I think I may be able to relate to your question a bit. A while back I lost 20 pounds. I was happy with myself, and stepped on the scale every day to revel in my new weight. After a few weeks, I stepped on the scale every other day. Then I got busy and it was a week. Or two. I think it started creeping up, and I finally…

I found a Sara Lee line that is 45 calories per slice. (The slices also seem to be thinner, so I think that is how they reduced some of the calories) But the biggest change you can make, regardless of what bread you use . . . make your sandwiches open-faced. Viola - half the bread calories GONE!

If you'll use it, join! However, gyms seem to always be having specials, so I wouldn't sweat the special "deadline". There'll be another special come along. There are even lots of articles online about haggling with them over the price. They seem worse than used car salesmen! But . . . yeah, if you'll use it, then it's…

That's true. The 60 pounds probably isn't going to come off in 4 months. But remember . . . you don't go from being fat one day to 'magically' being skinny the next. It's a journey. In 4 months, ANYBODY can look and feel much better. My advice is to just start. Whether or not you are at your goal on the scale, you will…

Oh - and get a pedometer. 10,000 steps a day. EVERY day. Rain or shine.

Start counting your calories. MFP is great for that. And start exercising. I suggest C25K - it is incredible! I started out more than 100 pounds overweight. I don't want you to set unrealistic goals - you should really take your time and not worry about "how long", but with calorie counting and C25K, I am down 64 pounds in…

Good one! I forgot about the fourth macronutrient. I'm glad we have that backup for people who can't eat the other three.
-
That's a very good point.

When I go over, I don't deprive myself on following days . . . I just get back on track for my daily goals. I figure if I mess up one day, that means I'm going to take one day longer to reach my goals. There's two ways to look at this: 1) I am on day 106 of a 100-pound weight loss; or 2) I am on day 1 of a 29.4-pound…

I agree with just about everyone here . . . just eat what you want, and log it. Don't ever call it a 'cheat'. Back when I started doing this, I started feeling under the weather about two weeks in. It turned into a cold, and just about had me confined to bed for a day (which is really odd for me . . . I don't get sick). I…

The American Heart Association recommends less than 1500 mg of sodium per day. I started this journey in large part because I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, so I have been watching my sodium closely. I have found that, even though I have NEVER liked salty food, and I almost NEVER use salt in my cooking or on my…

If she can't eat fat, carbs, or protein, then she ought to have no problem losing weight quickly!!!

When I smell food I crave food. When I crave food I eat food. When I eat food I gain weight. Therefore, smelling food makes me gain weight. Q.E.D.

I take iron pills. (AND I eat meat . . . and I LOVE liver!!!)

I weigh daily because I'm a numbers person, and like lots and lots of data. One thing the daily weighing has taught me that I wouldn't otherwise have seen is that my weight change is very dependent on the day of the week. Over the past 3 months, my average loss from Saturday morning to Sunday morning is more than a pound…

Someone just commented on my belt buckle! I've worn this one for a long time, but between baggy shirts and baggy body parts, it hasn't really been visible. 60+ pounds down, and now people can actually see my belt buckle . . . and I'm not self-conscious about it.

I do believe it is.

It was a recipe. Basically bake the spaghetti squash, then fry it in olive oil. It is the only "healthy" food I have tried in the past 3 months that I have literally thrown away and gone hungry rather than eating it. NASTY!
-
This thread is just cruel. Yes, I love pasta!!! But I haven't had any recently. I tried making hash browns out of spaghetti squash, and it was really nasty. Maybe I didn't do it right. What I HAVE found is Shiratake noodles. They make a great low calorie (really, REALLY low calorie!) soy-based pasta replacement, and it's…

Is that 8PM where you ARE, or where you LIVE? I'm getting really confused.

Very well done, @JenniferIsLosingIt! I just saw your profile . . . it looks like you have already had AMAZING success!!! Keep it up - I think you will find that the C25K and running will help you gain even MORE success!!!

@fr3smyl; @icanplay3; I did the HCG diet years ago. It promises 40 pounds in 40 days, and it delivered . . . I think I lost a bit MORE than a pound a day. (I stuck to it religiously, though) When I did it, the diet was administered by a doctor, who insisted on seeing me at least once a week. In addition to eating no more…

Yeah . . . teenage son, disabled wife, Boy Scouts, church Elder, school volunteer, lots of other volunteer stuff (ever served in a soup kitchen on a diet? Now, THAT is hard!), play in 3 bands . . . Oh, yeah, AND I have a job. Yup. Time is my nemesis. Finding 30 minutes to exercise 3 times a week is really hard, but I'd…

I don't think you can really set a rule. It's frustratingly random, in the short term. I weigh daily . . . last week I started gaining, and was getting frustrated because it was so random; I hadn't really changed anything. After several days of this, I got really frustrated and overate for a day (by less than 1000…

Don't worry about "how long". I know it's hard (I get very impatient), but just remember that there is NOBODY that eats and exercises like that and is still overweight. If you're truly doing good, it will happen. Eventually.
-
Very resourceful! Congratulations . . . and you should TOTALLY start the C25K . . . TODAY! It's INCREDIBLE!!!

I've got tons and tons and tons of data in Excel. Each day I input: * Current Weight * Current BF% * Previous Day Calories In * Previous Day Calories Out * Previous Day Step Count From this, I calculate: * Total Loss (61.3 pounds and counting!!!) * Fat mass * Lean mass * Weight at target BF% if no lean mass is lost or…

I've found that the only time I get hungry is when I've eaten the wrong kinds of foods. For me, bagels are huge . . . if I eat a bagel in the morning, I cannot get full for the rest of the day, even if I blow away my calorie goal. There are other foods that do it, and they are all bad. I wonder if it's a blood sugar thing?…

I'm not so sure about that. I've been running, but I'm pretty sure I could stop any time I want to!!!
