^She is missing the pearl necklace. First thing I noticed about the picture. My mom always had the pearls. But the hairdo, big clip-on earrings and fitted-waist dress....spot on.

^^^Holey-moley! You could really light up the town!

Another true story....Mom had planned a big 90th birthday party for Dad with lots of friends visiting pretty much all day. As the evening wore on and people were still stopping by, Dad started to become agitated. It was about 11pm by then. He finally told everyone to GET OUT AND GO HOME! I NEED TO GO TO BED! He was not…

Had to do the monthly weigh-in today. It has been a rough month with vacations and eating out a lot. Have not felt very good about it. Stepped on the scale and yup, it was up .4 pounds. So this is probably TMI, but went back to the loo and then reweighed. I know my bladder likes to retain...second weigh-in, down .8! And…

Cookies are way too easy to pick up and pop in. I can't keep them in the house. Oreos are the worst, although my daughter bought the Oreo Thins last time I visited. Fortunately, it was my last day with her so I ate and ran....hahaha. I will occaisionally bake cobbler, cake or brownies for my boys. At least I have to get…

I agree with Sued0nim! Bond with your little one and don't put pressure on yourself to lose the baby fat YESTERDAY!! It will take some time and patience....something that is in short supply when you have added a new human being to your life. Walking is the easiest way to get some "exercise" into your day. Get a stroller…

Right on, AnnPT77...there is more room for fluctuation (up or down) in the larger size clothing. When you start losing weight and/or readjusting body parts in the smaller sizes, you have to change the clothing more often. I don't have the right "girlie" genes, because I hate shopping! It took months before I actually…

So that is who was hidden in that belly! Welcome, Olive! Congratulations to the family.

Have you resolved the issue? At least enough to get some sleep and rework the problem? We all make decisions that aren't the best for whatever reason. A sign of maturity is the ability to apologize for your own fault, let go of others' faults, change what you can change and walk away from what you have no control over (PS…

@marekdds...I find it so interesting that the squats (which scared the bejeebers out of me when I found out how many we would end up with!) have been RELATIVELY easy for me. The push-ups, which I wanted to focus on, have been a challenge but with definite improvement. The leg lefts? Torture! Apparently, my abs are the…

You guys are too funny! But back to the subject at hand, one of the most useful "tips" I found early on has been really good for me. It is the acronym SMART which hangs by my desk and refers to this journey I have found myself on. I have always been terrible at setting goals, and not just fitness stuff. Either my "goals"…

I agree! I am much more comfortable calling myself the little old lady now. We boomers are redefining expectations. Age is just a number. Wisdom comes with experience, and you don't have much of either at 20.

@b3achy, Congratulations! It is amazing what we can accomplish with the right support and motivation. I lost enough weight that I had to purchase an entire new wardrobe to start back to school last fall. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I never suspected I would have to repeat the New clothes shopping after Christmas, and for…

Hahaha....I know the feeling! I was nicely told I was very "buoyant" when I couldn't go under water very far when I started back swimming several years ago. I sink quite well now! Cogratulations!

Hahaha...@MadDogManner, my kids have always told me all of my grandchildren will have 4 legs and a tail! You don't even get the tail!!! Thanks for my LOL...

When making a take-along salad with the dressing on the bottom, I put the lettuce on top (last), heavier ingredients in first on top of the dressing. Then your lettuce doesn't get soggy or crushed in transport.

Took my dogs on a "run" tonight. A beautiful evening. The local farm we normally go by had moved some steers into a fresh pasture, so we walked slowly passed them. If you know anything about bovines, they are very curious; and true to form, this herd walked down to the fence to see who we were. My young dog was unsure but…

@Fugley01 Belts are good. Avoids any indecent exposure. Hahaha.

Today's NSV....dogs and I just completed our first 4 mile "run" in under an hour. Considering there is an elevation change of almost 400 feet, there is a lot of hill on this route. And I didn't feel like I was dying. I know a 15 min/mile is not fast, but it is an accomplishment for this non-runner.

Hahaha....Love you guys!

Lot of chatter about Farback's new desk! I think some of us are jealous! I can't afford to buy one but thought I would share a little trick I have used....I replaced my chair with a large exercise ball and sit on that. Not burning as many calories, but it takes a little work by your core to stabilize. There have been…

Good plan, @cabwj! Just a medical side note....your vertebrae are prone to the same osteoporosis that causes broken hips in the elderly. So weight-bearing exercise, good nutrition and paying attention to posture will help prevent those micro fractures that occur along the spine.

Welcome! Good group here....you will find as much (or as little) support as you want. There is not much housework done around here either. I've decided life is too short to worry about the hair balls .... I have better ways to enjoy my dogs. Mom is rolling over in her grave; her home was always immaculate. Just another…

Ahhh....the dreaded "dowager's hump". I catch myself hunching forward when I walk and have to consciously straighten up and walk "tall". I would never have even noticed if I wasn't becoming more aware of myself. I know I would have been bent over permanently when I got "old" if I wasn't on this journey with y'all.

Sometimes, I think we do push too hard, @robertw486! I wanted to mitigate the indulgences of the BBQ weekend so took the dogs for a long walk/jog yesterday evening. At least I waited until it had cooled a little. Felt pretty good to be out on the road and did more "run" than normal. Poor dogs had their tongues dragging! I…

Third BBQ of the weekend...this one at home with sons and girlfriends. Hopefully I will be able to remain within goal, or at least have time to get some miles in with the dogs to boost my calorie burn. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Just before Labor Day last year, I had to go buy several pairs of capris in my smaller size to go to our State Fair. I pulled my summer clothes out today...(remember I was still scraping frost off my car every morning last week; today it is going to 90!!!)....and those capris are falling off. I don't see it in the…

@marekdds....I was wondering if you had learned a new language!
