into MFP and eat the amount of calories they give you. Weigh all of your food in grams, measure all…

Hi MegaMooseEsq - I hope you and your family are safe and doing well.

MatthewRuch Your post is awesome and literally made me LOL! ETA: For some reason MFP is not attaching your quote to my post.
-
ask your niece for her MFP user name, and then search for that.

I use the bagged Tri-color shredded cabbage mix as a substitute for spaghetti. Actually, I use it to replace many starches - with pot roast & gravy instead of potatoes; with chicken curry instead of rice; etc. adds great nutrition, fiber, flavor for far less calories!

Hey Polo265 - I see this as a Non Scale VICTORY for you! 1) you looked good enough to warrant a "Wow" and compliment from the husband...and... 2) you looked good enough to make this woman insecure when her husband said something nice. So even though she was a *kitten* about it, she actually paid you a bigger compliment…

Thank you to everyone for their perspective! I will continue to recommend the MFP goal as a good starting place for those who don't know where to start. And of course, accurate logging to help meet the goal and understand if it's working as expected. Hopefully MFP will continue to develop the user interface to make the set…

I thought you are required to create an account in order to post a question on the Forums...let me know if I'm wrong about that.

But...you took the time to go enter your stats and get a starting calorie goal. You're tracking and monitoring, and will adjust in 30 days as needed. That's taking ownership of the process! :-)

Congrats on your 26 lb loss! Yes, when I followed MFPs calorie goal + 75% of exercise calories, I always lost weight at the expected rate. Still works in maintenance too. The tricky part is actually following those goals - LOL.
-
I should clarify - I don't mean "why don't people trust the MFP calorie goal no matter what." Everyone has different circumstances and may need to adjust the MFP goals up or down. But it's a great place to start, if someone is new and seeking guidance. I was curious why some people don't even try to enter their stats and…

Why just "hope" you're in a deficit? Have you entered your stats in MFP? What calorie goal did it give you? Do you weigh and log all the food/liquids you consume? Doing this is what got me through a stall, got me to goal weight, and in maintenance for 2 years. :-)

I'm on my second Mirena. Lost 90 lbs several years ago, on Mirena, in my mid 40s. Still maintaining that loss, and longer than any previous loss. My opinion - no medical training- is that BC in general causes some water weight gain initially and maybe some increase in appetite. But it's all within your control and does not…

Ken's Artisan Pizza is amazing! I need to go again soon...

Now this is interesting...I'm 5'1" and people tell me all the time I look shorter after losing weight! Like, people I've always known have stopped to look at me and said "Damn - were you always this short?" LOL But I think they're right. I feel much more petite in general, since losing weight. ETA: MFP cut off the last two…

Looking for friends here too! I'm two years into maintenance, looking for new and interesting fitness goals. My diary is closed, but I would love to give/get support and fun fitness ideas!

THIS x1000. OP - when I first started, I lost 35 pounds in a year making small changes in diet & activity. Which is great! But then I stalled...still had 55 lbs to go. And started to gain a few back. Then I found MFP, started weighing & logging everything I ate/drank. Followed MFP calorie goal and ate back 50-75% of my…

Thank you! I needed to do it for my health, and I couldn't keep up with my young son. The best part of getting fit, for me, is knowing I'm setting a better example for him. Here are some things I did that made it work for me this time. If any of this is useful to you, great! Set small goals and remove any deadlines: 90 lbs…

You can do it! Those are almost exactly my stats too. I don't look perfect now, but I think I look better. And more importantly, I FEEL better! So much healthier and full of energy. 5'1" 48 yrs old SW225 CW138 GW135. Lost 90 lbs over 18 months and have maintained for about 2 years now.

I had an anchor lift + implants about a year after losing 90 lbs. it was clear my skin was not going to bounce back in that area no matter how long I waited. I had lost a lot of volume; 34C before weight gain, 34A/B after weight loss. And total loss of perkiness. :-( I decided I deserve great boobs after all the hard work…

I've been maintaining a 90lb loss for about 2 years now. (5'1" female, 48 yrs, SW 225 CW 138 GW 135). But I have gained and lost and regained many times prior to that. I would hit my goal weight and I swear to god would start gaining it back the next day! And would add a few more pounds each time I regained. This is the…

I have the same build - 34DD and small waist. Find a good tailor in your area - it's well worth the money! I have the waist taken in for almost all of my pants, and my dresses too. Seriously, it was a game changer in getting my clothes to fit right and make that hourglass shape pop. We worked hard for it - might as well…
