  • She needs to see a dietician! She will be given a whole bunch of information about carbs...how many of them to each at each menu...what kinds of foods to eat. Lean proteins are very inportant to a diabetic as it kinda acts as a stabilizer with sugars. A lot of diabetics will binge on the sweets and eat a ton of protein to…
  • I eat very little bread, more fruit and protein. I eat protein with every snack and meal whether it's eggs or cheese strings. And I weigh most of my food!
  • I was on Wellbutrin at one point and did very well on it. I am now on citalopram and another prescription med that i use for sleep and it boosts the anti anxiety stuff. I went and seen a mental health councillor that recommended me to try. The first few weeks were hell I won't lie...the anxiety got worse and then it slowly…
  • How tall are you? Typically your NOT supposed to go under 1200 so if I were you I would keep my calories at 1200 otherwise your body can start to go into starvation mode and not lose weight and if you do lose weight you can lose muscle tissue. Your body does not discrimate on what kind of muscle, that can include heart…
  • I'm diabetic and I use Splenda! But if I wasn't diabetic I prefer honey...artificial sweeteners can cause irritation in the gut that can cause diarrhea ...ect so even I try to use it sparingly and NOT everyday. If the extra calories are really bothering you try decreasing the amount...there are 3 tsp in 1 tablespoon, so…
  • I eat low fat cheese string or a hard boiled egg with my fruit for snacks! I try to stay away from lunch meats and usually cook extra lean meats for supper that I can carry over for my lunch! I also eat a bit of peanut butter with my breakfast! Hope this helps!
  • My daughter has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (sp?) Basically thickening of the heart lining. She is not supposed to do any competitive sports at all or her heart could go into cardiac arrest. She has pain when she does any activity. Her type of exercise is leisurely walking and leisurely swimming...with the idea of not…

  • I have the same issue although I am pretty regular but on the same medication as you! I eat a ton of fibre such as fruit and vegetables during the day but it still poses problems! I have to drink ALOT of water and no substitutes and even more during the summer as metformin can dehydrate you pretty bad. Dehydration is one…
  • Sounds like your having a great day! My latest NSV would be stepping up my walk when a 70 year old woman passed me! She was in great shape and I was like I should step it up a knotch...so I did! Shaved off 5 minutes on my walk! Another NSV was fitting into a pair of shorts that was pretty tight a few weeks ago!
  • Sounds like IBS...try cooking your veggies and watch dairy...all this with the assumption that you talk to your doctor about it! On and another thing to try is Metamucil...supposed to help with diareah!
  • Hmmm why did your doctor want you to go off of Wellbutrin in the first place? I am asking because I have went off my depression medication SEVERAL times and each time it came back worse. The last time was the worse where I almost ended up in the hospital. I ended up going for counselling and I realized I needed my…
  • You like chocolate? Just include it with your calories for the day...I often eat a small portion of ice cream daily. I like it..so I work it in my plan of eating. I cut other areas so I can indulge in my 1/2 c treat a day...and I am still losing! Just make sure your not cutting out healthy nutrients...cut out stuff that…

  • Fruit and some kind of protein such as cheese string, hard boiled egg, or peanut butter!
  • Sounds like your doing great! I too save some of my calories for the end of the day as I try to eat with my family! Like tonight for example I am going to have chili! So I know beans are healthy but higher in calories so went for my walk today so in a sense you are doing the same thing. I know on my days off (2days a week)…
  • @brendak76 I haven't been tested yet. I was given a huge blood work to be done before I go to this clinic plus a 24 hour urine test (not too sure what that is for and what it entails) but yeah doctors don't like to say too much. I had diabetes with my 3 pregnancy's and lost like 20lbs within a few weeks prior to diagnosis…
  • Type 2 here. I was on insulin and found it difficult to lost weight while keeping my sugars from growing too low. I ended up lowering my insulin needs accordingly to the point where I was still hypoglycemic...doctor eventually took me off insulin and I am still on high doses of metformin. I am told that this is temporary…
  • Great job Chantell! I am a type 2 diabetic and was diagnosed 1.5 years ago! I was overweight but was told it had more to do with genetics than anything! But your right about changing your diet now as alot of people don't realize hidden sugars in simple things! Your on the right path and if it's alright I would like to add…
  • I usually input my weight into the elliptical and it's pretty close to what MFP tell me so I usually use that!
  • I'm type 2 diabetic and on metformin. I was also on insulin when I was first diagnosed but no longer require it for now thank goodness! The side effects did not last for long with me as well but I find with myself that healthy fat/protein sources like avocado, eggs, peanut butter I do very well on. I usually have 2 bread…
  • I did diet pills when I was a teen. It was a prescription from my doctor! I lost 50lbs...but was taken off of it when people were dying and had to get heart and lung transplants....worth it...I don't think so....scary! FYI the FDA approved it initially...so not every thing out there is safe!
  • I enjoy diet pop as well but my drink of choice is water as I become dehydrated easily (esp. In the summer) but I drink maybe 3 diet pops a week!

  • I try and give myself that thing that I am craving, like fit it into a meal or something! Like tonight I wanted steak so I had steak. Next week I am making fried chicken as well (my kids request lol) I just make sure my side dishes are healthy though and I also fit in a bit more exercise so I can have that fattening treat!…
  • I have never been bulimic but I DO suffer from being hungry with that amount of calories as well. I use protein to go with fruit with me snacks helps...for example I eat 1.5 c of strawberries and I have a hard boiled egg with it for my snack. I also eat a lot of raw veggies to help bulk up my meals when I have something…
  • I have type 2 diabetes and PCOS, PCOS came after diabetes diagnosis...sucks. Weight loss is very slow even on metformin which I am almost maxed out on! I think not weighing yourself often...like maybe do it every few weeks instead of weekly or more might help (and making sure you are watching what you eat and while…
  • Most of those "healthy" snacks have corn syrup...but with that being said even if it was honey, raw sugar, ect still not good for you. Sugar is sugar, and is added to make things taste better. Try looking up healthier recipes for granola, add your sweetener of choice and measure it out to control the portions! I know we…
  • Do you have a blood glucose meter? If not get one and start testing! I have type 2 and urination is usually not a problem unless my sugars are out of whack! Also do you go for blood work and urinalysis every three months? Maybe get a second opinion?
