  • Thank you for the continued updates - helpful to so many people on this forum. You look amazing!
  • That’s exactly my experience Jemhh...thanks for stating it so well!
  • This thread reminds me from a scene in Dumb & Dumber... “For manly love, be here March 25th at 2:15am sharp” :D >:) :D
  • Congrats Tweaking_time! Not an easy thing to do. Thank you for sharing your experiences during the past 3 months, especially how it effected your sleep. I gave up drinking during the week when I noticed it might help me fall asleep initially, but on those nights I would frequently wake up in the middle of the night and…
  • I log my strength training to help keep me on track with the frequency I work out, and my progression on reps/ weights. Calories burned during strength training are minimal (for me), so I don’t make any adjustments to my calorie allowance when I strength train.
  • JeromeBarry1’s comment literally made me LOL. And now I’m practicing this phrase with a James Bond Eastern European super villain type accent. Please god let someone give me the opportunity to use it... :D
  • First thing in the morning, I pre-log my evening treat of a BIG bowl of Greek yogurt and frozen berries. Knowing I have a big delicious dessert helps me keep unplanned night time snacking at bay. Pre-logging it helps me make smarter choices earlier in the day, so I can eat that dessert and stay within my calorie budget.
  • All of the above, and there is a possibility your calorie burn is not right. I weigh about the same as you and get approx. 125 Cals for 45 minutes of fast walking...closer to 150 if hills are involved. Weight training is great exercise but doesn’t burn many calories. TL, DR: Try eating back only 50% of those 300 calories…
  • BUMP. Foodscale was a critical tool to help reach my GW, and continues to be valuable in maintenance! Without it, my 4 oz of chicken starts to creep it’s way up to 6-7 oz. amazing how my mind and eyes can deceive me - especially if I’m hungry LOL.
  • I wouldn’t use the phrase “a true hero never gives up”. That’s a judgement that could be discouraging to someone who may already be struggling. If I knew them well and they asked for my advice, I might gently ask them to think about their own personal “why”...why did they decide to make a change? Health, family, fitness…
  • I oven roast veggies - so good, especially when they get a little browned around the edges! Oven at 425 degrees. Cut veggies into even size pieces. Toss with 1-2 tsp of oil, and season with salt & pepper. Roast for 5-10 minutes, depending on type of veggie and the size of the pieces you have cut it into. Roast them on a…
  • I just sent you a friend request and message - please reach out and let me know how I can help! Or just reach out and we can talk about unsupportive *kitten* husbands- I have ( had) one of those too...
  • I understand Zyxst - I have also struggled for years with emotional self soothing eating. It’s hard and so much harder when others push food on us. This will always be something I have to work at. You’ve done a great job with your weight loss, and I have always enjoyed your comments on these forums. You have a nice blend…
  • Askhole...Love it! :D :D :D
  • Good advice here, enter your info into MFP and follow those calorie goals, eating back half of your exercise calories. Aim for 1-2 lbs loss per week. I also highly encourage you to start small on the exercise. 2-4 hours of dance + 90 min of cardio a day is a hell of a lot of exercise for anyone, and I’m guessing a lot more…
  • Not attempting to criticize OP - you’re right that I wasn’t there to see the chili cheese omelette. But respectfully speaking..I have worked in food service and checked out the nutritional info at a lot of restaurants. Traditional Diner omelettes are calorie bombs and I have never seen one come in at less than 600 Cals,…
  • Even if you don’t want to eat at chain restaurants (I feel the same!) looking online at their nutritional data for similar items can be helpful. Because I’m telling you, it’s highly unlikely that chili cheese omelette was only 400 Cals - 600 easy and maybe even higher. 3 egg omelette are the norm - 70 Cals per egg for 210…
  • This post resonated with me. 15 years ago, I was losing weight & got into a bad cycle of creating my deficit almost solely through cardio. And it worked...for awhile. But as I lost weight and my caloric needs dropped, I still kept eating & drinking the same. I had to increase my cardio more and more to keep a deficit in…
  • Dinadyna21 - thank you! This is what I hope for when posting on a topic like this. Because I too struggled for years believing all the crap out there that the diet industry promotes. I thought there was something inherently wrong with me and that “I must be meant to be fat”, after failing so many times. Finding MFP and…
  • The people who have lost weight were consuming less calories than they burned. ACV has nothing to do with it. :)
  • You say you don’t give a crap about what other people do. But I give a (nice) crap about the countless people that come on this forum searching for a special pill or diet or substance (like ACV) that will help them lose weight. When they pin their hopes on something like ACV, and it doesn’t work, they often walk away…
  • Because it’s a load of crap...and distracts/diverts people from focusing on the real science behind weight loss: CICO. And I guess I’m idealistic enough to believe a medical doctor should held to a higher standard of scientific review.
  • Absolutely. Losing weight is about consuming less calories than you burn. You said you’re working on “ eating less”. But how can you know if you are truly consuming less calories, if you don’t weigh and log your food/beverages accurately? This is always the first place to look when you’re not losing weight the way you…
  • MegaMoose - great attitude, you'll get there! Taking the deadline off my weightloss was one of the factors that finally helped me reach goal and maintain it. Rickster1967 - your quote below on goal setting is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
  • No one’s calling you a liar. How are you determining your calories? Are you weighing all food in grams, measuring all liquids and using verified database entries when logging? A lot of people make logging mistakes when they first start, which lead them to eating more calories than they think. No need to snap at someone who…
  • Congratulations! Thanks for the inspiration, and for your witty commentary on the Forums. :)
  • OP - go see a doctor and see if you can get into physical therapy. Whatever you do, don’t ignore this. I did years ago when I had a slight strain of the back with similar symptoms to yours. It can get much worse! I strained it again and my lower back muscles went into severe spasms and I thought I was going to die on the…
  • It’s not really free though, is it? There is a “calorie price” you have to pay when you eat it. If the food is truly delicious, and you can make it fit into your calories for the day, then enjoy. But I found, over time, that I was happier eating my full dinner later on vs having to skip it or subsist on only salad due to…
  • I’m not a chef, but cook a lot at home. I would taste A LOT, and I also had the bad habit of cleaning up my son’s leftovers after meal time. Try putting aside a portion of something that looks close to the size/weight of one of your “tastes” or “scraps”. Weight it and log it. Remember you have to log every taste or scrap…
  • THIS 100%! Some say it’s due to more confidence and a better outward attitude, and I guess that might be true for some. But for me, I was always confident and extroverted. I gained weight after I got married and started “nesting”. It was shocking to me for years how badly people would treat me when I was 90 lbs overweight.…
